  1. History! In 3,5 World Cup finals, that is the first ever try against South Africa
  2. That means that either I know rugby (because you do), or you don't know rugby at all (because I don't)....I'm going with the first option
  3. Too bad, Kolisi is the reason the Bokke won the pre-game ceremonies
  4. And that's it for the captain of the Bokke, Kolisi is off with yellow and this should be just as red as Cane got.
  5. New Zealand captain Sam Cane hands New Zealand a potentially massive problem with an incredibly dumb move.
  6. I would have found it fun to have Argentina or something in the final, the only team I'm glad about that it's not there is England, which even for a non-fan like me plays just really unattractive
  7. How do people see the haka of this World Cup there? Because I was rather unimpressed It seemed out of sync, random yells in between, never really got going....this one was much better
  8. I don't care if you're on a team I like or dislike, having to be substituted because of an injury after barely two minutes in a World Cup final....no, you don't wish that upon any player in any sport
  9. There might be regional differences, but in my youth it was known as "belletje trekken", which literally means "pulling the little bell" I don't really see it being done anymore though, and personally I didn't do it that often when I was at the age where most kids do so (like 8-10 years old or so)
  10. Ah, how I missed the German alpine skiing commentator calling Vlhova 'Vrrrruhova'
  11. I honestly doubt it will happen. Of course he has been the main representative of Brazilian blood in the top of the world of winter sports for a few years now, so the federation is definitely aware of him, but they're usually just...well, I forgot the word for something that doesn't actually act when they should Plus I believe they have a rule of not allowing athletes who have previously competed for another country, but somehow I feel like that's just a rule for show and will be instantly broken if Braathen knocks on the door Maybe I misremember that one, I'll check in with the federation's athlete's commission when said commission is back from work
  12. Speculation, where? I would on one hand be somewhat surprised, since they'd have to invest in Braathen and they are really not big on actually investing in athletes. On the other hand, what they lack in actually helping improve the sports, they make up for in living and breathing for marketing, and having Braathen under their flag....yeah, marketing galore and nobody will even realize he's mostly Norwegian
  13. And beside Brignone now, but on the other side
  14. Here we go here we go here we go 0 degrees and sunny with a very white landscape, basically my favourite weather
  15. Wouldn't it be a bit late to come back to this thread in 2044 if Warsaw gets the 2044 Olympics, and so presumably there's been years of preparations and qualifications before that?
  16. Calling disasters like the hurricane in Mexico or the earthquake in Morocco or floods in Libya 'punishment from God' is some nice old-school medieval thinking. Life was simple, back in the year 1400, when people didn't know stuff yet.
  17. Knowing them fairly well, they would absolutely go and run with every bit of credit for Braathen's entire career Much as I enjoy most Brazilian winter sports success and much as I have always been a Braathen fan, I'm not sure I could stomach that They're way too busy with other things though, like all the sweet free IBU money and equipment for sending random athletes to as many IBU competitions as they can (where every start brings in cash), I'd be surprised if they're even aware of Braathen
  18. Right, I didn't know this was public information or anything and the Eurosport article didn't really mention it, but with NRK's help it's more or less cleared up But yeah, very shitty situation..
  19. What do you mean, awful story? Eurosport is basically just listing his achievements and at the end it's someone else saying that he said he is retiring....are there any details mentioned anywhere, any reason or anything at all other than him feeling like he achieved what he wanted? Very sad to see this though, if nothing else that's it for Brazilian blood in the top of the world in (non-para) winter sports Edit: NRK has some more information, a fight with the skiing federation or something? https://www.nrk.no/sport/skimiljoet-rystet-etter-braathen-avsloring_-_-katastrofe-1.16613435 Of course we don't know exactly what happened, but it wouldn't exactly be the first time a federation drives athletes to retirement. Too bad for the Brazilian federation the NRK item mentioned he isn't planning a switch to Brazil
  20. Meanwhile more and more images are emerging and half the city seems to have been, well, destroyed, basically. Most appartment complexes are standing, but that's quite literally all they're still doing: standing. Entirely blown out, they're basically empty carcasses, the only thing that didn't happen to most is actual collapse (of course plenty of smaller buildings did that as well). This aerial footages says quite a lot about the incredible destruction. Just going to hope @mrv86 and his family/friends don't live in or near Acapulco?
