one of the strangest things , CAF Confedrations cup final took place yesterday and the new edition of the tournament started a week ago anyway Raja Casablanca won the cup after defeating Vita Club in the final 4-3 on aggregate ( 3-0 , 1-3 ) which's exactly the same result CAF champions league final ended

and they were leading 1-0 , but overall a tie is better than nothing as Canada is a more recognized team internationally than SA

Cameroon women's team brought something for their fans to cheer for as they qualified to WC in France defeating Mali 4-2 as they joined Nigeria and SA

CAF received a letter from a member of American congress telling them that Cameroon will not be able to secure the CAN as long as the situation isn't stable there due to protests which played a big role in CAF decision according to BEIN sport , anyway it looks like Morocco will be the only candidate for hosting the tournament

here in Egypt we don't have official ceremony as well , only some Media channels do it by their own , but mostly choices go for football stars as they don't have a good background of other sports , some of them were convinced recently to separate sections of best sportsmen , so they have one for football , one of team sports , one for individual sports men and women , one for Paralympic sports , but mostly players' friends vote in categories other than football , so i'm not really convinced of the results , My personal choices would be Mohamed Salah ofc for Football Mohamed Sanad ( Handball ) in other team sports he played in Nimes in France and one of the top scorers of french league last season and this season as well despite the fact he plays as a Wing , FOR SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR I'd choose Mohamed Ihab ( Weightlifting ) without a doubt and for Female it'd be a hard choice but i'd choose Sara Samir ( Weightlifting ) , for Paralympic sports i'd choose Sayed Mohamed ( Table Tennis ) as he won a bronze medal in the last WCH and Fatma Omar ( Powerlifting ) for best female Paralympic athlete , if we talk about Non-olympic Sports , I'd choose without a doubt Mohamed El Shorbagy ( squash ) and Raneem El Weleily ( Squash ) as the best male and female athletes of the year

Ghana lost to Mexico in penalties after the match ended 2-2 with a mistake by Ghana's goalkeeper in the 82nd minute , but i've to say it was a beautiful free kick by the Mexican player , Ghana's coach substituted this goalkeeper before the end of the match but her substitute didn't do anything special in penalties , she even didn't move in 2 penalties so i wonder if she even was trained for penalties before the match , anyway Congrats for Mexico who made it into Semis for the 1st time in their history after they lost in quarters last 2 times and btw 3 out of 4 quarterfinals matches were decided by penalties as we didn't have overtime in this tournament
