  1. DON'T MISS THE CHL FINAL TODAY AT 16:20 CET! The 2022/23 Champions Hockey League season will culminate later today with the all-or-nothing Final between Luleå Hockey and Tappara Tampere. The game in the Coop Norrbotten Arena in Luleå, Sweden will start at 16:20 CET. For both 2022 SHL finalists Luleå and reigning Liiga champions Tappara, it is their second participation in a CHL Final. Whereas Luleå won the very first season of the competition in 2014/15, Tappara are still waiting for their chance to lift the European Trophy after losing to Rögle Ängelholm last year. Luleå earned the right to host the ultimate showdown due to their higher points total throughout the 2022/23 season compared to Tappara's (31 points for Luleå to Tappara's 28 points). 2. we don't have any other option since Sanfilippo was left out of the Biathlon team and Passler is totally useless on this kind of track and snow (too heavy and too much out of shape)... our plan is as simple as it looks: Comola is somehow more reliable than Auchentaller in the shooting range, so we hope she can limit the damage before Wierer hopefully makes the difference (I'm dreaming, I know), giving Auchentaller a small margin to keep our team in contention for something worth the effort before Vittozzi's final leg.
  3. just another day to forget for the Italian team elsewhere, great comeback by Sagi Muki, who destroyed his opponents in brilliant style with some explosive throws
  4. first ever win by Klimkait vs Deguchi in a IJF international tournament (head-to-head matchups were 6-0 in favor of Deguchi before Yesterday). tbh, Deguchi was doing better than her rival and the she was heavily penalized by an injury to a hand, she couldn't grab Klimkait sleeves anymore after that. no comment about the Italians in day #1 of the tournament. they basically missed the Paris Grand Slam to focus on this event and we came out with just a miserable bronze medal (thanks to the usual suspect Giuffrida, who lost once again vs Giles in the semifinal match ). the only encouraging performances came from Rio 2016 Olympic Champion Fabio Basile (who made his comeback after a long injury break in the -66kg class -which he left after Rio- and lost in the first round against the eventual winner Margvelashvili only after 3 mins into the GS period and after scoring a waza-ari against him in regulation) and youngster Veronica Toniolo (women's -57kg), who beat Telma Monteiro in rd#1 and then lost after 4 mins into the GS period by 3rd shido vs Daria Bilodid after actually dominating the fight.
  5. Stage #5 ( Val Martello) Women's Individual Race (NOT an Olympic event) Gold: Axelle Gachet-Mollaret Silver: Emily Harrop Bronze: Giulia Murada
  6. Stage #5 ( Val Martello) Men's Individual Race (NOT an Olympic event) Gold: Matteo Eydallin Silver: Robert Antonioli Bronze: Xavier Gachet
  7. 2nd run to be set by an American coach (not Shiffrin's, who's been fired and left France a couple of days ago). curious to see if he/she goes for a speedy design or if he/she does set a slalom with gs gates up. in the first case, most likely the 2nd run won't change the 3 girls currently on the podium (maybe Brignone can overtake Worley). otherwise, it might mix things up a bit and give some girls now ranked 4th/10th a slim chance to comeback (at least for silver and bronze...gold is only Shiffrin's to lose).
  8. Derek Carr released by the Las Vegas Raiders. they should have done it quite some time ago, by the way. now I hope they can find someone not so delusional as the good old Derek.
  10. meanwhile in the men's GS quali, tomorrow, legendary Hubertus von Hoenlohe is back!
  11. but in this case the hype is justified by the "he's going to win ALL the events in a championship" factor...
  12. Jacobs "only" 6.64 in the heats, final comin'up in a couple of minutes. good results for 2 more Italians...Claudio Stecchi finally cleared 5.82m (new indoor NR, second only to Duplantis in the event) after 2 years out of the competitions because of many injuries, meanwhile Leonardo Fabbri got 21.53m in the men's shot put in Belgrade, beating all the big guys from the former Jugoslavija. and Omanyala beat Jacobs (first loss in a 60m race in 3 years) 6.54 for the Kenian and 6.57 for the 100m Olympic champion (same time of last week in Lodz for him).
  13. yeah, but at least with this method it's not unfair. imho, in Snowboard they should have 2 runs in the knockout stage, meanwhile in alpine skiing they could well get rid of this race...
  14. well, this time it wasn't an issue, as the clockings on the red and blue course were counted only between themselves. there was no comparison between what happened on the other course, even if one was clearly faster than the other.
  15. tbh, today's team event was held on a perfectly fair course for the first time ever (snowboard included). the only problem came out late in the semis and finals, when a couple of gates of the red course were slightly more ruined and therefore the last 3 gates looked slower than the blue course, but it was more a feeling than actual issue. tonight's quali of the individual parallel slalom were held on a different track and we were back to the usual disparity between red and blue, but the rules just made it a non problem, since the entire qualification was structured on completely separate timings between the 2 tracks. therefore no injustice was done, as only clockings on the same course were compared between each other. tomorrow we'll be back on the fair track (used basically only for the parallel competitions).
  16. 100m (and 4*100m Relay) Olympic Champion, Marcell Jacobs, back in action Tomorrow night in Lievin. this is the meet's schedule: https://etusuora.com/en/athletics/world-athletics-indoor-tour/lievin#:~:text=The 2023 event takes place, near Lens in Northern France.
  17. IBA, what a great sports federation!
  18. Alpine Skiing, women's DH...despite the most recent winners might look superior because of the most races available and the better media coverage, there's only one GOAT in the women's speed disciplines (which at her time was only the DH)... her name is Anne-Marie Moeser Proll. she's my pick. Luge, men's Singles...in the luge history there are 3 men that signed 3 different era (even if somehow they also had the chance to slide against each other): Georg Hackl, Armin Zoeggeler and Felix Loch. it's a very difficult choice...but in the end, my pick is Georg Hackl. Luge, women's Singles...despite the most dominant performance should be considered Gerda Weissensteiner's effort in Lillehammer, also here we have a clear GOAT that can't be denied the pick: Natalie Geisenberger. Curling...just going with the most successful serial winners: Canada among the men, Sweden among the women.
  19. let's go Raiders! oh, wait...the Raiders aren't going to play the Superbowl?! well, in this case...then...my pick are the Eagles (but I hope KC is gonna do it). more than anything, I hope it's gonna be a great match with a really close score until the last second.
