So China are guaranteed to begin the Olympics with 10 golds from weightlifting. 

China has always been doing manipulations, that's known by pretty much every sporting fan. But they are never getting caught. People at the top can't or don't want to take action. 

Or just don't do anything and keep it like it is now. Everyone is happy, done deal. In fact, wrestling has fewer quotas, than it deserves. Judo shouldn't have a 100 athletes more for fewer events, than wrestling...

Having multiple hosts leads to the need of pre-determined elimination bracket, because of the travel. And this gives some teams the chance to arrange their position in the group stage, depending on which path they prefer taking in the elimination rounds. And this has happened on multiple occasions in the last 10 years.
 
I want the draw to happen after the group stage ends. Still have the first play the fourth and so on, but draw it after the matches have been played. Then have another open draw for the 1/4 with the 4 best placed teams from the group stage, which have made it there, be seeded against the other 4 and then make it a bracket to the final. Much more interesting and not that hard to do!

I see no differences. Armstrong was cycling,  Armstrong was money. Bolt was athletics, Bolt was money. 
 
We see what is athletics at the moment. And to think the sharks at the top haven't done their best to prolong in cliff drop, whatever it takes is hard to believe.  I have said my opinion for years now, and will stand firmly behind it. 

Is the US with their 10th team  They could have sent their college kids for the laughs just as well. 
 
By the way, i'm not a big basketball fan as a whole and i'm not paying that much attention to the Cup.
 
This first group stage looks like a one big chore. It doesn't feel like THE WORLD CUP, only every 4 years, the best players, dunkers etc. 32 teams is too much for basketball. I know, i know, like everything they want to make it a big global thing.
 
If they insisted on 32, they could have done with a few more european teams i reckon, to feel a bit more, umm, relevant. If you don't count the US, there are going to be hardly any european loses to a non-european teams.

Is it really though? I can guarantee you there are some countries where i can feel much safer being out in the night, than many other. 

As i've said many times, it should be 3 full weeks. There are just so damn many things at the same time. They already have stuff on the prior wednesday-friday. Just have the opening ceremony on a tuesday (the TV audience would much more like that, than on a friday) and start a few other sports from wednesday. Swimming and athletics cross-matching on 3 days is a no-no. Also i wish just once, that wrestling is in the beginning and judo is in the second half. Always starting with judo in every multi-sport event..

IMO, last "good" games were London 2012. After that, Bach is steadily killing Olympics. He is doing that in few simple but effective steps.
1. Reducing number of athletes by any cost
2. Artificially equaling gender representation
3. Adding some sports which are "urban" and youth appealing (are they sport at all is a question to discuss)
4. Destroying traditional sports by reducing categories or even disciplines and by adding some mix competitions which are pointless
5. Saving as much money as possible
 
 
Maybe i am old, but i started to like olympics when they were "normal". This V2010+ version is...blah... not my cup of tea.
