  1. Jakobs with a relaxing win and should easily win the final. Let's hope he is finding his best form in time for the Olympics.
  2. W Pole Vault shaping to be with surprises
  3. Brazil with only 1 woman's pair? I find that highly unusual and surprising 😮
  4. If you believe in conspiracies, Ireland already won 2 women's quotas this morning, so they can lose the W50 kg one in the afternoon.
  5. NBC broadcast the Olympics in America. For NBC, American athletes are of course the best athletes on the planet (especially in swimming, athletics, gymnastics). Anytime some one else beats said athletes there must be some outside reason. No one could objectively be better than Americans. So in Paris, when China wins a bunch of medals in swimming, because they have a great generation, NBC will have the graphics and it's analyst pull reports how China are "allegedly doping" and this is why they are winning.
  6. Like i've said previously "Excuses are already lined up for every Chinese medal won in Paris". NBC are having the cue card on speed dile.
  7. Is Viktoria Tomova good for the quota? I haven't checked if those around her are playing ITFs next week.
  8. The fight between NED and CAN will come down to their direct match. Whoever gets the win most likely gets also the quota. They have 4 more matches with both playing France & Korea, which they should win, and 2 other matches they should lose (on paper). So the direct match will be the key.
  9. We are already at 2 full weeks + 4 days. With smart and balanced scheduling it wouldn't be that noticeable. You can have the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday and start 1/3 of the sports already on Wednesday & Thursday instead of Saturday. This way you can spread them out a bit and have more rest days for the team sports as well.
  10. It would be embarrassing to include any sport, which doesn't have a winter element to it. Playing sport "X" indoors makes it in no way a candidate for the Winter Olympics, so to just "puff" the program.
  11. Title speaks for itself We were talking about this with a friend and i thought it would be a nice topic here as well. With the variety of users from around the world, it could lead to some interesting takes. It could be anything related to sports. I will open with some of my preferences - Making Summer Olympics 3 full weeks; - Return of the open final set at tennis Grand Slams; - Vuelta a Espana to be held permanently in September (8-10th to the end of the month). Respectively, the UCI World Championships to be moved to late August. - Basketball, hockey and baseball in the USA to have fewer (dead) regular season games. You can trim 1/4 of the current schedules. With 30 teams in the leagues, you could play 60-62 matches in basket & hockey and 120 games in baseball; - No Ice Hockey should be played in June. (in the Northern Hemisphere); - Athletics to try and make a rankings system like tennis. It has become extremely hard for regular people to tell, who are the best athletes in athletics. Recognizable faces and true stars have faded big time from 10-20-30 years ago.
  12. Legendary Pogacar Brilliant performance in all 3 weeks. Now go for the double champ!
  13. Let's not pretend this is the first time it's happening Varfolomeev Simakova Vedeneeva Berezina All of them Russian. Even we have included a Russian born-gymnast, even though she has spent most of her life in BG.
  14. It's stupid to have one country host 2 weeks, when there are so many participating nations. This week when Turkey isn't playing it has been abysmal. Last week with the women it was better and they should have left only that and have someone else host the men this week.
  15. I am not very enthusiastic after the draws. You would think the final qualifier will have easier paths, as the best boxers have already qualified, but i don't see easy paths. If we get 1 man and 1 woman quotas from the final tournament, i would be happy.
  16. You would think no one can dominate like Pogacar, but Vollering could actually be doing it easier. Will there be a Stage race she won't win? I'm surprised she lost so many Classics this spring, given her past month in Spain.
  17. Why are France not getting a men's host quota? Did they have to choose 1 between the men and women?
  18. WOW, that was a fantastic finish Big drama in both 1/2 with the women, let's hope the men bring the same
  19. The humiliation was averted, as the Sports Minister said, that everything is payed and our lifters have no issues for Paris. This means, that nothing can stop Karlos Nasar from fulfilling his destiny.
  20. Well this was show. 5 days after this news, a new one came, where Gross wouldn't be our coach anymore, because both sides didn't reach a mutual understanding of the working relationship. Now Gross has been unveiled as a coach for the Swiss team, and he has responded, that he never had any deal with the Bulgarian Federation and it's all fake news.
  21. A person of the European Olympic Committee has mentioned, that the plan is for the 2027 European Games to play a big role for LA 28 quotas. It will most likely be held again in June and they are working on bringing back lots of sports.
  22. The extremist left have no boundaries.
  23. If anyone was thinking the soap opera of Bulgarian weightlifting has ended, oh my sweet summer child 😄 The Federation is owing 36 k Euro to IWF for the organisation of the European Championship in February. We have until 20th May to pay up, otherwise our 3 lifters, including Karlos Nasar will be barred from the Olympics. The Federation has been in debt for 8 months now. They don't have any money and the Sports Ministry are refusing to give them the new budget, because of said previous debts. And the deadline for this payment was actually the end of April. IWF made an exception and extended to May 20th, just so they don't DQ our guys. Weightlifting isn't amongst the brightest sports at all, but i am fully convinced, that the people involved with it have a lower IQ, than monkeys in a zoo.
  24. Maybe it's not playing a factor like before, but it's interesting, if people are taking into consideration, that non-European countries do usually better in non-European Olympics. Vice-versa Europe is doing better, when it's in Europe and worse, when it's not. Of course in today's global sport, location, conditions, culture etc. don't have the same weight, but i still think there were comments 3 years ago how European athletes didn't acclimate good enough in Tokyo.
