  3. I don't think it would have been practical for him to take part in so many events in the cycle. It was basically one of the two: Either World Junior Championships or Commonwealth Championships. Federation must have thought it would be better to keep him with the senior team. Hence, I think he will participate in Asian Juniors only if he has a horrible Worlds, otherwise he would skip them as well.
  4. He has atleast two Gold level events in the current period: Worlds in September and Asian Juniors in October.

  7. Wrong comparison. Those lifts of Mirabai came at 48-49 kgs. Better comparison would be: her total of 182 kgs would have placed her at 6th position in last Junior World Championship and in top 30 in last Senior World Championship.

  9. Honestly, more than Olympics, DT is dying due to non-inclusion in World Cups. What is stopping ISSF from including DT, 50m Pistol and 50m Rifle Prone in World Cups? Pistol and Rifle events (like Center Fire Pistol, 25m Standard Pistol, Prone in Rifle) and all such have already died but they still have decent participation in WC because it is easier for Rifle and Pistol shooters to focus on Olympic/WC events year long and take part in these additional events as practice or those who miss out on main events can take part in these events. Sadly, there are not many shotgun shooters who regularly take part in two events. So, there is simply no incentive for a shooter to continue shooting Double Trap just for one event in the whole year. If it was also part of World Cups, then it going out of Olympics would still be a blow but atleast manageable.

  14. A lot of Indians wanted India to lose yesterday, to eliminate Pakistan. But, the matter of fact is Pakistan is not eliminated even after India's loss. Pakistan can still qualify for Semis. Also, Indian think tank would have preferred to win all the matches, qualify for Semis as top team and hope we face Pakistan in semis, because frankly it would have been a cake walk for us. Now, we will finish 2nd behind Australia and most likely face winner of New Zealand/England match in semis, which is a much tougher match. Also, if you have followed cricket in last couple of years, you would know England is a very good team who have been consistently scoring 350+ scores when batting first for quite some time. So, they scoring 300+ yesterday means nothing. Heck, even in this WC, they have scored 300+ everytime they have batted first including massive 386 and 397 against Bangladesh and Afghanistan. All three matches that England have lost in this WC have been while chasing. While, of late India have been better at defending the score and not chasing (since we have brittle middle-lower batting line-up). So, all this theory of India throwing the match to eliminate Pakistan is believed by a) Indians who think no one can be better than us on a given day and hence, all the matches we lose are part of some grand strategy b) Pakistanis who believe Indians are always trying to hurt them. and c) naive people who believe in every conspiracy theory they read on internet.

  20. After the completion of FIH Pro League and FIH Series Finals, following teams are qualified for Olympic games qualifiers: From Pro League: From Series Finals: As Japan, who finished second in Series finals Tournament 2, have already qualified for Olympics (both as hosts and Asian Champs), their place in Olympic qualifiers has been reallocated to rankings list. Similarly, if any of the above teams also win their continental championships, even their position will be reallocated to rankings list. So, we will have atleast 5 spots for rankings at present. At present top 5 not already qualified in Ranking are: With Argentina, Australia almost sure to win their continental tournaments, and European winner also most likely coming from the above mentioned teams, an additional 3 spots should be open for teams on basis of rankings. Next 3 in line are : Next two in line are and . But they are quite behind in points and it would be tough for them to overtake them in the next ranking update. P.S. South Africa are almost sure to win African championships but they are expected to refuse that quota. There is no other African team close to top 20 in rankings, so unless someone upsets South Africa at African championship, African quota will be returned to FIH. In such a case, out of the 7 losing teams of the qualifiers, the one with the highest ranking will qualify for the Olympics.
  21. Yes. China can select three different shooters for these events. Shooter A and B for individual events and shooter C for mixed event.

  23. I think we would be in hunt for quota in couple of events. Can't remember which events but there were couple of events where we did decent in Asian Games and which have Asian quotas. So, assuming 2-3 chances, we should realistically have 1 quota in sailing. Optimistically, it might reach 2 as well.

  25. No, 2018 Asian games have not been included till now. At present, Asian ranking includes 2017 Asia Cup, 2016 Asian Champions Trophy and 2014 Asian Games. I think they will update all continental championships together only.
