As ever, strenght is not in numbers when it comes to the Chinese League of World Cup jumping.

What a frustrating day for Deslauries family. Father Mario and daughter Lucy remained the only ones with a possibility of jumping a double clear, and thus sharing 50,000 euro reward. However both failed because both collected a time penalty! Mario 0.37 and Lucy 0.22 outside the optimum time. Unbelieveable. Germany is the winner of today's consolation round.

So I've just completed my first listen and, as always, one song stood out as a huge favorite for the maximum points. Also, I'd say the entries of Open and Annual are becoming more different every year.

There will be two more special awards. Here are they exemplified with the Jubilee results. J'en Suis La Award - Nation who climbed the most between the half-way point and the end (2018 Annual - France - climbed from 33rd to 10th) Passionfruit Award - Nation who scored the most consistent points (2018 Annual - Canada - 80% of their scores were 5s, 6s and 7s) They are named after the French and Canadian songs who "achieved" them at the Jubilee. Therefore the specified awards will be a part of the Jubilee legacy.

There will be one more new event, as for the first time we'll keep track of the Individual All-Around competition. Points from 2018 Annual and 2018 Open will be combined to determine the 2018 All-Around rankings, with only the nations that participated at both contests being eligible. Italy will therefore start in pole position, and it will be interesting to see if they can hold their rivals at bay for this title. This weekend Barcelona will host (again) the Nations Cup final of jumping. 15 teams are entered: Field is somewhat weaker since the WEG has just ended (lots of withdrawals from non-European teams). This event will be much more serious next year with an Olympic quota on the line. Start list for the first round.

A bit late, but damn... That's some rant. Although, in all honesty, I lost quite a bit of respect for Lamaze after he stated recently that there shouldn't be more nations at the Olympics, because "show jumping is a dangerous sport"...

It's really not necessary for everything to be completely equal with 162 games... Same as in chess, where in those 200-player tournaments nobody plays everyone.
