There is still plenty of time to improve. This was one of the most difficult seasons ever for the athletes. Many of them had to compete at both worlds and european championships within one month and this coming right after a five year cycle. There were positives to take and I'm sure the French team will be very strong in Paris. Since I'm writing about French athletes, I finally got to watch women's pole vault final and I have a thing to say about that. I'm not very talented in making predictions, but I'm saying if Bonnin stays injury free, she will be jumping minimum 4.90m by Paris.

Very important title for her, because she will soon have to defend second round (main draw) points from US open and most likely she won't play at all. At the moment she is fourth or fifth alternative in qualifying and there are less than 48 hours until the start of the tournament.

If you want to feel a bit old, think that when Greece last won gold in women's javelin at a european championships, it was in 2002 in the same stadium and Jengo was one month unborn back then. And if you want to feel a bit older, think that when Spotakova made her olympic debut in 2004, Vilagos was seven months old. Tzengo was impressive, she started with a relatively good first throw which took all the pressure off and helped her throw a personal best in her next throw. This was a great day for us with two gold medals. I know our other two golds in these championships on the same day as well, as @Makedonas said, but I think those were way more expected than the one our athletes won today. Vilagos was impressive too. Remember she had two foul throws in qualifying before having a third one just good enough to put her in the final. Today she didn't start well, but gradually climbed up to third place and then despite Spotakova bumped her out of the podium spots and Vilagos had to throw immediately afterwards, she managed to improve and won silver. As for Spotakova, just appreciation and respect for her effort and medal at 41 years old, a true legend in this sport not just in javelin. To conclude all three medalists today have a from me.

I wrote that before, because here when commentators realised the Czechs were DQ'd they showed a video of Jichova getting the baton and then running on the lane line for some meters. But if the athletes said otherwise, then they are probably right.

The reason for their disqualification wasn't this exchange, it was a lane infringement by Jichova at the beginning of the second leg. At least that's what I see in our broadcast.
