  1. Muir 1.56.73 and Reekie 1.56.96 in an 800m full of personal bests, with a crazy 54.80 split at 400m from the pacesetter. Almanza tried to follow that pace in the first 400 and then faded hard.
  2. Warholm with a 47.07 meeting record. Rojas jumped 15.12m, but then risked and fouled her final attempt, costing her the win. Mamona jumped 14.66 and improved her national record by one centimeter.
  3. I think in age group championships learning and gaining experience from a major competition is more important than winning a medal. That's why I'm not so disappointed with our 4th place in the recent girls under15 european championships in water polo. If we can use this experience to learn, we can have the same or better results in senior category. Because as you mentioned, it's not easy to 'translate' success in junior category to success in men's or women's top level. That said, I'll be watching the athletics in Tallinn with great interest. We have some promising athletes competing there.
  4. USA and Hungary rosters here. World and European champions announce teams for Tokyo - Total Waterpolo (total-waterpolo.com)
  5. In addition to Hungary, whose roster was mentioned some days ago, Italy, Australia, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and USA have also announced their rosters for the olympics. For Serbia, 15 players will travel to Japan with two of them going for the last training camp and serving as reserves, if needed. Montenegro's best and most experienced goalkeeper Dejan Lazovic is recovering from surgery and won't play. World and European champions announce teams for Tokyo - Total Waterpolo (total-waterpolo.com) for Italy, Hungary, Australia Serbia wins tournament in Belgrade; team for Tokyo is announced - Total Waterpolo (total-waterpolo.com) for Serbia Head coaches of Croatia, Montenegro, and USA select Olympic rosters - Total Waterpolo (total-waterpolo.com) for Croatia, Montenegro, USA
  6. Athletics At least one relay team will be disqualified in a final. There will be three or more world records set in track events only (men's and women's individual events and all relays counting). Women's triple jump podium will not feature any european athlete. The gold medalist in men's triple jump will jump 18.00m or more in the final. There will be more than one athlete in men's pole vault to jump 6.00m or more. In decathlon and heptathlon combined, there will be 10 or more national records set (only counting records for total score, not in specific events). Fencing In at least one individual event, men's or women's, the gold medal will be won by the no1 seeded fencer. At least one country will win more than one gold medal in the team events. In at least one individual event, men's or women's, two or more fencers from the same country will win a medal. At least one individual gold medal final, men's or women's will be decided in the overtime/extra minute.
  7. Yes, a country can have up to two mixed doubles pairs. With 146 combined ranking though, will be very hard to make it. Probably anything more than 60 will not be enough, as long as every available pair registers to play.
  8. It will be very difficult for them to make the combined ranking cut in mixed doubles, despite Siniakova's high ranking in doubles. Of course, we have to see which players will decide to play mixed doubles, but with two wins you get two chances to medal, therefore I think a lot of top players will be tempted to play.
  9. You are allowed to bring up to two relay only swimmers for each qualified relay. In Ireland's case and supposing the medlay relay won't swim, you have one relay team and the two relay only swimmers, who will be McGeever and McMillan. The other two spots in this relay team must be filled by swimmers who have qualified individually. Hyland might have been given an invitation to swim the 200 fly with an OST, as his 1.56.55 best time is very close to the 1.56.48 OQT. If that's the case, he and Ryan will swim in individual events and can complete the lineup for the relay. The total swimmers, though, will be nine and not ten.
  10. Swimming There will be at least one individual event final, in which the world record mark will be beaten by at least two swimmers. USA will win a medal at every relay. There will be three or more relay events, in which the world record will be broken. At least one relay team, of any country, will be disqualified in a final. The winner of the men's or women's open water race will be the 2016 defending champion. Water Polo In men's and women's tournament combined, there will be four or more knockout matches decided in a penalty shoutout. In men's tournament, at least two of the three countries that won a medal in 2016 will be again on the podum (not necessarily in the same place). In women's tournament, the gold medal game will not feature any european team. In both men's and women's tournament, there will be a team on the podium (one or more in each tournament) that didn't win a medal at the last world championships. The men's gold medalists will finish the tournament undefeated.
  11. Gabbi Cunningham finished 4th at trials, a heartbreaking 0.005 seconds behind third. I hope she is the one to replace McNeal.
  12. No Ninon Chapelle (Guillon-Romarin)... It's a pity, it would have been an amazing story. Yet, the effort itself deserves all the praise.
  13. Sha' Carrie will appear on NBC later today. We'll see what she has to say. But, considering how much money NBC have invested in the olympics and how important Sha' Carrie is for their marketing campaign, it's rather obvious what to expect.
  14. Well... Mboma and Masilingi are still in the list for 200m. However, their time there, 22.67, for both ranks them out of the top20, not as high as in 400m. With their improvement rate, they could still contend for the final, if they race, but they are not as good as in the 400. At the moment, Miller-Uibo is still in for 400m and I wonder, if she will reconsider, and choose the 400 over 200.
  15. Seems the Namimbians are out from the 400m. Vasiliou now has 48th place, which is the last giving an olympic spot.
  16. I think ITF gave exceptions from Davis cup/BJK cup rule, probably because of covid. For example, I know Rybakina had that problem, but she is allowed to compete.
  17. No men's or women's doubles for Greece, despite the rumors here during the last few days.
  18. I checked the long jump ranking and at the moment, Veiga is out of qualification spots. And that's despite Thiam not using her quota, Iapichino's withdrawal and Sokolova not being selected for ROC. There are two universality qualifiers that might have bumped her out. She will need two more withdrawals/rejections of invitations to make it, as she is ranked 34th, with only 32 available spots.
  19. His group will start from floor exercise, so pommel will be their next apparatus, in rotation 2.
  20. Hello everyone. A nice topic to start posting here. For Greece, Fani Tzeli will be competing in tae kwon do, along with the rowers. Tzeli won bronze in 2018. I'll try a different approach and I'll go by sport. In swimming, there are a lot medalists from 2018, who are going to Tokyo. I'll name a few. The events mentioned are those in which they got the medal in 2018, not (necessarily) the ones they are swimming this time. Hungary Milak 200 free gold, 400 free gold, 200 fly gold, 100 butterfly silver Kesely 200 free gold, 400 free gold, 800 free gold Australia McKeown 50 backstroke gold, 100 backstroke silver, 200 backstroke bronze Hodges 100 breaststroke silver Russia Minakov 50 butterfly gold, 100 butterfly gold, 100 freestyle gold Kolesnikov 50 backstroke gold, 100 backstroke gold, 200 backstroke gold Italy Burdisso 100 butterfly bronze, 200 butterfly bronze Ceccon 50 free gold, 50 backstroke silver, 100 backstroke bronze, 200 IM silver De Tullio 400 free silver, 800 free bronze Czech Republic Seemanova 50 free gold, 100 free gold, 200 free bronze Israel Gorbenko 200 IM gold USA White 200 backstroke bronze France Duhamel 200 IM bronze Canada Knox 200 IM bronze Probably, there will be more who will compete in relays, plus those who didn't win a medal back then, but will swim in Tokyo.
