  1. He got 15.400 at the recent European Championships, so hopefully he can repeat that performance in Doha
  2. I wonder if we are going to have two flag bearers. We already selected Anna Korakaki. We have two other former gold medalists on the team but both are women. We have Petrounias who might qualify but he would be competing the next day. Unless we choose one of Mantis/Kagialis (bronze medalists) or a famous person like Tsitsipas or Antetokounmpo. I hope not though because neither one has ever even been to the Olympics and I don't want one of them to take the spotlight away from Anna.
  3. It was the opposite with our media. They got it right and said we are trying to maintain our place in the top 21, but I thought they were making a mistake when I first read the article.
  4. I see it now, thank you so much! So this ranking has not been updated since March 2020. They will start adding results now again? Anything that happened in the last year is not counted?
  5. For me it only shows Cross-country ranking, downhill ranking, 4x ranking and marathon ranking. On google it says I can click to see the Olympic ranking but then I click the link and it takes me back to the same page without the Olympic ranking. Maybe it is blocked in my country? So weird.
  6. I still don't see the Olympic ranking here. Probably I don't know how to use this website but I appreciate your help and I will take your word for it. Thank you. Hope to see us get the quota for Tokyo!
  7. https://www.uci.org/mountain-bike/rankings It says here we are 30th in cross-country ranking men elite nation ranking. Is there a separate Olympic ranking that you can show me? Thank you. Sorry, I do not know much about cycling!
  8. Well we got Pilidis yesterday in wrestling so we are up to 44 now. Telikostoglou not qualifying is a huge disappointment as he had chances for a medal in Tokyo. I hope we can get one qualification tomorrow in taekwondo (Chamalidis or Tzeli). I don't think we have a chance in wrestling unless Kesidis can surprise. We also have a lot of people competing in athletics this weekend, so hopefully we can get a few quotas or at least some good results for ranking points from our athletes.
  9. Any chance for Greece to make it? We competed in this event in London and Rio. It would be a shame to not qualify for Tokyo. We were in qualification position before the pandemic but now our ranking fell a lot in the past year
  10. Thank you, I like France too even though I've only been there to the airport of CDG in Paris. I supported France at the 2018 World Cup as Greece did not qualify, so I was very happy throughout the tournament. I will be supporting France again for Euro 2020. Also one of our taekwondo Olympic medalists (Alexandros Nikolaidis who won silver in Athens and Beijing and was our flag bearer in London for the opening ceremony) was in your Eurovision 2016 music video from Amir.
  11. Wait, so could there be an extra spot available in W1X? Reallocation for the Olympic qualifying regatta in Lucerne?
  12. In men's wrestling our boy Georgios Pilidis qualified yesterday. He is either 20 or 21. One site says he was born January 2000 and another says January 2001.
  13. Like Greece in gymnastics and rowing. Gymnastics we had 9 in Beijing, London and Rio. So far we have 0 for Tokyo. Rowing we had 10 in London and Rio. So far we have 3 for Tokyo...
  14. Really hope Chamalidis can qualify. He is seeded two. So was Telikostoglou today and he lost in the first round. I think Rapsomanikis had a good chance to qualify for Tokyo but he wasn't one of the four athletes we selected. Mitsopoulou losing today in the first round was also a huge disappointment. I don't think Tzeli can qualify but maybe she'll surprise us tomorrow. She's young and won a medal at the 2018 Youth Olympics.
  15. Can't believe Telikostoglou won't be in Tokyo, he was a hope to win a medal for us after he got silver at the 2019 World Championships If we don't qualify anyone tomorrow, it will be the second consecutive Olympics with no Greece in taekwondo. This after we won four medals with three different athletes between 2000 and 2008 (one gold and three silver).
  16. Makes me even more proud that our two quotas in wrestling and one quota in table tennis are all from actual Greeks
  17. Thank you everyone! I am so proud of him, he is young but talented. Won some medals in European Championships for youth categories. He was injured but postponing the Games to 2021 helped his chances because it gave him time to recover. So nice to have a second quota in wrestling after Maria Prevolaraki. Would be nice to get a third here but I'm not sure how likely it is. Also nice to be back in men's wrestling for the first time since London 2012 as we missed Rio 2016 which was the first time in several decades that we were not represented in this sport.
  18. In 2008, Greece had 5 rowers at the Beijing Olympics. We had a great 2009-12 cycle, and we ended up sending 10 rowers to London. We did very well in the different age categories too, so it seemed that we would send a big team to Rio. However, we sent 10 rowers once again. Despite that, our young athletes did very well once again so I thought we would have a huge team for Tokyo, but now we will have 3-8 rowers (more likely to be 3-4, maybe 6 with some luck). The big problem in Greek rowing is that we always do well in the age categories, have young athletes for one Olympic cycle and then they disappear and every Olympic cycle the same thing happens. In 2016 we sent Anastasia Vontzou to the Olympic qualification regatta for LW2X, she was just 16 years old at the time. Didn't qualify but later that year she won medals in JW2X at the European and World Championships (with Anneta Kyridou). Now she hasn't competed with the national team since 2018. Just one of the many examples of people who I thought would totally qualify for Tokyo but didn't. She is still only 21 years old and still rowing, it says she's graduating this year so maybe there's hope for Paris: https://goaztecs.com/sports/womens-rowing/roster/anastasia-vontzou/6910 What a shame that Asoumanaki/Nikolaidou finished 4th in W2X in Rio, they were the youngest team (19 and 23) and now neither will be going to Tokyo . And Ioannis Petrou was 6th in LM4- in Rio, he was just 20 years old at the time and never competed again after that year. There is clearly a problem with the national team if everyone is always retiring at young ages.
  19. At first glance, I said Chile and Croatia should make it. Then I noticed that Fie Udby Erichsen will be competing for Denmark (I was surprised to not see her in W1X, but now I know why), and Rasmussen who was part of the W4- that already qualified for Tokyo and she also won bronze in W2- in Rio. So I'd say Denmark are the favourites to qualify here, which leaves one spot for Chile/Croatia. And of course Germany and Russia have new teams with girls from their W8+ boats so you never know with them. Would be nice if Croatia can qualify so Greece won't be the only team with U23 athletes in this event.
  20. I don't know much about Prakhatsen until last month really. I didn't know her before then but she is doing very well.
  21. The European Championship was very unbalanced. All of the best rowers were in the same semifinal. At the European Qualification, Kyridou fell into the water a few minutes before the race, so that is why she did so poorly in the final and finished way behind the rest of the field. In the heats she dominated. Let's not forget Kyridou won bronze at the 2020 European Championships at the young age of 21. She also won gold at the last two European U23 Championships, beating out Foester.
  22. Each country is only allowed to send four athletes?
