  1. WHAT A DREAM! 20 YEARS OLD BOTH OF THEM, AND INTO THE FINAL OF SUCH A TOUGH EVENT WITH A WORLD BEST TIME!
  2. Some crazy results today with this weather, hoping maybe our young girls in the women's pair can surprise. They're in lane 6 though...
  3. Congratulations to all of our Polish friends here! I was cheering for Poland in many races today
  4. You are allowed to replace rowers last minute after the regatta already started?
  5. Greece got 4th in W2X in 2016 and Lithuania got 3rd, so I guess sometimes you get bronze and sometimes 4th. It happens
  6. Great work, thanks for this. It is quite interesting. As for Greece, I think we didn't have many medal chances yet, and many will come over the weekend and Monday with gymnastics (Petrounias) tennis (Tsitsipas and mixed doubles), sailing (a few of them), men's long jump (Tentoglou), men's rowing single sculls (Ntouskos), women's 25 pistol shooting (Korakaki), and men's 50 freestyle (Gkolomeev). So hopefully some of those will win medals.
  7. I won't get into it because you probably don't know any better but but that's wildly inaccurate in so many ways...
  8. What an embarrassing choke from Greece. We led Italy 6-2 after the third period and the match ended in a draw 6-6. Obviously still a good result but never should've drawn from that position...
  9. "Be careful what you wish for" Congrats to your Elina...
  10. http://sportsfeed.gr/meion-ena-melos-i-elliniki-apostoli/ Sad news. The Greek team got tested before traveling to Tokyo. Unfortunately one of the duet girls tested positive for covid and will not be going to Tokyo with the rest of the girls. They didn't say yet who it is, so it's either Evangelia Papazoglou or Evangelia Platanioti (I guess we will find out eventually). I feel so sad. Also it says that the reserve athlete will take her spot in the team event, but that Greece will not be competing in the duet. I do not know if that was Greece's decision or the IOC/FINA's rules. EDIT-According to Wikipedia it is Evangelia Platanioti. And Papazoglou posted an Instagram story at the airport which confirms it's Platanioti. At least Platanioti got to go to London and Rio but this is still sad.
  11. Yes it was raining but now the rain stopped and matches on other courts are starting soon
  12. He made mistakes that he wasn't making earlier on. Actually lost 12 in a row because he quickly went down 0-3 in the next set. He then saved a match point in the 7th set and had another two of his own but couldn't convert. So 9 match points lost. So sad. He played the match of his life for the first three and a half sets.
  13. Gionis 41 years old, in his 5th Olympics, looking to make the round of 16 for the first time. Up 3-1 10-3 and loses 9 points in a row... I don't see him turning this around now, what a choke...
  14. Our young swimmer Konstantinos Englezakis won't be competing in Tokyo due to injury He reached OQT in the men's 800 freestyle and also got invited for 200 and 400, but was only going to swim the 800 due to his injury but now he won't be able to be ready by then I am happy though that he got to travel to Tokyo and attend the Opening Ceremony where very few Greek athletes actually went to march in the parade
  15. Vasileia Karachaliou still in 2nd place after 4 races
  16. You must be happy for Vekic though, no?
  17. For Europe you mean, or? Cause Greece, Czechia, and Portugal are all a little bigger than Sweden by population, though all four countries are between 10 and 11 million people.
  18. Yeah I knew about Monday. I remember this happening in Rio too. It's not uncommon in rowing, happened earlier this year at the European Olympic qualification regatta too. Also the Dutch rowers have these measures to deal with because of Finn Florijn?
  19. Looks like no rowing Monday or Tuesday in Tokyo
  20. Based on her surname, Lucie Anastassiou (shooting) has Greek origins
  21. Sad that Anna Ntountounaki missed out on the finals in the women's 100 butterfly. She was so close finishing 9th, but with a new NR I can't complain! Best result for a Greek female swimmer at the Olympics since 2004. She has improved so much, I hope she can continue this and make the final in Paris, though she is already 25 years old.
  22. Disappointing for Anna to not win a medal after a great qualification round, but 6th is still a good result and I am proud of her. Unfortunately many people in Greece don't understand the sport and their expectations are too high after she won medals in both of her events in Rio, they think she will do that every time. Obviously shooting is so tricky and unpredictable, it will be very hard for her to ever win two medals at the same Games again even if she is still very young for the sport.
  23. Vasileia Karachaliou finished 2nd in the first race of the women's laser radial
