  1. A great result. The rest of today has been rather mixed for Team GB so far - some great performances in the Rugby (Just about) and Tennis and Sailing but some disappointing performances elsewhere. Boxing not looking as sharp as expected. They will do well to match their Rio total medal - which probably means Team GB not making the 45-52 medal range.
  2. I think it will be gone or heavily amended so that it can be like Judo and Takewondo and not need judges.
  3. That’s better. It would have been a tedious watch otherwise.
  4. Am I right in thinking all team members go consecutively? Or are they going in rotation so we don’t have to wait till the end to see the top 3?
  5. Good chance of a gold today in team dressage.
  6. Disappointment for GB to not win a gold at these games. Be interesting to see if funding levels survive two silvers and maybe one bronze. The sport has become more popular in the UK through - I don’t remember this hype even back when Jade Jones won in 2012 and 2016. British sporting history is often defined by cruel and agonising last minute defeats which is sport perfectly fits.
  7. Unlike the Gymnastics yesterday the BBC pundits really dislike the Russian swimmers and did not approve of the Backstroke result.
  8. Firs time since 1908 two different Brits have won gold medals in Swimming and also first time since 1908 two British Men have medaled in the same event. A great result.
  9. Not according to the official Tokyo website.
  10. According to the official Tokyo 2020 website God Save the Queen (rather than the local Bermuda Anthem) will be played for Duffy’s medal ceremony which will be fascinating to see.
  11. I think the Team GB women are going to be surprisingly shut out of the medals here (Of course Duffy is a British Citizen as well)
  12. Bravo of Ecuador also falls but it looks like she will continue.
  13. The IOC biggest nightmare is China and Russia setting up a anti American games and pulling entirely out of the Olympics.
  14. They will play Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong on Wednesday in the quarter finals. The Hong Kong pair were world bronze medalists in 2018 so will be very tough but who knows - Ellis and Smith looks to be in good form.
  15. After Day 3 GB have beaten the gold totals of 1896, 1904, 1952, 1960 and 1996. They have equalised with 1928, 1948 and 1976. In terms of total medals they have beaten 1904 and equalised 1896
  16. I am just doing it by the last person eliminated by a Russian and moving medals up accordingly. It’s not obviously that accurate but it shows it’s impact of the CAS ruling.
  17. I will be shocked if Dawson can even get fourth on the strength of her semi swim. I feel Abbie Wood is the more likely female GB Swimmer capable of springing a surprise bronze if she makes the 200 IM final through she is much more likely to finish fourth or fifth. Molly Renshaw is likely to be in a similar position in the 200m Breastroke.
  18. The weather is said to be awful in Tokyo atm so is this going to go ahead as scheduled?
  19. Oops. For some reason I thought the events were over two days not three.
  20. These are daily medals per country had Russia remained Banned as WADA wanted. Day 1 Switzerland - +1 Silver Norway + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Argentina + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Day 2 Bulgaria + 1 Gold China + 1 Silver Ukraine + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Germany + 1 Silver Belarus + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Italy + 1 Silver (Additional Medal) South Korea + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Refugee + 1 Silver (Additional Medal) Day 3 France + 1 Gold Hungary + 1 Silver (Additional Medal) Either China or USA + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) - China also +1 Silver Japan + 1 Gold GB + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Jordan + 1 Gold Egypt + 1 Silver Norway + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal) Mexico + 1 Bronze (Additional Medal)
  21. For tommrow The main Medal Hopes are Duncan Scott in the Swimming, Bianca Walken in the Taekwondo, the team dressage and any one of the British Trio in the Women’s Triathlon. Possibly but not likely hopes are Thomas Dean in the swimming, Eden Cheng and Lois Toulson in the diving ,Mahama Cho in the Taekwondo and the rugby sevens. Any other medals would be massive upsets,
  22. Only some - some sports have the ability to get a lot more private funding than others. Also it depends on the grassroots ability of a sport - those with better grassroots and ability to get kids into sport will fare better than those like Rowing where a lot of people don’t take up till late teens.
