  1. I will open the thread this Friday 19th June and registration will take place immediately. That means participants will need to send me a private message during the registration period to tell me which nation they are representing.
  2. This evening, the Eurovision Channel are showing the replay of the 1988 contest in Dublin. The contest is famous as the one where Celine Dion participated. It begins in 5 mins time, link is here:
  3. I love it
  4. On the day of the Closing Ceremony on the old Olympic schedule (i.e. Sunday 9th August)
  5. You don't need to produce a video.... but maybe you could find something(s) on Youtube? . Like just one video even But since you just woke up from your TISC hibernation, maybe I should let you rest.... as long as you got TISC Open 2020 covered
  6. Is it too much to ask if @heywoodu could produce a TISC Open Netherlands 2020 teaser on the day of the closing ceremony?
  7. Sure that's a good idea too. We can either add it in during the day of the Opening Ceremony or else during the days scheduled as voting days.
  8. Match judges and who they voted for will be kept secret.... AIBA would love this
  9. I was so happy when I booked time off work for the 2 week duration of the Olympics. Little did I know the Olympics would be cancelled and I would be organising this
  10. Ok and this is just so I can get my head around the logistics of this. An example of what a schedule may look like if we had something like 32 participants and 8 groups of 4. I have factored in a day for repechages in case we cannot simplify to 16 after the group stages and also voting days before the semi-finals and the medal matches to give extra time for members to vote in these important stages of the contest. The problem is I will not be available for some of those days as I will be on holiday from work at that time and I want to spend time doing other things Also any ideas for TISC tributes? I think it's also fitting since this is a milestone TISC year with edition #15 coming up so will be nice to have some tributes or celebrations. 11. I am guessing the contest is meant to last for the duration of the old Olympic schedule? If so that is July 22nd - August 9th. I will see what kind of schedule that allows for in terms of time allocated for group stage and knockout rounds. I was thinking on the day the Opening Schedule was supposed to happen we can host some nice TISC tribute. No matches on that day just like in the Olympics. Maybe that re-run of first ever TISC.
  12. Ok so I think after all entries are registered we can draw the groups and allocate the jurors to the matches. The jurors have until the beginning of the first matchday in the groups to vote on their matches in the group stage. After the group stages we will invite increasing numbers of jurors to vote in each round until the final medal matches where everyone will vote.
  13. I think in my original plan having random jurors for each match seemed reasonable as i thought everything was going to be pre-planned and all votes cast in advance. That way we would know the number of participants, how to equally divide the juries so they vote in same amount of matches etc. But it's too messy now and I foresee a lot of headaches as it will be a day-to-day thing. So yes I think where possible having the easiest solutions is going to be how to organise this. Alternatively, I am happy to hand over management of the contest as surely others will make a better job of it in the time given. I just can't dedicate enough time over that period unfortunately so that's why I'm looking at the most manageable options.
  14. I think the easiest way to solve the jury voting in each match is just to allow everyone to vote in each match except for those jurors who have songs in that group.
  15. No one will be disqualified for not voting, there is no need for that. And about the nations, that's fine too, first come first serve, all complaints go to @dcro We can go for any match points format, like I said, it is of no difference to me really. But we need solutions for every scenario as well as exact format for when each voting round begins. Because the problem is, I will also not be available every day so it's very tricky with this format of voting day-to-day.
  16. Ok so I have drawn up a quick set of guidelines. This is just a draft and not complete. I just need to write something down so I have some idea what we are dealing with and to see what users think and want. Have a read through and comment regarding any aspect. Also, the format of the group matches in terms of match points, let me know if you want a simple format like 3 points for win, 1 point for draw kind of format. And I have written that users can represent the same nation providing they enter a different song? I'm not sure if this is what you want? It's probably the least messy though and allows all participants to be happy that they can choose relatively freely. We will also need to discuss when jurors get to vote... I mean if we assign 10 jurors to vote in a match and some don't vote then what happens? If we aren't pre-preparing anything then we need to cover those scenarios or else it will become a mess. Totallympics International Song Contest - Special Event Rules: Participants will represent nations who have never taken part in a TISC event. Participants will keep their entries secret and send their choice via private message to the host organiser @OlympicIRL. Participants must not share with each other which song they have entered as this will all be revealed at the end of the contest. There will be no multi-juries. Members from the same nation are free to choose any nation they wish so long as that nation has not taken part in TISC previously. Participants may represent the same nation, as long as they have entered with different songs. The competition will follow a round-robin group stage format followed by a knock-out phase to determine the champions. The specific format will be finalised when the final number of participants is known. Each match will consists of 1 vs 1 contests between songs with a select number of jurors (members) voting on each match. The jurors voting will not be revealed until the end of the contest so that the maximum level of secrecy can be kept intact. Jurors will not be involved in the matches of their own songs. Where possible, each juror will vote on an equal amount of matches. All jurors will be asked to vote in the medal matches. The jurors voting in each match will be decided in advance of the contest by random draw and will be kept secret. Jurors will be informed in advance by private message from the organiser as to which matches they will be voting on and the times allocated to their voting schedule. The results of the matches will be revealed at a set time each day. The full schedule will be finalised when the final number of participants is known. Window opens for members to register and enter their song (via private message). Friday June 19th Window closes for members to register and enter their song (via private message). Friday July 10th Points Scoring Format For Group Stages: 10 Jurors vote in each match: Win by 10-0 = 5 points Win by 9-1 = 4 points Win by 8-2 = 4 points Win by 7-3 = 3 points Win by 6-4 = 3 points Draw 5-5 = 2 points Lose by 4-6 = 1 point Lose by 3-7 - 1 point Lose by 2-8 = 0 points Lose by 1-9 = 0 points Lose by 0-10 = -1 point
  17. Yes absolutely. So a fair system would be to have each member voting in equal amount of matches in group stage. In knock outs then we can perhaps keep increasing the number of jury members voting in each match. Or at least making sure that every member votes in each round. And in the final everyone votes.
  18. I will come up with a plan for the format by this weekend and post it here for you all to comment. I will probably decide to go for the groups and knockout system with 1 v 1 matches like we discussed and with random jury members voting in each match. Also participants’ song choices will remain hidden. I don’t think it’s going to be anything spectacular since it will just be revealing day to day who won the various matches but it’s something unique from TISC which is good. And since we have milestone TISC #15 coming up soon then I think it will be ok for this special event to be more low-key and different in style.
  19. Yes this will need to be decided soon and we haven’t received many suggestions in the meantime. I think the Totallympics Games are cancelled now. So is it still wise for us to pursue a multi-day format? How do we maximise the amount of interest in the contest? Having one single day for a live show? Or if it is just split into groups and revealing results of matches each day, is that also interesting enough? I am happy to do either but I will need to know for sure by next week. And also if it’s split over multiple days, there might be problem with organising it as I may not be available every one of those days since I am on holiday for those 2 weeks and will probably spend some time going on local trips (depending on virus situation of course).
  20. Not even close, but it was by far the best this year.
  21. Iceland, the real winners
  22. I think it's for the best this year's contest was cancelled... the entries were dreadful
  23. Man this is even more cheesy than usual
  24. Same I have no idea what to expect but since there’s nothing else going on I’ll give it a try
