  1. Hard fought match from the Italians, but Canada squeaks out the 5-3 win
  2. Hip injury for Totsuka who has been taken to the hospital for examination
  3. Yes Hirano!! Suck it Shaun, go grab your helmet from the crowd
  4. See above post
  5. I would LOVE to see someone beat White now after that cocky celebration.
  6. Well, a 94.25 and he's in first place. So maybe the helmet toss was deserved
  7. Hahahah Shaun White throws his helmet into the crowd, he still has three runs left!!
  8. Wow, mistake by Italy allows Canada to steal 1 through 6 ends. I was starting to get very nervous! But then again, Italians have played very well and its not over yet
  9. My biggest fear was that she would slide back head first into what is essentially a concrete wall. Luckily she was able to sit up and absorb the impact with her back.
  10. Very very good news. That crash could have easily left her paralyzed
  11. Wow! Another exciting day, highlighted by Alex Gough making history in winning Canada's first ever luge medal. Truly historic after three 4th place finishes in luge in Sochi. The Canadian mixed doubles team dominated from start to finish in the final. Congrats to John Morris and Kaitlyn Lawes for capturing the inaugural gold medal in that event, and dominating throughout the entire competition In short track, unfortunate to see Marianne DQd at the start, but great to see a medal from Kim Boutin in the women's 500m. She's 4th in the World Cup so it was nice to see her on the podium. And it's only the beginning as she's currently ranked 1st in the 1000m and 3rd in the 1500m. Look out for her as we go forward for more potential short track medals. Again, to no surprise the Women's hockey team defeats Finland. Looking forward to the premier matchup against out neighbours to the South on Thursday. Tomorrow will be a great chance to catch our breath, as we likely won't see any Canadian medals. There's an outside shot for Walker/Smith in Luge Doubles, but that's about it. On the brighter note our men's curlers start their Gold Medal defense against Italy and Team GB tomorrow.
  12. Very true
  13. Now Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping are the only sports in which Canada has never won a medal!
  14. Bronze medal for Alex Gough!!!!!! History for Canada!
  15. Kim McRae lays down a great run!
  16. What a horrific crash, lucky that Sweeney sat up or else she would have gone head first into the wall. Could have been a lot worse
  17. Wow, Kaitlyn Lawes playing SO well
  18. Yes that's exactly my point. There is no doubt Norwegians used to use skiis a lot in their daily lives, but no longer do because of cars, etc. Naturally, they are skills that are then passed down to generations for recreation and sport. And agreed, it is nonsense for a very long time, and Couric was insinuating that people still skate everywhere in the Netherlands, which is not true, which makes what she said incredibly ignorant and stupid. However, the basis of her point is not entirely inaccurate.
  19. As dumb as this sounds, every article that I google on why the Dutch are so good ties back to this very same point. People may not skate anymore, but the prevalence of canal systems means that much of transport historically was done on skates, often by strapping bones to the bottom of shoes. Naturally, people grew up as strong skaters. So really, Couric isn't that far off, but she did make it seem like that's what people do all of the time today.
  20. No they cannot. They would be blown out by practically any men's team. They're too small and not quick enough compared to the men
  21. Interesting: due to sanctions by the United States and UN against North Korea, they are not allowed to use proper equipment manufactured in other countries. However, when they arrived in PyeongChang they were given proper equipment, but will have to return it when they leave the Games.
  22. Edit: realized Bergsma has not been on top form this season
  23. Think she can beat Bergsma?
  24. Ah great, looks like another Dutch sweep in the making!
