Yeah, it looks like Chile will have a similar performance relative to 2018. That's not a terrible thing when you consider Brazil came to play here and won over 100 more medals relative to 2018. A result like that essentially pushes everyone down so staying the same can be seen as an improvement.

have qualified their first athlete to the Olympics -
There's still the family issue, it won't be an easy decision if she decides to drop to 52kg.
-
63kg is just as tough while her sister is in 52kg, she doesn't really have many options.

Glad to see the men's side showing some life. Hopefully the can develop in time for the Olympics. -
Funding cuts make it difficult to field a team. It also doesn't help that their rugby sevens team has dropped in quality recently with both Jamaica and Mexico overtaking Guyana as the best teams outside of Canada/USA.

Venezuela still has almost twice as many medals as Ecuador so it's not as bad as it looks. They are just struggling for golds while Ecuador has made the most of their chances. You are correct that Venezuela has dropped off. They are clearly a step below the top three nations now and depending on how funding continues post-2023 Pan American Games they may be competing with Chile for the foreseeable future.

Even from a quotas perspective it wouldn't be too difficult to keep the individual event. Obviously all nations which competed in the team event would compete in the individual event and then you only need a few more to round out the event. I personally have a soft spot for the elimination race and would love to see it at the Olympics one day. -

has earned its first quota. Ignoring as they are suspended, now holds the title of "most surprising Olympic non-qualifier" with over 150 more athletes and 4 more medals from 2020 than the next highest non-qualifying nation ( who will likely get a quota here I imagine). -

Not sure, from a strategic point of view it would make sense for the South American nations not eligible for the CAC Games to make this one of their eligible competitions, but that probably doesn't help us since the highest ranked nations will also compete at the CAC Games. In my mind and were probably confident enough that they would win here to use this as one of their competitions, the others may have hedged their bets and went with the CAC Games and the 2023 PABCON Championships, but we probably won't know for sure until they publish the qualifiers.

No, he's competing at the World Championships

Any chances for ? I'm not seeing it unless they can luck out in wrestling?

So close for They should be the favourites against any team, but a bad game can kill their chances.

Wonder what happens if both Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago men's teams qualify through the CAC Games since there won't be any more teams at the Pan Am Cup. Probably to the highest ranked nation via the world rankings (which would currently go to Peru). Of course, T&T finishing top two isn't guaranteed. Cuba tends to show up to the CAC Games.

Canada up to 14th in the world rankings. We'd need to go up at least 3 more spots (4 if Russia gets unbanned) in order to be in a decent position to qualify to the Olympics. -
Canada's judo team is currently in the "has a good team, but few medal favourites" stage which can be thrilling and frustrating.
