  1. Except no Democrats were prosecuted in the Trump era. The right accepts political opposition. The left criminalises it. Same in Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Israel and France, where prominent political figures all face criminal charges at the hands of the left-controlled magistrature.
  2. Exactly. Even in Stalinist Russia & Nazi Germany they took care to charge their opponents with actual crimes before eliminating them. They had trials, defense attorneys, juries, accounts in the newspapers....all the formalities & legalities were observed. And many otherwise sensible people living in free countries at the time were indeed convinced that Dimitrov, Zinoviev, Slánsky etc were guilty.
  3. USA takes a big step to Czechoslovakia 1948. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-56921179
  4. If it is only v I will still celebrate!
  5. My brother’s just bought a house in England: that’s probably why.
  6. It’s a big Commonwealth sport - Aus, NZ, some African countries, Singapore etc etc. In Australia it’s a big sport because there’s some legal scam that allows bowls clubs to sell cheap drink & have gambling machines as well as playing bowls. Sort of like golf clubs, but take up much less space.
  7. Hurling/shinty is a sport that very frequently removes eyeballs. My theory is that it was invented by dentists to fill their quiet Monday schedules.
  8. We in Scotland are also being allowed out into the prison yard for exercise. Was at the pool today and an alcohol-free cafe for lunch.
  9. Did Alaphillipe blow it again?
  10. 2012 Long Jump Gold Medallist Greg Rutherford joins the British Bobsleigh squad for summer training. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/winter-olympics/56871454
  11. We got live Athletics tomorrow night! Continental Gold meet from Eugene, Oregon! Details here. https://www.usatf.org/events/2021/2021-usatf-grand-prix-at-oregon-relays
  12. Phil “From the depths of Hell” Healey’s legendary 400m last leg has a rival. https://www.theguardian.com/global/video/2021/apr/22/dog-breaks-loose-to-wins-relay-race-in-us-high-school-track-event-video?CMP=oth_b-aplnews_d-1
  13. Yeah, but it’s cup-tie football. Anything can happen in the early rounds.
  14. Tragically, a bullet ricocheted off a car behind him & entered the back of his skull, having split into five pieces.
  15. “Let’s see, does anyone still have any old maps from 1968.....”.
  16. Tom Dumoulin puts in a kind of Alfred Hitchcock appearance as the Amstel Gold goes past his street.
  17. A tragic story. The A68 iceberg has met the fate of all icebergs, without even a single sunk liner to boast about. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-56779687
  18. Enric Mas heading for home in yellow in the Valencia ITT, looking like he had defended his lead from a strong performance by Stefan Küng - punctures with 500m to go! Loses 1:26, drops down to third overall, Küng into yellow. Flat city-centre circuit sprint day tomorrow, so no chance of getting anything back.
  19. Pretty sure that if you took [medals won divided by pop size multiplied by a coefficient of range of sports] and controlled for the Bolt factor, then the winner for summer & winter combined would be , winter only , summer only .
  20. These are on Amazon Prime, if you have that.
  21. It’s an advert for a trashy action & crime TV channel. “If we did sport, this is what it would be like.”
  22. Plus we saw at the World Curling last week that the whole event was almost ruined by a single false positive anomaly.
  23. I think you have to factor in a range of sports somehow. In the modern world especially it’s notable that nations can pile up a lot of medals quickly by concentrating resources on a single sport. Also, I think by including events only since 1996 you have created a bit of an anomaly with Usain Bolt & Jamaica.
  24. It’s the only way they can see hills.
  25. Diamond League Meet 1 being transferred from Rabat, to Gateshead, ? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/othersports/article-9475471/Second-British-Diamond-League-meeting-added-calendar-Gateshead.html
