And this is why you don't wait until the last damn time to get a quota. :wall: Get it early, because stuff like this always happens in last chance tournaments. Nikolova got a big head after her success in the last couple of years and fumbled so much in the past 10 months..

Sadly Nikolova recently is acting more like a model in her instagram posts then anything close to professional athlete. I am not surprised. Hopefully today Yaneva and Mimi Hristova will succeed and get the quotas with today's matches for :BUL.

Ugly or not, we deserved some luck after our two best, Nazaryan and Milov got injuries, when it mattered the most.. We could have had 4, but will get only the 2.

Which wrestlers both female or male can win quotas for :BUL during next three days in your opinion?

  3. Finally Bulgaria :BUL with a quota from the Championship, won by Semen Novikov in Men's Greco-Roman 87kg.

However performance from Bulgarian team was below expectations. We won 3 bronze medals (2 in Non-Olympic categories). I truly hope our wrestlers will take their lessons and come stronger in last two Olympic qualifications.

:BUL David Fischerov was supposed to make weight at 102 kg, but was in a car accident, while on his way to the airport.. Now after missing the WC he won't be at the Olympics. Really bad luck for this guy. He had a great Euro last year, but after that picked up an injury for many months and now this.

BTW, aren't we allowed maximum three weightlifters for the Paris 2024 Olympics? If that is so I think the ones will be Carlos Nassar, Bozhidar Andreev and maybe Hristo Hristov. Fisherov had no chances.

  6. :BUL is sending a team of 23 wrestlers. Wishing them good luck.

    Men's Freestyle

    • Georgi Vangelov - 57kg
    • Stilyan Iliev - 61kg
    • Mikyay Naim - 65kg
    • Ramazan Ramazanov - 70kg
    • Ali-Pasha Umarpashev - 74kg
    • Mihail Georgiev - 79kg
    • Iliya Hristov - 86kg
    • Ahmed Magamaev - 92kg
    • Ahmed Bataev - 97kg
    • Islam Adizov - 125kg

    Greco-Roman

    • Edmond Nazaryan - 60kg
    • Abu-Muslim Amaev - 63kg
    • Ivo Iliev - 67kg
    • Stoyan Kubatov - 72kg
    • Ayk Mnatsakanyan - 77kg
    • Semen Novikov - 87kg
    • Kiril Milov - 97kg

    Women's Freestyle

    • Evelina Nikolova - 57kg
    • Dzhanan Manolova - 59kg
    • Bilyana Dudova - 62kg
    • Mimi Hristova - 65kg
    • Yuliyana Yaneva - 68kg
    • Sofia Georgieva - 72kg

The biggest absentee is Taybe Yusein (bronze medalist from Tokyo), Miglena Selishka and Georgi Ivanov.

My high hopes are for at least 3-5 quotas for most likely Edmond Nazaryan, Kiril Milov, Evelina Nikolova, Yuliyana Yaneva and Bilyana Dudova.

According to the qualification pathway document, as the quota was won at the World Championships, it should be reallocated to the next athlete from the World Champs - so it would go to Bulgaria.

The commentators at the official stream explained just after the finish that AINs cannot win quotas. But if thay finish at the quota position the World Rowing will not award this quota to other NOC at the moment. They will have to decide later how to deal with it. So there 3 ways:

    1)  Add it to the Final Regatta as Adriano has mentioned (most probable)

    2) Reallocate to the Bulgarian rower - but yes, Bulgarian rowing federation has to act fast and insist on it.

    3) Return it to AIN later (which looks questionable)

And it is only the first qualififcation event with AINs. Let`s imagine what chaos will happen at the World Wrestling Championships.

Thank you all for explanation. Hopefully the quota will finally be distributed to the bulgarian rower. Time will tell.

I think World Rowing is doing wrong. And the quota should go to the Bulgarian rower.

Is there an information when this quota will be distributed? I think Bulgarian rowing federation has to act fast. Any other distribution of it instead of bulgarian rower will be incorrect.

The commentators mentioned at the official broadcast that AIN athletes cannot qualify boat since they do not represent NOC and a NOC only can qualify a boat.

But the quoata which they "won" will not be automatically redistributed to the next eligible athlete. It does not look fair enough.

World Rowing will held these quotas.

How is this fair. Which criteria will they use? Bulgarian rower should be eligible.

@Bulgaria87 Nice to see a fellow Bulgarian join the family :yes (yes, this is the Fast & Furious of sporting forums ). Don't be shy to join the discussions and share what you like to watch and follow.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. Deffinetely will join the discussions, especially where bulgarians are present. Today we have good news with a quota in rowing. Hopefully there will be another one on Sunday in men's single sculls. Keep fingers crossed.
