  1. The whole point of nations like GB, Germany, France and Netherlands introducing new equipment at this meet is precisely because UCI requires the same material to be available to all teams - smaller nations may not be able to afford the same kit, but it doesn't stop them from getting on to the podium.
  2. Doesn't look like are going to re-run their team pursuit. Results system now showing Japan as having qualified in 8th.
  3. Great performance from women's team sprint to top qualifying list. This has traditionally been our weakest track cycling event and shows the progress achieved under McCulloch. Her going back to Australia is going to be a big loss to the squad.
  4. If the commentators are correct, will have the option to go again? I assume if they have the option, then they will take it.
  5. There were no denied visas for athletes going to commonwealth games last year and that has a pretty heavy contingent of African athletes. That being said, can quite easily believe that there have been delays - the UK Home Office is not known as a model of operational efficiency.
  6. Probably worst competition in a long while from Bryony Pitman going down in straight sets to Rebagliati. Penny Healey also struggled but managed to find a bit of form to come through 6-4 against Marchenko.
  7. For anyone who has a VPN, BBC is currently showing the qualifying rounds from day 1 of action.
  8. Looking at some of the scores being posted in the individual competition, I am guessing the conditions must be pretty grim in Berlin - some athletes scoring low teens with 3 arrows!.
  9. To be fair, the secretary-general of the Eritrean Cycling Federation, Misghina Haile, told BBC Tigrinya that no Eritrean cyclist had been denied a visa so quite possible that GCN is trying to make a story out of nothing.
  10. So all men crash out of the competition in the first round - really not sure what has happened to Monty Orton, his performance is way down on what he achieved in European Games last month. On women's side, Louisa Piper pulled off a bit of a shock by taking out world number 22 Kuo Tzu Ying
  11. Funnily enough, I took the "Single course" bit as the key wording but reading more of the rules suggests you are probably right. The routes can be different, they just need to have similar difficulty and character.
  12. Team GB are going to be debuting their new Olympic bike in Glasgow next week as part of package of 64 new pieces kit registered ahead of Paris 2024.
  13. To be honest I'm not sure - the IFSC rulebook says Boulder qualification is organised as a "single course of five (5) boulders for each Starting Group" so I took that as each group had to do the same routes.
  14. As far as I am aware, they all do the same 5 routes in qualifying and the results from the two groups are combined with the top 20 going through to semis. Probably going to need at least 2-3 tops and 5 zones to get through.
  15. That's right - boulder qualifiers take place tomorrow evening after the Men's Lead competition. Bursikova is drawn as 20th starter in group B so will probably be in the 2nd or 3rd hour of qualifying event.
  16. Not sure extent of coverage, but the Commonwealth Sport YouTube channel has a header saying "Live Coverage Here" so might be decent starting point when competition gets under way on Friday.
  17. Interestingly, he is still listed on the start list for tomorrow's Lead qualification - if he's nursing injury, perhaps he would have been better to rest up and focus on the combined event next week.
  18. Doesn't look like there were any major surprises in the qualification for Women's Lead although world numbers 12 -14 ( Eliska Adamovska, Ryu Nakagawa and Natalia Grossman) all finish just outside of the semi-final cut off
  19. So even now, World Archery aren't in a position to confirm which teams will qualify for Paris - maybe nobody could find the wi-fi code so that they could check the qualification document online.
  20. Indonesia pull off the shock of the tournament so far knocking out Korea in women's event and somehow GBR manage to throw away great opportunity to fight for Olympic quota here.
  21. To be honest, shouldn't be regarded as a surprise, they were up against who are 15 places higher in the world ranking and who qualified in 11th compared to GB's 22nd.
  22. Only 5 quotas available for mixed event - awarded at the continental events - the rest of the mixed event is based on the performance in the qualifying event at the Olympics. Basically, if you have both a male and female archer qualified to Paris, you have a chance of getting into the mixed event. You just need to finish in the top 16 nations based on the combined score of your top male and female archers.
  23. Link for live results: IFSC Climbing Result Service
  24. A couple of shocks in the qualifying so far world number 8 Hannes Van Duysen wont progress after failing to zone on the first boulder - he's currently in 25th. Likewise, world number 11 Colin Duffy and number 15 Jan-Luca Posch of have both had a stinker of a day and are down in 45th and 57th respectively.
