  1. Gunnar Holmgren with a 8th place finish in men’s elite at the Novo Meste World Cup! Best ever result for him!
  2. How is his career almost certainly over? He’s young, he’ll have plenty of opportunities in the future.
  3. Andre DeGrasse is entered in the men’s 100m and 200m, Jerome Blake in the men’s 100m, and Charles Philibert-Thiboutot in the men’s 1500m at the Ostrava Golden Spike on May 28. DeGrasse is also entered in the men’s 200m at the Taiwan Athletics Open on June 1, along with Ethan Katzberg in men’s hammer throw. Brendon Rodney is entered in the men’s 200m at the Racers Grand Prix on June 1, along with Michelle Harrison in the women’s 100m hurdles. No Canadians in action at the Oslo Diamond League, surprisingly.
  4. Molly Carlson and Simone Leathead win gold and bronze in women’s cliff diving at the Athens World Series! She even beat the dominant force of the last decade or so (since 2017) Rhiannan Iffland! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C7cKY1QiO_F/?igsh=MWs5endicHJ4MWcyaA== Make this an Olympic event immediately
  5. Has the women’s team competition been removed from the Olympic program or something?
  6. Terris Smith defeats Bulgaria 3-2 to advance to the round of 16 in women’s 60kg! Unfortunately, that’s most likely where her road to Paris will end as she has Broadhurst next.
  7. More curling news. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7ef4XYJXIl/?igsh=MW4ybDVlNjlwYXR3Yg== Bottcher will coach Team Homan towards the next Olympic quad, and will also play mixed doubles with Rachel Homan. Rachelle Brown will also now be a permanent team member. Not really happy about the first two updates… I like Homan but with a partner like Bottcher I can’t root for them. Can’t believe I’m saying this but hopefully they have a really disappointing 2024-25 season that’ll make them rethink the first part of the update…
  8. Born in Canada, but has Romanian parents I believe.
  9. Where can I watch the NCAA Championships? Not really finding much online.
  10. Unforgettable in more ways than one
  11. At the Bob Vigars Classic, highlights include Duan Asemota with a 0.10 PB, clocking 10.03 in the men’s 100m (1.9m/s wind), Ibrahim Ayorinde with a PB of 46.57 in the men’s 100m, Jacqueline Madogo and Sade McCreath 11.21 and 11.28 (although 2.0m/s wind) in the women’s 100m, and Zoe Sherar 52.01 in the women’s 400mx Also we saw the return of Newman, and although she could only manage a 3rd attempt clearance at 4.30m it’s still too early to be worried about her.
  12. Ana Padurariu (artistic gymnastics) 2018 World Championships silver medalist in women’s balance beam. While she hadn’t made the team (we still have an Olympic Trials in a couple of weeks), she had a good shot at it. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7c5Fsio_Vo/?igsh=MWlqN2RrZm0yZDVmaQ==

  14. Espinho Elite16 | Espinho, Portugal Women’s Tournament Gold- Taryn Kloth/Kristen Nuss Silver- Tanja Hüberli/Nina Brunner Bronze- Katja Stam/Raïsa Schoon Real story here though is the incredibly surprising 4th for Alvarez/Moreno With two tournaments left to go in the qualification period (Stare Jablonki Challenge, Ostrava Elite16), Verge-Depre/Mader cut the lead back down to approximately 250 points with their quarterfinal finish (they also beat Esmee/Zoe in qualies) Men’s Tournament Gold- David Åhman/Jonothan Hellvig Silver- Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler Bronze- George Wanderley/Andre Stein Ahman/Hellvig are winning gold at Paris. There, I said it. Full Results Up next, the final Challenge of the Olympic qualification period in Stare Jablonki from May 30- June 2!
  15. 6/6! Ethan Katzberg with another win at the Meeting International de Forbach, recording a best mark of 80.12m! For someone who’s been on the road for the past week, competing at four meets in different European countries, that’s a good sign for Paris. I will add that the 2nd place finisher Chaussinand was less than 1m behind though.
  16. First win! Junior Petanqui with a 5-0 win over Seychelles in the men’s 71kg round of 64.

  18. Gold for our women’s eight at the Lucerne World Cup! Beat a very talented field which included United States, Australia, and Great Britain. 4th for Jenny Cassons/Jill Moffatt in women’s lightweight double sculls.

  21. From my tournament analysis, Cozens, Bedard, Tavares, and maybe Binnington are the only ones in contention right now, at least as far as the NHL Four Nations Face-Off goes (and a potential Olympic roster, but a lot more things can change between now and then)
  22. Had to take some time to recover from the game today, as it was an extremely disappointing result, but Canada lost 2-3 to Switzerland in the shootouts during the semifinals. Pretty puzzling choices for the shootout (fuck you Tourigny) besides Bedard, with Dubois, Severson, and Power. If I was him, I would’ve picked Tavares, Mercer, and Hagel. Also, not sure what he was fucking thinking giving Bedsy hardly any playing time, especially during OT. You’d think he hates him. Really hope he isn’t our coach for the Olympics, otherwise we’re screwed… Swiss goalie Genoni was on fire though, even if he did let in the game tying goal with a couple of minutes left in the 3rd period, so props to him. Oh and FYI, this is only the 2nd time in the last 9 editions that we’ve failed to advance to the gold medal match (2018 we also lost to Switzerland…) Bronze medal match against Sweden tomorrow.
  23. COMPLETELY. OUT. OF. NOWHERE. Thomas Fafard (hadn’t heard of him before today) with the performance of his lifetime (by a mile) recording a HUGE new PB of 13:05.07 in the men’s 5000m at the IFAM Outdoor Brussels!!! (Approximately an 18 second improvement on his 13:22.93) Misses out on the Olympic qualifying standard by 0.07 but still an incredible result. He’s now lowered his PB by 28 (!!) seconds in the last two weeks.
  24. CANADIAN RECORD ALERT!! 28:09 for Benjamin Flanagan in the men’s 10km road race at the Canadian 10km Championships!! 28:40 for Rory Linkletter as well!
