  1. v. for gold, and v. for bronze.
  2. Well for Canada we can never seem to escape them (this has been going on for many Olympics in a row), hence why there’s some frustration. I mean, we’re even 4th in 4th place finishes. Personally, I choose to remember both the good and bad moments equally, as neither outweigh the other.
  3. Oh boy, do I have something to tell you…
  4. Today was a good, but not a great day. Highlight was obviously our men’s 4x100m relay winning gold to upgrade from their bronze in Rio 2016 and silver in Tokyo 2020. Katie Vincent/Sloan MacKenzie won bronze in women’s C2-500m (came in as the favourites for silver) after being in second for the majority of the race, a medal is a medal though. Melissa and Brandie fell just shy in the women’s beach volleyball gold medal match, losing to Duda/Ana Patricia in 3, but if you’d have told me before the Olympics began that they’d make it to this point, I wouldn’t have believed you. Really proud of them. Kelsey Mitchell advanced to the 1/8th finals in women’s sprint, Nathan Zsombor-Murray and Rylan Wiens advanced to the semifinals in men’s 10m platform, Mariam Abdul-Rashid’s PB of 12.60 in the women’s 100m hurdles semifinals, and Arop advancing to the final in men’s 800m were other highlights. Off the top of my head there was only one disappointment, and unfortunately it was a big one with Sarah Mitton bombed out of the women’s shot put final in wet weather conditions. Another medal contender failing to convert.
  5. Are you not going to answer the question? Alright then. Edit: Sorry for the tone, I just feel like I’m always getting 3v1’d. It’s tiring.
  6. I feel so bad for Brandie. Her comments on Instagram are getting BOMBARDED by the Brazilians with hate comments…
  7. Ah thanks, I was just assuming since he seems to get lots of love on social media, glad to see that I’m wrong You can’t deny though that Brazilian fans are sometimes (and more so than other countries) toxic right? Not all of them of course, though when it comes to volleyball, and the Turkish fans against Brazilian fans, it can get pretty messy. Speaking of which, how exactly did it start? I never got the backstory.
  8. You mean an entire country?
  9. Oops sorry, the flags are quite similar
  10. You know what, maybe it was a bad idea to mention that. I’ll just keep all my thoughts on her to myself, it’s kind of hard though.
  11. Ana Patricia initiated the argument, and Brandie was the only one to say anything kind (or anything at all really) after the match. In YEARS of watching Brandie play I rarely ever see her get heated like this, can’t exactly say the same for AP. On social media, and in general (not talking about you or any of the users on here by the way) I’ve noticed that Brazilians are some of the most insufferable sporting fans ever, and seem to care more about the result than anything. Take Seyboth-Wild for example, who has domestic abuse allegations against him, has made comments about having “nazi roots” and yet he still gets support from the fans. Not sure how many fans she would have if she wasn’t Brazilian… Anyways, I’ll probably get ganged up on by all the Brazilians on here, but whatever, just needed to let it all out
  12. Fuck it, I know it’s extremely unlikely, but I really hope neither retire and this pairing can stay together for one final Olympics. I just love them both so much
  13. It isn’t? Well then yeah, that rule should definitely get added. Sorry to all of the Brazilians on here for mentioning this (again), but this match reminded me yet again that I can’t stand Ana Patricia (she got heated for no reason, actually it looked like it was because Brandie celebrated axing them too loudly, at least I think so) Anyways this has been the best match the Canadians have played this tournament, by a mile actually, despite losing. And they’re such class acts too (The Brazilians came around to Canada’s bench during their victory lap, and judging by the handshake, the hug, and the smiling and nodding by Ana Patricia when Brandie was talking to you, doesn’t look like there’s any drama) Happy for Hüberli/Brunner as well
  14. Sorry, but it angers me how badly you misspelled their names
  15. @hoversaBR congrats! Think that call on Ana Patricia on SP was a bit iffy, very clearly was an illegal push, but it is what it is.
  16. Well, silver it is. Was hoping for more of course, but them getting here is a win in itself, I’m so proud of them
  17. Brandie and Ana Patricia are heated, holy shit.
  18. Mel/Brandie take the second set 21-12 over Brazil, and we’re going 3!
  19. takes the second set 21-12, and we’re going 3 for the gold!
  20. That was not a legal push by Ana Patricia. Horrible decision by the refs which cost them the set.
