  1. Maybe if she wins the Olympic Gold in Tokyo you'll get to know her better
  2. You're too young to remember the Matrix craze, it was different filming and a different approach to the sci-fi genre. And of course they went full blown sequels after the original success. The entire genre is guilty of covering the script flaws with special effects & battle scenes. The modern compute graphics is absolute king and it will only make the scripts weaker. The entire Star Wars saga can't finish soon enough and I hope it dies forever after the latest episode. The Blade Runner 2049 was a better sequel than I expected and that's a small win for the otherwise tainted genre (and I watched it only because of Harrison Ford. He usually does well in the movie selection but if the original Blade Runner came out now I bet the millenials would flat out reject that as too slow-paced and short on special effects ).
  3. Who runs the California state in first place? It's a Democrats dominated state these days. USA is proud of its federal ways until it doesn't work and you pin the blame on the other party because it's convenient. If there was a success to brag about, you'd sure didn't want to pin it on the GOP federal government Caifornia is the prime reason why democratic sociallism wouldn't work in the USA. You can't handle the shit even with the highest taxes around.
  4. Male sportsman of the year: Johannes-Thinges Boe Female sportsman of the year: Mikaela Shiffrin Team of the year: Men's Rugby Team Junior sportsman of the year (under 20 years old at 1/1/2019): Trevor Lawrence Junior sportswoman of the year (under 20 years old at 1/1/2019): Daria Bilodid Greatest moment of the year: Jorge Masvidal vs Ben Askren Biggest idiot of the year: Antonio Brown Moment of the Year. Yeah, it was a moment alright
  5. I'm a Raiders fan too and guess what, we still have a shot at the playoffs (which would be another Chiefs blowout anyway)
  6. California has the highest income tax among all US states already and you want to raise that? Good luck with that
  7. Hah! I remember when Phantom Menace entered the theatres in 1999 and it was absoutely panned by the critics and even the fans. Matrix beat the hell out of that joint in like 5 seconds. Funny how action movies that feature a strong presence of children actors usually flop big time. I was always a big Schwarzenegger fan but I hated "Last Action Hero" even when I was a teenager. Ender's Game was another flop lately and you can pretty much bet on the sequel never happenning. The entire concept of battleships and pure action-like script has aged a lot when it comes to sci-fi genre. Not to mention the current special effects technology just doesn't win anyone over. These days Star Wars is only nostalgia. The current Rogue trilogy is just a shameless money extortion from the fanbase IMO just like those "limited re-editions" of music albums. If you weren't a Star Wars fan before, you ain't gonna become one now. I fully expect Star Trek to fall in line and get more reboots, their last trilogy wasn't as heralded as some others but hey, you know it's coming
  8. Not a chance IMO. The next generation will be fed the same trick. The Predator, Alien or Friday 13th sagas keep showing up years after years too just to name the obvious ones from the top of my head
  9. Hey, Rambo 5 is in the works too, right? It's not about the Star Wars, it's a general flaw of the movie industry. They're selling three day old fish as the new fish soup. Woeful. Imagine what kind of trash they will revive in the next 20 years
  10. The trilogy ended in 1983 IMO. The rest is just milking money from the original success. No wonder all the prequels & sequels usually suck so badly. The special effects are lipstick on a pig. What are the odds in 15-20 years time we'll have a Star Wars reboot again? It's basically unavoidable given how Hollywood has run out of fresh ideas lately.
  11. Obviously since the original is Polish I watched the original series from 2001 back in the day and man, that sucked ass big time. Polish cinema has never made fantasy movies (it still doesn't) and it showed. Rubber dragons & foam rocks, man that was hilariously bad. Now some of our critics claim it's not that bad but almost 20 years have passed so it's a bit of nostalgia amid the Netflix version. The original actress who played the Yennefer part was 42 years old then, Netflix has cast a girl aged 23 but yeah, it's America and they target the youngsters with this series?
  12. Zubrilova changing nationalities is a well-known fact Slightly less known is Elena Khrustaleva representing three nations during her career or Nathalie Santer competing for Belgium
  13. Okay, I didn't remember that. I used to think mass starts was actually 10k back then
  14. Only Eckhoff finished below 40 minutes, this must be the longest mass start for women ever? Tomasz Sikora said that Kamila Zuk told him the course was basically all mud barely covered by snow due to the persistent rain so I imagine today was the same. The pace was dog slow indeed. Janina Hettich retired in the morning so the second alternate E.Gasparin took her place. Michael Greis was checking yesterday evening if anyone will pull out since Zuk was the first alternate but nobody confirmed so the Polish team packed up early. Guess Greis was fooled by his German buddies after all
  15. It's old news for me. I can't watch any vids on the NBC site either (or that was the case last time I checked last year).
  16. Can't watch it. NBC probably doesn't allow vids to be viewed outside USA
  17. I see Vlhova on the Val d'Isere DH start list at #31.
  18. Davidova 10/10. Vittozzi 9/10, Herrmann 8/10.
  19. Hmm... I know a guy from Newcastle who claims nobody gives a rat's ass about cricket. I'd say rugby is more popular than cricket in the UK
  20. Cricket got a boost the rugby team lost the WC final Polish awards will be announced on January 4th. Stoch & R. Lewandowski are basically locked into Top 3 IMO.
  21. I'd say Vlhova is slightly better looking than Sagan as well
  22. Ah yes, the nu-metal - post-grunge craze of the early 00s. Just about the last time MTV still played music and the world hasn't heard about the spotify crap yet. That didn't age well though - bands like Nickelback or Creed are completely dismissed as irrelevant these days. At least Creed had the poor man's Pearl Jam rip-off vibe to them And this is 20 years old now. I feel a little old
  23. Yeah, but we have the same people running each party for a while. Schetyna is more occupied with keeping his party leadership after he was Tusk's biggest enemy for a long time. There is nobody new in our poitics, well, maybe Zandberg but he's too radical to ever win power. L&J vs CP battle goes on for the last 15 years and people quite frankly don't care about the PR IMO.
