  1. is always the team that nobody bets on but they are usually the ones who cause some kind of upset (it's a common theme for Asian teams who play great defense because they have to).
  2. Yeah, it seemed unlikely when he signed with the Cardinals for the sentimental farewell and we don't have to ponder if he wouldn't retire if he was stuck below 700 by one or two HR.
  3. At this rate van Vleuten won't retire until she's 50 As it's usual the case with Niewiadoma, she found a new way not to win a one-day race but it's obvious Polish team doesn't have the depth to control things the way the Dutch always do.
  4. Poland beats Croatia 3-1
  5. The new Polish Biathlon Federation boss has told Daria Dolidovich (17 years old) she can't train with our national team https://przegladsportowy.onet.pl/sporty-zimowe/biathlon/justyna-kowalczyk-zaskoczona-to-smutne-i-niesmaczne/m1sxl76 This is fucking bullshit alright. Sergei Dolidovich fled Belarus with his daughter a while back and he's working as assistant coach over here but I fear if this decision won't be reversed they will move on to some other country soon. It's a complete waste but sadly ever since the previous boss Waskiewcz shockingly loss the elections in the summer we're going back to the dark days (Adam Kolodziejczyk will have more to say again as member of the board, the new boss Joanna Badacz seems to be merely a puppet). Justyna Kowalczyk was a huge Waskiewicz supporter so I wonder how long she keeps working within the biathlon federation. I feel she quits or gets booted out before 2026 when the next elections should take place.
  6. Yeah, Group A & D play the entire phase in Arnhem, I don't know why Groups B & C couldn't play their phase in Poland from the first match? Anyway, Croatia wins a set vs Poland
  7. Because I was like 14 years old and I liked those swimsuits
  8. Sounds like something I saw during a lifeguard competition on "Baywatch" 25 years ago
  9. Rowing sprints? Wut? Even a 6 minute rowing race is deemed too long by IOC now?
  10. Aaron Judge hit 60th home run last night so he's only one away from AL record set by Roger Maris in 1961 still viewed as the "real" HR record since the Bonds, McGwire & Sosa marks were achieved in the steroid era.
  11. Team Poland squad (as expected Smarzek-Godek is out and so is Martyna Łukasik through injury): SETTERS: Katarzyna Wenerska, Joanna Wołosz RECEIVERS: Monika Fedusio, Zuzanna Górecka, Olivia Różański, Weronika Szlagowska OUTSIDE HITTERS: Monika Gałkowska, Magdalena Stysiak MIDDLE BLOCKERS: Klaudia Alagierska-Szczepaniak, Agnieszka Korneluk, Anna Obiała, Kamila Witkowska LIBERO: Maria Stenzel, Aleksandra Szczygłowska
  12. Reminds me when Victoria Azarenka was described as "Guest" at the 2013 ESPYs awards alongside her then-boyfriend Redfoo (singer who used to be popular back in the day). It just so happened Azarenka was WTA #1 at the time...
  13. Yeah, it's been said over the summer, the Russian forces aren't strong enough to make a significant push to take more land, their main goal was obviously to take Kiev within the first week of the war, maybe have Zelensky flee the country and then have the war end literally two weeks after it has started. It's all gone in the gutter for the Russians though. The recent Kharkiv offensive shows they don't even want to fight a defensive war and don't have the manpower to occupy those areas when they are the ones under attack. The war will most likely last at least two more years unless EU countries suffer from public protests during the winter due to gas shortages & prices rising. That might force EU to stop with the military supply to Ukraine and help the Russians (it's basically their last chance, they're not winning the war with some ancient USSR weapons found in some warehouse in the Kirgizstan desert).
  14. Hopefully the Russian weapons stored for reserve were advanced in 1965 but maybe not in XXI century anymore
  15. 17 year old Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva earns her first WTA main draw victory in Seoul over Chloe Paquet.
  16. I'm fine with the changes
  17. Mayar Sherif saved 12 (as in twelve) match points vs Jessica Maleckova in Budapest WTA 125 R1 match
  18. I still have a feeling we'll drag AJ Slaughter on court in 2025 again
  19. More success today as Katerina Siniakova wins Portoroz title in three sets over Elena Rybakina.
  20. @hckošicewould be happy to know that Linda F. follows ice hockey as I saw her liking Slafkovsky's IG posts
  21. Linda Fruhvirtova wins her maiden WTA title in Chennai! She comes back from one set down and 1-4 in the third set to beat Magda Linette 4-6 6-3 6-4! Her younger sister Brenda won W25 in Italy earlier today and continues her winning ITF streak that is at 25 matches now.
  22. Well, the second SF ended after three games as Katie Swan retired with exhaustion. So it's vs in the final.
  23. Linda Fruhvirtova (age 17 and four months) makes her first WTA final in Chennai. She will also move into Top 100 of the rankings on Monday. The second SF will be Magda Linette vs Katie Swan.
  24. I usually don't notice that either though I'm obviously aware the time outs/fouls are standard procedure in close basketball finishes but since @hckošiceappears to be a new fan of basketball I specifically looked on the clock for that one
