  1. Playoff groups: Group A: Portugal / Cameroon / Thailand Group B: Chile / Senegal / Haiti Group C: Panama / Paraguay/ Chinese Taipei / Papua New Guinea Anyway, two hosts got very favorable groups but New Zealand can crash out versus the two UEFA teams for sure, Sweden & Germany got the easiest groups among the top teams. Given the underwhelming Netherlands performance lately, Portugal is not without a chance to cause an upset if they win their playoff match.
  2. Lack of snow in October... even on Matterhorn? I fear this might be a common theme going forward.
  3. beat 84-0. I suppose not many people care about rugby league in Scotland?
  4. Since more or less everyone except ice hockey & tennis kicked the Russians out there's no way they will co-opearate on the Valieva case anymore. Plus figure skating just isn't all that important sport in the global terms.
  5. Was about to post it. That is quite a flop from Halep who ended her season after USO due to having a nosejob. Yeah, it's more sinister than that. It also explains why Mouratoglou suddenly started working with Holger Rune. Big story in WTA who doesn't need any more bad news but they got it anyway.
  6. Szczepan Kupczak had called it a career. He will focus on being the head coach of women's ski jumping team from now on. This leaves Polish NC with two active senior athletes at international level - Andrzej Szczechowicz and Pawel Szyndlar (who picked up some cheap points FIS points last March by attending Continetal Cup in Park City and Lake Placid where she finished dead last in all four starts ).
  7. Carolina Panthers traded RB Christian McCaffrey to San Francisco 49ers. Safe to say Panthers are in pole position for #1 draft pick now.
  8. That didn't take long. Liz Truss has resigned https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-63332037 You might wonder how many Tories will come forward to become PM when it's clear a new election should be the only solution? Labour can literally do nothing and still hope for a historic victory at this stage?
  9. At this rate UK could have a third PM this year
  10. Tamara Mesikova finished 2nd behind Nicole Konderla in the Polish summer national championships yesterday @hckošice
  11. Yeah, I also think she won't compete internationally after this one. Well, the Iranian society made their move in 1979 and they're still paying the bills for it.
  12. Sweden ditches "feminist foreign policy" https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63311743
  13. So, she's not gone missing after all?
  14. Obviously Kenya is no Russia so they won't be handed a national ban for political purpose. I assume Coe is fearing of being called a racist so expect more Kenyan dopers to emerge in the future.
  15. Anything anti-Chinese is more newsworthy in the Western media And yeah, mass shootings have become so common nobody cares about that unless the victim count is at least in double digits or there are children involved.
  16. Well, Chile won't have to travel far given they will play Poland on 16th November I suppose this fact isn't unrelated
  17. Buccaneers replacing Arians with a defensive HC was clearly a bad decision. They have some injuries but their offense is hard to watch most of the time. Yeah, I don't buy the 6-0 Eagles at all. They play with a lead too often which always helps the run-first offense.
  18. Title #8 of the season for Iga who beats Donna Vekic in the San Diego final
  19. New York Jets beat Green Bay Packers 27-10 at Lambeau. It seems like they are really turning a corner while Packers have finally run into a wall. HC Matt LaFleur will be under major heat this season. Baltimore Ravens blew another double-digit lead and lost to New York Giants who are also exceeding expectations this season so far.
  20. Another week, another Iga Świątek final - this time in San Diego. Due to rain the second SF will be finished today. Well, she won't play in Guadalajara next week though
  21. Nordic Combined itself has become kinda unpopular and it's reduced to a second-rate sport these days. However the American NC has totally regressed compared to the 90s and 00s. Is Steamboat Springs still operational? Geraghty-Moats would be better off trying in freestyle skiing. This is where USA finds it's winter sport niche in XXI century outside of alpine skiing.
  22. Good thing I'm not a Dodgers fan. Epic collapse from the bullpen in the 7th. And Josh Hader struck out the top of their line-up (Betts, T. Turner & Freeman) on just 10 pitches for the save The Astros must like this NLCS match-up
  23. Philadelphia Phillies is the first team to make the Championship Series as they beat the defending champions Atlanta Braves 3-1. Braves got some very poor pitching in first two games from Max Fried and Spencer Strider (so much for the moustache hype) and Charlie Morton allowed a 3-run HR to Brandon frickin' Marsh tonight to open the floodgates. San Diego Padres can also wrap the NLDS series over the favored Dodgers if they win at home later tonight (somehow I feel that won't happen).
  24. Andreja Slokar out for the season with a knee injury.
  25. Geraghty-Moats is trying in her third sport now? I wonder what will be the fourth? Bobsleigh?
