  16. and gotta tell you...I did it again! I won my Fantasy NHL League for the second time in a row it's been a difficult season, but thanks to a well balanced team on offense (mention of honor, "my" Kirill Kaprizov and the good oldies Evgeni "Gino" Malkin and Steve Stamkos) and defense (Quinn Hughes a star, Victor Hedman always a guarantee, Gia Forsling rock solid in the +/- stat) and, above all, thanks to Sergey Bobrovsky superstar, Vezina edition between the pipes, finally I took it home once again time to party, now!

This is one of those medals I really hope they get. McKay and Benfeito lost the bronze in 202(1) by half a point. They outscored the Mexicans on every dive except one (and outscored the silver medalist Americans 3/5 dives). That means if one judge would have scored them 0.5 higher on one dive they would have gotten a medal. It was kind of frustrating that they didn't get it in the end, so I really hope McKay and now Miller can pull through in Paris.

  31. Big chances, 2 world cups Baku, Germany plus EC. I think for ranling quota are favourites 1. Cze 2. UKR / 3. ITA 4. POL 5. UK. Europe should not be worry about AUS/PERU has one event more (EC). For me someone from this 4 should grab quota from EC. It's better to predict after Baku (begging of may).

  32. my take on what happened today as for Iran, only once in history we failed to qualify a full men's freestyle team and that was in 1996 only because our 48kg guy failed in the weight-in! (only one qualification tournament back then) but I'm afraid it will happen again, they are trying different wrestlers but we are just weak in lower weights. Mohammadnejad-Javan had a good draw today but he failed miserably. it's already decided who is going to Turkey but I'm not optimistic at all. we won two quotas today, Emami at 74 had a shaky start against the Korean but he was much much better in the afternoon and made up for that terrible start. but 97kg Azarpira was simply terrible. I don't know what's wrong with him, sometimes he wrestles like a future Olympic Champion but sometimes he is just bad. he won the quota but gave us a scare in both matches. after all I was expecting 2 and we got 2 but the performance was worrisome 57kg: Almaz-uulu survived two close matches against CHN and MGL to qualify. while he was lucky I think he was the better wrestler from the top half. I feel sorry for Aman, his offence is world class but his weak defense costs him sometimes like today. Abdullaev knew even 9-0 lead is not safe against Aman, so he never stopped attacking until he won 10-0. poor tactical match from Aman, I still think he will quaify next time but other wrestlers are figuring him out. he has to adjust 65kg: Akmataliev had two tough matches against MGL #2 (I still can't understand they they didn't register Tulga) and PRK. you never see North Korean wrestlers gassing but it happened today. in the other half the first round match was the real final, this new Japanese kid Kiyooka is a real deal. he beat Kudiev despite making lots of errors. with a little more of international experience I would consider him a gold medal favorite in Paris (or in next few years) 74kg: Emami and Abdurakhmanov were top 2 wrestlers in the draw and won the quotas. not much drama here 86kg: Hayato Ishiguro is a good wrestler himself but today was his lucky day. he was supposed to go through Deepak and Sharipov but then that happened to Deepak and Sharipov lost to the Korean and Ishiguro had to wrestle something like 1 minute to qualify Bahrain made a big big mistake letting Sharipov wrestle at the Asian Champs few days ago. he was very tired today and lost easily. the other SF finished 1-1 (passivity points only) and MGL won a lucky undeserving quota. the Chinese wrestler was a bit better but after all none of them deserved the quota but someone had to win. 97kg: Yergali was lucky to beat the Chinese wrestler. still I think he was the better wrestler but the top half was easier anyway. in bottom half I think Yoshida has a bright future. Azarpira somehow managed to beat him but that was an ugly win. the Mongolian was tough too. I won't be surprised if both of them qualify in Turkey. 125kg: Monkhtor beat the grandpa Deng by two passivity cautions. he controlled the center of the mat and Deng could's score on him. Deng beat him last year in Belgrade but he is aging. in other SF I was expecting a win for Sharpiov but same as his brother in 86kg he made a huge mistake (by participating at the Asian Champs) he was deadly tired already and the Giant Kazakh took his chance.

  36. The first session was a nightmare, we lost just one match but it could be easily 3. all 3 of them were just a shadow of themselves. obviously something went wrong in their preparations we knew we are weak at 57kg but that was wow. Mohammadnejad lost 14-3 to a guy from Mongolia! that was his golden chance and he threw it away, he won't see the national team forever or at least not anytime soon. Emami was shaky and gave up lots of points in scrumbles. still his opponent was old and finally gassed. but Azarpira almost lost to the Japanese-Iranian Yoshida. the final score 9-1 is completely misleading. Yoshida had the control for the entire match and Azarpira had to rely on his counter attacks. he was dead after 2-3 minutes and I don't know how he survived Yoshida. I'm not confident at all about the afternoon matches, but they have time to recover and think about what they did in the morning. here are the semifinals 57: vs / vs 65: vs / vs 74: vs / vs 86: vs / vs 97: vs / vs 125: vs / vs

  42. and now it's official! the IJF has officially registered Kim Polling's switch from to now she can represent with immediate effect Polling's words on the social media (in Italian...google might be helpful): "Ciao a tutti, mi chiamo Kim Polling e posso dirvi che da oggi posso rappresentare l’Italia.
