  3. They are obviously going to get an exception. The fact that Russia/Belarus were not allowed to participate will make it very easy to get one. "How could I get the requirements if my nation could not participate? I would have participated if my nation was allowed to do so." ITF barely enforces the requirements anyway.

  6. Maybe I am too naive at this point. But I think that me and also many other people hope and believe that one day, politics will stop having highly negative impact on the Olympic Games and it will start being the highly peaceful event as it used to be and as Baron Coubertin saw and created such amazing mottos. Olympic Spirit has been with me my entire life and looking at these political nonsenses makes me feel sad. I don't envy those people who pursue their life dream and goals and these things stop them and often they can't do anything about it.

  7. You are reading this too literally. In the case of Russia and Belarus, the sport federation is effectively the NOC now and decides who to nominate (which will be the highest ranked athletes/individual who qualified the quota). I understand you really don't want them to compete, but if you think a rule in the qualification document is going to prevent them from competing then you are greatly mistaken. The best way for Russia to not compete is if the government decides not to go (Belarus will compete unless Russia forces them to boycott).

  10. I agree, they will likely get an exception as there was no opportunity for them to play, and the ITF is very lenient. I mean Wozniacki has played for her country once since 2011 and still got to play Rio and I'm sure they would've let her play Tokyo if she didn't retire before. I am more interested to see what happens with the Grand Slam/legacy wildcard spots. I'm sure it won't matter for Venus Williams as she won't be in the top 4 Americans. Andreescu can use a protected ranking to get automatic entry to the Olympics. And I don't think Muguruza will be back before then (if ever). That leaves us with Wozniacki, Kerber, Halep, Osaka, and Raducanu. I don't think I'm missing anyone else? There are only two spots. Time is running out for these girls to get in directly, so in the end 3 of them could miss out...

  13. Hi all. Finished work on my spreadsheets (for now). There are 2 separate ones for now, but they're linked to each other. One goes day by day, the other is sport by sport.. Paris 2024 competition schedule by Day Paris 2024 competition schedule by Sport I'll update these as more of the schedule gets filled out, like matchups in team sports and breakdown of individual events in sports like swimming (I have the track events in athletics broken down by time. If anyone has additional information to add or new schedules get released, I'll add them here. Don't know how much I'll keep up during the games as the team sports reach the elimination rounds, but anyone who wants to help is more than welcome! And if anyone has any suggestions on how to make improvements here, I'm open to opinions. Thanks!

  14. Having a look through the schedule here is some of the big days for Team Ireland Included a few outside chances here that probably unlikely to medal but not without some realistic chance. On the otherhand I have not included outside chances that may yet come to fruition, for example boxing could have more chances when the team is finalised, men's road race cycling and other outside chances in equestrian (individual jumping). Overall it looks most likely we will win our first medal on Day 4 or 5 and then with a lot of chances coming on the middle weekend. Our first gold could possibly be on Day 7 in the men's lightweight double sculls. 28. Wait I think Kerber and Osaka have protected rankings in the 30s/40s, so like Andreescu, they'll also be in. So it's Wozniacki, Halep, and Raducanu for the two wildcards. Wozniacki is up to 129 in the live rankings now so if she can make the top 60/70 or so by the end of May, which is looking likely even though she's horrible on clay, then Halep just has to be top 400 to make it to Paris? Can someone confirm?

  30. Hello, thanks for the heads up. Yeah, the news has been pretty clear. I have texted to Dominika Hronová, she says she knows about and the federation does, too. That's why also it was important to grab the 3rd place in that tournament. Despite it was just a "walkover" as her opponent did not show up. But as she also mentioned its not up to her but up to the Federation and Czech NOC. Now, let's wait for their acts, but I guess they will come up with this sooner or later......

  31. There are some countries that are more difficult to sort out: · & have similar level athletes in both men's event, can go either way. · & similar level athletes in both women's event, can go either way. (C. Taipei already qualified in men's) · & have similar level athletes in both 100 meterss, can go either way · has the similar level athletes in women's 100 and men's marathon, can go either (or even both) ways · & have similar level athletes in all events, can go any way. · & I have no idea, they have no athletes in either gender or event with results uop to two years. Also is already qualified in men's event and there's no women in either event in World Athletics. In past years, Timor Leste and Djibouti tend to compete with distance runners. · & probably wont need an invitation because they would probably qualify in both genders. The same way that this five wont need an invitation, there would probably be new countries that would need one. But that is way more time consuming to try to predict. Maybe another day.

  32. I was bored so I'm making a simulation list of where the potential invitational quotas. I'm counting the NOCs that receibed a invitation to the Tokio games, I tried to left outr NOC's I think wont need them. If a NOC in that list has already qualified in one gender I put the invitation in the other one. In Paris only 100 meters and marathon quotas are up to invitation, + 3 athletes in 800 per gender. So, as of now, this is how I think the potential distribution could go: Men's 100 - & . This next countries dont have any athletes in WA's recent results so I'm copyng what the got in Tokio 2020: & Men's Marathon - & Women's 100 - & . This next countries dont have any athletes in WA's recent results so I'm copyng what the got in Tokio 2020: Women's Marathon - & I don't know how the three 800 quotas would be decided, is to open to foretell, but according to the world ranking, right now the three best at the men's are Saint Vincent, Guyana and Andorra; and in the woman's it would be: Sri Lanka, Uruguay and Iceland.

  34. that was expected actually. Rafalovich has a good rank mostly because of his old results, their 80kg guys (both Jaysunov and Salaev) had more success recently, Jaysunov was only few seconds away from qualifying through the Grand Slam. beside that 80kg will be much easier for then to earn the quota.

  39. I’ll update this in parts, I can’t be bothered to do it all right now. When it’s fully finished I’ll quote myself so all of you can see (and share your opinions) Archery (2) - We’ve already secured a men’s quota. We should secure a women’s quota through the Pan Am Qualifier. Artistic Swimming (8) - Already qualified a full team. Athletics (43) - Additional 27 athletes through the OQS and Road To Paris Ranking. Full Breakdown: Men’s 100m- Andre DeGrasse, Brendon Rodney, Jerome Blake (+1) Men’s 200m- Andre DeGrasse, Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney Men’s 400m- Christopher Morales-Williams Men’s 800m- Marco Arop Men’s 1500m- Charles Philibert-Thiboutot, Kieran Lumb (+1) Men’s 5000m- Benjamin Flanagan, Mo Ahmed Men’s 10000m- Mo Ahmed Men’s 3000m Steeplechase- Jean-Simon Desgagnes (+1) Men’s Marathon- Cameron Levins, Rory Linkletter Men’s 20km Race Walk- Evan Dunfee Men’s 4x100m Relay- Andre DeGrasse, Brendon Rodney, Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Malachi Murray (+1) Men’s Decathlon- Damian Warner, Pierce LePage Men’s Hammer Throw- Ethan Kazberg, Adam Keenan, Rowan Hamilton (+2) Women’s 100m- Khamica Bingham (+1) Women’s 200m- Jacqueline Madogo (+1) Women’s 400m- Madeline Price, Grace Konrad, Kyra Constantine (+3) Women’s 800m- Jazz Shukla (+1) Women’s 1500m- Gabriela De Bues Stafford, Lucia Stafford (+2) Women’s 5000m- Julie An Staeli, Brianna Scott (+2) Women’s 100m Hurdles- Mariam Abdul-Rashid, Michelle Harrison (+2) Women’s 400m Hurdles- Brooke Overholt, Savannah Sutherland, Sage Watson (+3) Women’s 3000m Steeplechase- Celi McCabe, Regan Yee, Grace Fetherstonhaugh (+3) Women’s 4x400m Relay- Zoe Sherar, Aiyana Stiverne, Savannah Sutherland, Sage Watson, Kyra Constantine, Grace Konrad (+2) Women’s Pole Vault- Alysha Newman, Anicka Newell (+1) Women’s Marathon- Malindi Elmore Women’s Hammer Throw- Camryn Rogers, Jillian Weir (+1) Women’s Shot Put- Sarah Mitton I left a bunch of names off. No Brandon McBride, Justyn Knight, Ben Priesner, Django Lovett, Natasha Wodak among others. Breaking (1) - Philip Kim has already qualified. Tiffany Leung has a decent chance through the OQS (I think?) but I don’t see her qualifying and frankly I couldn’t care. Badminton (4) - Athletes in men’s singles, women’s singles, and men’s doubles. United States takes the continental quotas in women’s doubles and mixed doubles unfortunately. Boxing (3-5) - Tammara Thibeault and Wyatt Sanford have already qualified. Watched Alexis Barriere for the first time this week, and damn he’s good. Such a shame that he missed out on qualifying today on a split decision. I have him qualifying at the World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, along with either Charlie Cavanaugh (if she gets the nod over Kali) or Scarlett Delgado. Basketball (28) - Women’s 3x3 team should join our men’s and women’s teams in Paris. But then again, I said the same thing about Erin Brooks in surfing, so… Canoe Slalom (2-3) - United States and Brazil have qualified in both women’s C1/K1, so we should secure quotas at the Pan American Qualifier. Maybe we can qualify in either men’s C1/K1 as well. Canoe Sprint (18) - Additional boats in men’s K2-500m, men’s C1-1000m, men’s C2-500m, and women’s K2-500m, but really it depends on the squad that we send to the Pan American Qualifier. Cycling (13-21) - One each in men’s and women’s mountain biking, and women’s BMX racing. Men’s and women’s sprint teams in track cycling, and maybe our women’s and men’s team pursuit? Equestrian (9) - Full team already qualified. Diving (5) - Was expecting more quotas, but our top women in 3m completely flopped at Worlds both this and last year (except in synchro at Fukuoka). I was also hoping for Kate Miller to grab a quota in women’s 10m but not as disappointing. Fencing (10-12) - We’ve already qualified in men’s team sabre, and men’s and women’s team foil. With only one sabre WC still to go, Pamela Brind’Amour is in a great position to qualify herself individually, she’s 15 points clear of the next highest eligible Pan American athlete (the rest are all Americans, who have already qualified a team) and for a WC there’s only 32 points available. In men’s and women’s epee, while our athletes will probably be the favourites heading into the Pan American Qualifier, it’s very tight between a couple of countries, I could see it going either way. Edit 2: March 18 Football (18) - Women’s team has already qualified. Golf (4) - Two men and two women. Leaning towards Corey Conners and Nick Taylor for the men. For the women, it’s probably going to be Maude Aimee Leblanc and Brooke Henderson. Gymnastics (11) - Men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics teams have already qualified. We’ve also secured a quota in women’s trampoline. I don’t see us securing a men’s trampoline quota by looking at the Olympic Ranking unfortunately. Judo (5-6) - Quotas in men’s -73kg, men’s -81kg, men’s -100kg, women’s -57kg, and women’s -63kg for sure. Maybe one of men’s -90kg/men’s -66kg/women’s -52kg. Rowing (24) - We’ve already qualified in women’s eight and women’s lightweight double sculls. I have us qualifying women’s quadruple sculls and men’s eight boats at the Final Regatta. Rugby Sevens (12) - Already qualified a women’s team, and there’s pretty much no chance for the men. Sailing (7) - Men’s ICLA7 through the last chance regatta (I’m not feeling very optimistic however) in addition to our already secured quotas in women’s kite, women’s ICLA6, women’s 49er FX, and men’s 49er. Skateboarding (4) - Ryan Decenzo, Cordano Russell, and Matt Berger (before I was thinking Micky Papa) in men’s street, and Fay Ebert in women’s park. Sport Climbing (0-1) - Maybe one of Sean McColl/Alannah Yip? Surfing (1) - Was expecting three surfers (adding Erin Brooks and Cody Young), instead we only qualify one. Disaster. Table Tennis (4) - Men’s Team has already qualified. We should secure a women’s quota through the Pan American Qualifier. Taekwondo (1) - Taekwondo Canada made some stupid choices on athlete selection for the Pan American Qualifier, so looks like Skylar Park in women’s -57kg will be our only representative. Triathlon (4) - Two men’s quotas and two women’s quotas, therefore qualifying us for the mixed team relay. Tennis (6) - Felix Auger-Aliassime (men’s singles), Leylah Fernandez (women’s singles), and Gaby Dabrowski (women’s doubles) through the Olympic Ranking. PR for Milos Raonic, Denis Shapovalov, and Bianca Andresscu. Volleyball (16) - We’ve already qualified a men’s volleyball team and Melissa Humana Parades/Brandie Wilkerson in women’s beach volleyball. A second women’s beach (either Pavan/McBain or Bansley/Bukovec) volleyball pairing should join them through NORCECA. I don’t have much optimism for either Schachter/Dearing or our women’s volleyball team. Weightlifting (1-2) - Quota in women’s 59kg, and possibly men’s 89kg. Wrestling (7) - Additional quotas in women’s 68kg and women’s 53kg. We’ve already secured quotas in women’s 57kg, women’s 62kg, women’s 76kg, men’s 86kg freestyle, and men’s 125kg freestyle. Waterpolo (12) - Women’s team has already qualified.

  40. THE LOGO The Radio is symbol of TAISC 2024 This year marks the centenary of the beginning of radio broadcasts in Italy (October 6th, 1924) In Italy, which on a technological level was the homeland of radio, use of radio transmissions was permitted only for military purposes, and a 1910 law prohibited its use by civilians. Only in 1924, a late compared to the rest of the world, began the commercial broadcasts. For the logo the radio chosen is Radio Cubo ts522, this model is designed in 1962 by architects Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper and marketed since 1964 by Brionvega, an Italian company (active from 1945 to 1994) specialized in the consumer electronics sectors. Examples of this radio are permanently exhibited at the MOMA in New York and at the modern art museums of La Jolla, Osaka and Sao Paulo. Key dates of italian radio history In August 1924 the Italian Radio Union (URI) was born, it held the government concession to broadcast and there was only one radio station. January 1928 - URI becomes EIAR (Italian Auditing Body). Italian radio becomes a means of mass communication December 13th, 1931 the first radio commentary of the football match was broadcast (Italy vs Hungary) After the end of the war in 1944, Rai (Radio Audizioni Italiane) was born and the radio entered the homes of the majority of Italians. In 1950 the reform of the radio system established the creation of three networks In 1951 the first edition of the Sanremo Festival was broadcast live In 1976 did the RAI monopoly lapse thanks to a ruling by the Constitutional Court and the broadcasters already active in Italy (around 400), so-called "pirate radio" will then become "free radio" In the 1980s, private national radio stations began to emerge, many of which are still active today Italian committee: Henry_Leon @Pablita @Gianlu33 @SteveParker Big thanks at @vinipereira the author of the logo Eugenio Finardi - La Radio (1976-written by: Lucio Fabbri, Eugenio Finardi)

Update. I just saw a Sailing Canada article on the matter, the Lewin-Lafrance sisters have been nominated to represent Canada at the Olympics! “In the event that only one team places in the top 8 at the 2023 Olympic Class World Championships and no other team places within 10 overall finish positions from the team that finished in the top 8, they will automatically be nominated to the Olympic Team.” “Due to an injury which prevented one of the Canadian teams to compete at last year’s edition of the World Championships in this class, the rule was changed to this year’s edition”
