  1. Sorry to harp on it, but seriously. Before tournament: Just beat ARG and NDL, it'll be hard to do but if you do that you're good. If you take Poland to 5 sets you're basically in! OMG! Now: What the actual fuck? It's like finishing in the top-2 of the first 5 apparatus of the all round in gymnastics and then setting the 6th on fire, pissing on the camera and slapping the mothers of all the judges. Not taking away anything from Belgium, you were awesome! But, I'd say you expected more of a fight, too.

  2. I'm definitely not an avid gymnastics follower, but at least at Olympics and world championships I've been watching it for quite a few years now. Today I came to the realization that the low bar in the uneven bars is not standing straight, but at an outwards angle Well damn.

  3. Italy and Cuba are currently tied in wins, points and set ratio. If Italy beats Brazil, Cuba can grab the quota if they beat Iran with a better score (eg. ITA wins 3-1, CUB needs to win 3-0). If they win by the same score, Italy will probably qualify because their points ratio is much better. If Brazil wins none of the above matters and Brazil qualifies.

  4. I didn't follow these qualifications that much mostly because I was too busy with the Asian Games but also because I gave up on this time few months ago. it's a pity we missed the Olympics but when you do a dumb mistake you have to pay the price. I think after the Olympic season (2021 year) 3 teams made a horrible mistake by appointing the very wrong coach. Iran, Canada and Slovenia. the other 2 realized it almost quickly and fixed it. Slovenia is safely qualified and Canada was/is about to qualify. but our federation insisted of supporting this dumb idiot ... (whatever bad word you want) guy who had a scorched-earth policy and just left nothing behind. it took 10-20 years for Iran to develop a team worthy of top-10 in the world but it took 2 years for this guy to destroy that completely. Iran is a 4th tier team in the world at the moment. just because he had some random good results in 2022 VNL (mostly because our reserve opposite all of a sudden played out of this world for few games) they decided to keep him (as a sign of supporting local coaches) hoping for another miracle like those few games which never happened. they had to fire him after losing 10 out of 12 matches in 2023 VNL but they gave him another chance, again they had to fire him after struggling China B and losing 3-0 to Japan in a one-sided final at home during the Asian Champs, yet they didn't. now he is gone after his team being manhandled by likes of Ukraine and Czech rep ! one thing is for sure we will never have an Iranian coach, at least not anytime soon. and new coach has to start from zero. PS: based on some interviews I believe our volleyball federation didn't understand the qualification rules correctly. they thought if Japan qualifies directly, Iran can grab the Asia quota no matter how many matches we lose.

the most important use of doping is done in training, to sustain bigger workloads and speed up recovery and the new genetic doping is used way before you enter in competition to literally build more muscles and strenghten all of your body, improve the endurance and all the physical skills you need to succeed the only chance to catch the big cheaters is in the socalled "out of competition" tests, a long time far away from the targeted events (and that's why the whereabouts issue is a big one and 3 missed tests are compared to a positive one) those who are caught in competition, it only happens because something went wrong in calculating the time needed by the human body to eliminate all the signs of the doping usage nobody at this level is so stupid to come to a competition completly filled with illegal substances that's why all the athletes who have not been tested for a long period often comeback stronger than ever, that's why and shouldn't be allowed to get back to the international sports scene until they have passed a very long period in which they are tested regularly for any kind of doping products, otherwise it would be extremely unfair to all the remaining participants

Last 2 Gold medals we won were both farcical. Cricket should have reserve days and in Kabbadi, referees should be more authoritative. I don't believe that they should not change decision based on discussion. What should have happened is: The main officials should have pulled the two coaches aside and have discussion with them asking each to give their interpretation of the rule, consulted the official rulebook and made the decision and stuck to it. If either team was adamant on not accepting the ruling, they should have declared the other team winner by forfeit. Since India is the bigger force in Kabbadi, was the team that protested initially and the final decision was in our favour, we do come out as the culprit. And I am sad that we couldn't complete our redemption by defeating Iran fair and square in the final.

  22. It was decided earlier that in case of wash out match given to the team that's higher in world rankings. Horrible rule I say. Usually they keep reserve days for knockout matches and in group stages points shared since its final both teams should have got shared gold

  23. Ceccon! I always said that he should swim regularly the 200m back, where basically he could easily win tons of world and olympic medals 2nd time he swims the distance, 3 secs improvment on his PB, last 50m in 28.50 (which means he could push for way faster splits in the first 150m and cut seconds off this clocking)

and after more than an hour India finally got what what a disgrace, and that's what the English commentator said. when you invent a sport you want to develop , 1 gold medal more or less shouldn't matter much for you. and what a shame Iran continued the match, they had to leave the court

  32. Honestly wish they would have just lost to ARG or NDL and got it over with then. This was the most pathetic showing of a Canadian team in any sport in a long time. That sounds harsh, but seriously. Lose, that's fine. Lose 3-2, that totally fine. Lose 3-1 but put up a fight, that's fine. Sets 1 and 4 were embarrassing. Set 3 was terrible most of the time besides a nice run, then they gave it away. Whatever, it's not like they were going to medal in Paris. I just enjoy volleyball and would have liked to see them there, but obviously they don't deserve it. I just wanted a tight game this Friday night, been looking forward to it. Oh well.

  35. That’s correct. Neither Argentina nor Belgium would be able to catch up on points in their remaining games. If Belgium loses against Canada in 3/4, the maximum amount of points Belgium could gain is 3 (currently at 11 points), which would put them at 14 points. If Argentina win their remaining matches in 3/4, they would gain 6 points (currently at 8 points), which would also put them at 14 points. If Canada wins against Belgium in 3/4, that would put them at 15 points. A win, or loss against Mexico wouldn’t matter.

  38. Nemour performed the 6.7 D routine instead of the 6.9 D, so she played it "safe" here. If she had gone all the way, she would have earned gold. Still, a phenomenal result and the first-ever medal for an African nation at the senior World Championships (an Egyptian gymnast got a medal this year at Junior Worlds). Okay, I have to admire the consistency of Liu, Petrounias and You on rings, but I'm bummed for the other gymnasts. Davtyan has been chasing this medal for more than a decade now... He always comes so, so close! On pommels, it was a nice result despite a weak final. Excellent performance from the Irish gentleman and the silver-medalist from the USA, but everybody else kind of disappointed me. Still, another impressive medal for Jordan. Who would have thought? Two in a row! Floor was exciting, but I'm worried about Yulo. He deserves an Olympic medal, still his performances have not been all that great. I'm super happy with a medal for Karimi, though. He's one of my favorite gymnasts! And I don't even have to mention how excited I am to see Rebeca Andrade becoming the world champion once again! Also, I'm super happy for Yeo. She also deserved this medal so much. Biles took a risk and it did not pay off, but she is the greatest of all time and nobody will take this away from her.

  39. not legally for the European viewers (except for GBR and IRL), the official provider is Yupp TV, which charges 25€ for the special pack covering the whole World Cup speaking of not so legal options, if you have a Firestick (or an Android TV), I can tell you that you can download (not from the official store) an app called Sportsfire, where you have all the channels you need for a full world of sports coverage (all the US and Canadian sports network, all Sky Sports from ITA to GER, UK and NZL , the Indian Star Sports, South African Supersports and many more) p.s. to be used absolutely under vpn coverage (and you also need some powerful broadband connection, because with vpn all these channels have some buffering issues with a weak wifi connection)
