  3. Right, the team events severely limit participation in Fencing. If the FIE/IOC wanted to increase participation, they’d have to reform how quotas are distributed for teams events, or drop the team events all together.
    2 points
  4. But 24 of those quotas are reserved for the team athletes. If you are not a great power and don't have a competitive team, you only have 2 quotas by ranking (in Europe) and another one by the Qualification Tournament. For a small country in fencing like us is extremely hard to get a single quota.

  5. I don't think that it would be good idea. But as I said it many times before, I HATE IOC of that because they have adding multiple events, new sports and so on, but number of athletes remain unchanged or even is lowered in few sports, just like now in wrestling where two places per continental quota and in world qualifier is laughable and no B standards in athletics.... If they are adding new events, also number of athletes should raised respectvily to number of events.

  6. Siess without quota, dissapointed after good performance in Doha Grand Prix. There should be available at least two quotas per continent, not just one, its not fair at all...

Ah yes, the poor Buffalo Bills who impressively made it to four consecutive Super Bowls but also somehow managed to lose all fours. Quite sadly for the Bills fans. Their team seems to look much better now and they can hope for maybe a Super Bowl in the near future. A is my answer.

  12. Extraliga, Finals, Game #4 A lone goal by Matej Stransky about 9 mins into the OT decided the 4th episode of the Czech Final Series... Once again, actually, more than ever, it was a close, tactical battle, but to be honest, also a rather boring match, where really few exciting plays happened... Now HC Oceláři Třinec are leading the series 3-1 and next Monday they have the chance to close things down in a home clash... Game #4 in fact is scheduled for next Monday, April 26th, at 5 p.m. local time (CET) in Třinec... 20. I honestly believe that with this idiotic quota reduction it´s time for team competitions to abandon the program. When you actually see that between 5-8 fencers in each weapon and gender will only be in Tokyo because they´re needed to fill a quota for a team (the one's with continental / host places in particular), and some very competent individuals being left out because of that ridiculous 8 team "competition", then you should left space for more countries to send their best, respecting the 3 per country for those powerhouses that can actually qualify them.

  21. Because mixed weapon team events are a joke, and it’s literally impossible to do a mixed gender fencing event in a way that is fair (same problem the mixed judo team event is running into).

  25. That's amazing, thanks for all the work everyone! Already having fun just scrolling through the schedule and the Games haven't even started. I don't mean to nitpick, but if you're ever doing some corrections: I found a 'men's 500m freestyle' swimming on sat 31st july. I assume that's supposed to be 50m.

  26. What I would prefer is to have separate qualification for the individual and team events, meaning that no one would qualify for the individual event just because they are a member of a qualified team. But that would never happen as it would potentially raise the number of athlete quotas. Or maybe give only two quotas for the nations that qualified for the team event, and then give them the opportunity to win a 3rd individual quota.

  29. Here: https://www.agu-gymnastics.com/. Click on "copy of AGU calendar 2021-2024". The document was uploaded on April 19th, so it's the most recent information we have. Now, it's important to note that there is an active link on the website stating that the Asian Championships will take place on May 29th in a different city in China, but I believe it's just a leftover link they forgot to delete. Anyway, conflicting information on their own website... Expected, given the federation is a mess, but still frustrating.

  30. Any unused quota places obtained at the World Teams/Singles Qualification Tournaments will be reallocated to the next best-placed eligible team / athlete of the same gender, not yet qualified, from the respective World Team/Singles Qualification Tournament. Looks it will be France, but not official yet

  31. What said above by Wumo, but consider that Pustilnik never made the top 8 in the qualifying period so it could end like in 2016 (Hatuel won but Israel NOC refused the quota).

  32. sure It wasn't supposed to be the last event for Asia, Pan-Am and Europe. but they postponed for 2-3 months and imagine if it gets cancelled which is very possible these days. it will be "funny" Colombia itself is facing a complete ban from the Olympics, if they receive that ban (they hope they can postpone it to a date after the Olympics) there is no point to host a qualification event.

  34. Tomorrow, both Freilich in men's epee and Pustilnik in women's foil have good/decent chances to take a spot. Freilich is the second highest-placed fencer according to the ranking in his weapon and Pustilnik is the top seed in her weapon. Biggest chance is probably Pustilnik.
