  6. As things stand, I think there are 26 individual athletes we can confidently say are going to be in the women's 10m platform events in Paris - this is likely to be an event where it is pretty safe to assume that the synchro athletes will also be selected for the individual event where they have qualified.

  15. It's really nice to see men's artistic swimming developing well. It's a beautiful sport, and in my opinion the combination of the better judging system that was recently implemented and the development of men's artistic swimming ensure the sport will stay in the Olympics for a long time.

  16. Diving is arguably one of the best examples of how to "waste" Olympic quotas, along with creating a unclear qualification system. It's wild to me that divers qualified in synchro don't have the automatic right to enter individual events. Plus, it wouldn't be the end of the world if nations could qualify composite teams for synchro. Swimming isn't much better, but at least they made a sensible decision to allow additional entires into the open water events.

  25. I still find a bit off that IOC is pushing THAT hard against building a new sliding venue. Because if we don't build any new venue for the Olympics, then nobody is ever going to build any new venue for the sport. Period. And without new venues, the same set of countries is going to win olympic medals for ever and ever (and one in particular who happens to have 3 times more venues than anybody else). I understand Agenda 2020, the general economical/political context around the olympic games and that you can't ask for the same degree of universality of summer olympic sports. But still, if you basically give up on you only chance to grow the sport by building new venues in new countries, what's the point of the sliding events at the olympics ?

  26. Jack Laugher with a 0 in round 4. Thankfully Ross Haslam looks like he has done enough to get through to the semi-final and a likely Olympic quota.

  27. It's fine, just cut money on safety stuff and it'll be done in time Still sad for the Italian athletes though. They could easily have had several years of extra training, which would have resulted in men's skeleton, women's skeleton, two-man and four-man bobs and basically all luge disciplines having very significant medal chances and even gold medal chances, but now....it's basically as much their home track as it is Ferlazzo's or Rocha's home track. Two years and it has to be done, up and running and having held test competitions.

  28. 20-5 win for Canada over Great Britain to improve to 2-0 in women’s waterpolo pool play! Big game coming up against Italy, a win would advance them directly through to the quarterfinals where they would most likely play Greece. A loss, and a likely visit with New Zealand in the playoffs, followed by a likely visit with Spain in the quarterfinals. So not a path we’d want to take.

  47. well our coach is really dumb his subs are always the same (no matter what's the score and who is the opponent) he used different squads in previous matches only because he was forced to do so (because of injuries and suspensions) I believe Azmoun is not fit for 90 minutes (or even worse, 120 minutes) but still it's hard to ignore his good record with the NT, it's a hard decision to bench him in important matches but still he is not effective as the only striker. I would start with a big and tall striker to tire the Japanese defense. but to answer your question with Taremi I think he would start with the same squad (only changing the CB who was suspended today) but now without Taremi ... I think our only option is to park the bus waiting for penalties or another blunder from Japanese GK. our team is too old, having only 2 days rest will favor Japan too. I really don't give too much chance to Iran. but this is football, everything is possible
