Always sad when years of injuries force athletes to retire, but still it was a nice goodbye to Thomas Dressen at the finish area4 points
-
Well, even under the shadow of sadness and disappointing nightmare, it must be said that the atmosphere in Jasná is still amazing, and this country despite all the problems it have and despite being run by terrible, terrible... but really terrible politicians deserve to host sport events more regularly than each 3-4 years Imagine all this people now have to watch and cheer the rest of the race despite broken hearts. Thumbs up !4 points

Ledecka winning to the surprise of no one. Too bad Hoffmeister made a mistake in the final as everyone wanted to see a full showdown between the two.3 points

Nice to see Ester Ledecka honoring Bulgaria with her rare return to snowboard these days. Rado Yankov with a 4th place in the Q will give him a nice position to attack a podium.3 points

Yesterday it rained all day on the already strongly watered track day before. and then last night was extremely cold here around -20, it was still terribly freezing in the morning. So the first skiers went on an literally absolute ice, Even the forerunners were crashing like potatoes, Nicole Hosp working for ORF crashed as well which resulted the start being postponed 10 minutes, also Adam Žampa is in hospital (was the forerunner as well and crashed as well...just being confirmed by his brother)... ..Brignone with Bib 1 DNF after like 4 gates, Lara Gut was skiing with bib 3 extremely slowly and carefully, Petra with BIB 4 crashed after 9 gates (sadly her skis did not come off and the next crash to the barriers was the tragic problem ), Grenier with bib 5 was quite unsure during her race and Bassino with Bib 6 was literally braking the whole piste and ended 8 seconds back... the latter bibs had the track a bit better with some snow covering the ice later3 points

Top seeded Renata Jamrichova begins her junior tournament this morning. Just so @hckošicedoesn't think it's all over just yet 14 year old Ksenia Efremova (representing France these days) beat #5 seed Tereza Valentova in the first round. If you think Andreeva, Korneeva or the Fruhvirtovas will enjoy some teenage hype then you have to make room for Efremova before too long as well.3 points -

Watching the ski jumping now, but really, there was that one guy somewhere at the IOC/LOCOG decision table who went "Hey guys, let's broadcast the ski jumping, but let's see how that works with just no graphics at all. No, I don't mean we skip the fancy things, we just don't use graphics...at all." Sigh. Edit: watched the first 10 jumpers or so, no graphics whatsoever, got angry and posted this. Continued watching and after the very first next jumper...graphics appeared2 points

Gold and silver for Hannah Schmidt and Marielle Thompson at the Nakiska WC Edit: And another gold for Reece Howden! After the first few heats with Canadians medal contenders dropping out like flies (might be over exaggerating), thought it was going to be “one of those days” but I guess I was proven wrong.2 points

Svitolina's path is cleaning up very nicely. I don't trust Zheng to make the final at all. But would be amazing story though. If Sabalenka survives Anisimova, she mustn't let this title slip into anyone's hands.2 points -

Greece Men: Arkadios Aspougalis, Stergios Bilas, Apostolos Christou, Konstantinos Englezakis, Kristian Gkolomeev, Evangelos Makrygiannis, Dimitrios Markos, Apostolos Papastamos, Apostolos Siskos, Konstantinos Stamou, Andreas Vazaios Women: Anastasia Boutou, Georgia Damasioti, Theodora Drakou, Maria Drasidou, Zacharoula Kalogeri, Eleni Kontogeorgou, Anna Ntountounaki, Artemis Vasilaki, Maria Zafeiratou I am not 100% sure but I think this is the largest team we've ever sent to the World Championships. Definitely by far the largest in the last decade at least. Pleasant surprise that we will have a women's 4x200 freestyle relay team, with Boutou, Kalogeri, Vasilaki, and Zafeiratou. For all four girls, that is the only event they are competing in. They are all 2006 or 2007 born except Kalogeri. I'm sure they won't do much, but a national record is likely. They will have a great future I think!2 points
