  2. You may not know this, but here's an interesting story about Tijana Boskovic. She was born in Bosnia (Republica Srpska) and when she was junior Turkish federations and one club wanted to see her and her family in Turkey. They offered them citizenship and great conditions ( it was a huge sum of money), BUT her father who is Serb rejected that.

  3. that China's TO in last 5 seconds against Poland. that's when everything started to happen in favor of Iran. our chance was close to zero before that game. sorry for Tunisia. they wasted their chance against Puerto Rico and that actually helped us. Nigeria wouldn't beat China if they had no reason for that.

  6. Just saying... Cuba won the NORCECA men's championship. They defeated the A team of Canada and the B team of USA. They even had visa problems to enter Canada and because of that they only played with 9 players! Roberlandy Simón returned to the team for this competition. Hopefully we will see a few more returns soon. Really promising in perspective for the olympic qualifier.

  13. well I don't consider them "victim" I think this format is designed to help China. everything was in their favor. they just didn't use it and gifted it to Iran. it's kind of funny we qualified to the Olympics only by beating Philippines and Angola ! btw you guys probably can't imagine how huge is basketball in China (they won several medals in other sports but basketball is something different for them) before 2004 it was always very easy for them to qualify. but after losing the Asian Champs final in 2009 (and after Yao's retirement) they found out they don't dominate the Asian basketball anymore. since then they always hosted the Olympics qualifiers . 2012, 2016 and 2020. they did everything in their power (and i mean everything) to qualify in men's basketball. I have absolutely nothing against the Chinese sport in general but I'm glad their men's basketball failed to qualify and not only because it's Iran in their place, I would say the same if it was any other Asian team.

  21. Well, China will probably end up being the biggest victim of this nonsense qualification system. I'm happy that this nonsense backfired on FIBA. Edit: to clarify, I am not happy that China got robbed because I have anything against the Chinese team. I am happy China got robbed because this is clearly a worst case scenario for FIBA, and they deserve it after designing such a stupid and unfair qualification system.

  41. CZECH REPUBLIC Archery: Currently there is nobody capable to qualify to Tokyo. Artistic Swimming: Czech Women's Team Czech synchronized swimming has been forming a young talented team which might succeed to qualify for Tokyo 2020. The first chance is that they finish 1st - 7th place at the World Aquatics championship 2019 in South Korea. If so, they will qualify team and automatically also a duet. The second chance would be at the 2020 Final Olympic qualifying tournament, where will be given other 3 spots for teams. Czech Women's Duet If Czech women's qualifies, automatically is qualified also duet. If not, there are other ways how to qualify a duet. First, Czech duet would have to place at the first position of non-qualified countries at the 2019 European champions Cup. Last chance would be at the final Olympic qualifying tournament, where will compete countries which will have not qualified any swimmers. There will be selected other 7 duets to compete at the Olympics. At the European baseball championships 2019 they have to place from 1st to 5th place to earn the spot in Europe/Africa qualifying event, which will be held in February 2020. At this event will be 6 teams and only 1 will make it to Olympics. Three of the teams will come from runners-up in the qualifying events above (second place in Africa/Europe, second and third places in Americas). Two more spots in this event will be granted to the best two finishers in the 2019 Asian Baseball Championship that have not already qualified for the Olympics. The winner of the 2019 Oceania qualifying event will also earn a spot in this tournament. From this final qualifying tournament, only one team will make it to Olympics. Basketball: Czech Men's Basketball Team How to qualify: Czech team qualified after long 37 years to World Championships, which will be in 2019 in China. They can directly qualify to Olympics from there. No matter what place they will rank, they have to be at most second best European team. This will give them certainty to participate Tokyo 2020. If they will not succeed, there will be four tournaments of Olympic qualification to Tokyo 2020. Each tournament will participate 6 teams and only winner can make it to Olympics. 46. If they only had the best 12 at the Olympics there wouldn't be any Asian or African teams . Still I don't have much sympathy for European and Americas teams who don't qualify . They aren't in the top 3 from their continent at the qualifying tournament ( the World Cup ) so they can't complain too much about lost medal opportunities Still the Olympics are meant to be global .at least in participation I have a real problem with the Winter Olympics claiming to be some sort of global event where many events really are only seriously undertaken in a few European countries ( And furthermore if they weren't an Olympic event wouldn't even exist outside even fewer countries eg luge ) No country south of the Tropic of Cancer - ie most of the world's people - ever features
