  3. I was doing some calculating a few months back and it became obvious the men's double badminton pair never really had a shot at qualifying even though they were showing in a qualifying spot. The reason being that many pairs from other nations had not yet competed in enough events to gather points and it was clear that over the course of the next few months they would move clearly ahead. I am a bit worried too about our rowing and boxing teams, neither seem to be hitting the Olympic year in ideal form. For rowing, I am sure just like last year they will improve greatly in the coming months, but I was secretly hoping we could see some major breakthroughs and push for another gold from another crew outside of the lightweight men's double. It can all still come together of course, I think as fans we are just looking for those signs that this summer will be a good one. The boxing team, since Rio 2016 I go into each Olympics expecting absolutely nothing and anything is a bonus. But still the start to this year has not been good at all. Anything can still happen in Paris though, good or bad but it's unlikely we will get a haul of boxing medals.
  4. Friday April 26th, 2024 - Round-Robin Day 4 Results (GMT +2) 12:30 France 5 - 0 South Korea 16:00 Netherlands 0 - 1PSO Norway 20:25 Austria PSO3 - 2 Hungary Provisional Standing After Day 4: 1. 10 2. 9 ------------------ 3. 8 4. 5 5. 4 ------------------ 6. 0 Relegated to Women´s Division I Group B World Championship 2025
  5. France is hosting an Olympics this year, I would rather they not get another one so soon… Same thing applies for Salt Lake City, although for me it’s even worse because that’ll mean it’ll be back to back Olympics in United States.
  6. Not much to disagree with by the the last two posters. I too have started to get a tad concerned. Not just with the games but actual qualification. I think we will do well to get one more qualifier and I’d be really happy with two. I am still not so sure about the women’s 4 in rowing and it’s unlikely any other boat is a contender. Rachel Darragh is now outside a qualification spot in Badminton. Only last October she seemed a certainty and the men’s doubles were in a quota spot too. There will be no qualifiers in Pentathlon, Tristhlon or Judo. Still an outside chance of a shooter qualifying. We really a few swimmers to at least hit the B standard at least or we may have to decline a relay quota. I just think that this Spring has been a bit underwhelming as regards qualifiers.
  7. Stoss also hinted that both sides are already looking beyond the likely awarding of the Games in July, suggesting that discussions about new sports have already begun. “Immediately after the election we will come together to finalize the Olympic Program and it will be time in 2025 or 2026 to talk about new sports,” Stoss said. “We have some ideas, we discussed it already,” he said about the organizing committee’s option to propose additional, locally relevant sports to the Winter Olympic program. https://gamesbids.com/eng/winter-olympic-bids/french-alps-2030-winter-olympics-bid-could-cost-2-billion-euros-work-needed-to-develop-ice-cluster-in-nice/ Snow volleyball anyone?
  8. DEL Playoffs Finals (Best-of-7 Series) Game #5, Friday, April 26th, 7.30 p.m. CET, Pinguins Bremerhaven vs Eisbären Berlin 0-2 (0-0, 0-0, 0-2) Eisbären Berlin win Series 4-1 and are 2023/2024 DEL Champions!
  9. We, all bulgarians, expect very much in the Rhytmic gymnastics, but not only.... I hope this pressure wil not cause stress over our athlets and they will show their best in Paris. Because when the top has been reached, it is always very difficult to Upgrade. For example our Rhytmic gymnastics group won the Gold in Tokyo and now everyone expects too much from the new group. All I can say and wish is good luck!
  10. They made this criteria exactly to avoid dilemma of putting an Arab team into group of Israel @phelps was the 1st one to predict it
  11. black & white, good & less good notes for so far... what's good: - Odette Giuffrida winning silver and going close to beat Krasniqi once again, just another demonstration of efficiency by our "veteran", doing what she has to do and not giving up in front of the super-top class opponents - Savita Russo, 1st global medal among the seniors for our 18-year young rising star (reigning jr. European Champion in the -63kg class), especially important because this is a weight class where we didn't have any significant result since Maria Centracchio's surprising bronze in Tokyo (and unfortunately she had to retire after that success because of sickness) - Elios Manzi winning a very important bronze medal, which should seal the deal for in terms of Olympic qualification in this weight class (still, the fight between Manzi and Piras to earn the final spot for the Games is on and very, very tight) - Antonio Esposito having another good performance in the men's -81kg class, showing he can be there with the top players in that weight category, even if he always finds the way to ruin his tournament when the going gets tough what's not good: - the girls in the -70kg class not performing as expected and, above all, why not giving Kim Polling the chance to make her debut for the Italian team? it would have been important for her under a psychological point of view and also to earn a few points in the OQR and seal the deal of her qualification to Paris, which is not mathematical yet - the guys in the -60kg...after a promising start of the Olympic campaign back in 2022, Pantano had a disappointing outing after another and Carlino, back from a controversial doping ban, has never shown to be really competitive at the top level...result: we won't qualify anybody in this class - in general, why so many of our best fighters aren't even here? this was a perfect tournament to improve their ranking towards the Olympics and collect some medals...
  12. Today
  13. No. They can also qualify via European Championships later on
  14. According to Wikipedia, the teams from AFC will be ranked considering their 2020 Olympic performance (in order identify them as AFC 1, AFC 2 and AFC 3). As only Japan played in the final men's football tournament in Tokyo Olympics of the four teams remaining, I considered the performances in the 2020 AFC U-23 Asian Cup (that served as qualification for Tokyo 2020) and the qualification for the 2020 AFC U-23 Asian Cup. The ranking could be like this: 1. Japan (4th place in Tokyo 2020) 2. Uzbekistan (4th place in 2020 AFC U-23 Asian Cup) 3. Iraq (eliminated in group stage in 2020 AFC U-23 Asian Cup) 4. Indonesia (not qualified for 2020 AFC U-23 Asian Cup)

  21. Damn! I forgot to update yesterday results No. Sadly no. It is in fact a Tournament for nations aiming to start (some return) one day to the World Championship program but currently do not have an IIHF required ice rink (which is one of the conditions to take part in the WCh program since a couple of years when IIHF strengthened its rules). However they can take part in this developement tournament every year if they wish.
