Me too.  I am so happy we have reached the point where it's about the athletes and the competition and not all the usual negativity which was obviously amped up because of the host nation.  Biathlon last night was incredible.  Hope there's much much more of that!

I honestly can't understand how to love a winter Olympics done only on artificial snow.

Biathlon WAS NOT incredible. Leaving aside the fact that the athletes did not know the shooting range, we are talking about a race with climatic conditions at the limit. It was absolutely not a good show from the point of view of respecting the athletes. But at least it was entertaining and fun to see on TV

The finish was pretty incredible.  Yea, the range was a total mess and the weather played a major factor, but yes my point was that it was entertaining and fun.  If respect for the athletes was important, we'd be talking about these Olympics in Norway.

Winter is all about cold temperature, snow is optional.

Plus it's a matter of having your own opinion, for me I loved this games already after seeing the venues.                                                                 I'm extremely stressed right now so olympics is one of those things that makes me feel happy these days.

Well, unless we’re talking about sports that take place exclusively on snow. It’s a little more necessary then :p

My main complain is actually OBS. They had some really odd camera angles in moguls, luge and cross country and some notable TV graphic mistakes all over the place.

Maybe it's just me, but the video at short track seems way too bright.  Feels like a lot of venues have been like that.  We all know ice is white, but most of the time it's not this bad.

Ya, I felt the same thing.

I am guessing broadcasting is a big challenge due to COVID. As mentioned earlier in the thread Tokyo had big problems too, and I don't remember any of that being an issue in Rio or Pyeongchang.

    • So, JTB and Tarjei had 19 podium finishes in 2024/25, seeing as they're retired and won't be competing next season, thought it would be fun to do a completely unnecessary and inaccurate simulation of what breakthroughs next season might have:   The most decorated biathletes of this season without Boes would be as follows:   Laegreid: 6-6-3 Perrot: 4-2-2 Jacquelin: 3-1-1 Samuelsson: 2-2-2 Stroemsheim: 2-0-2 Wright: 2-0-1 Fillon-Mallet: 1-5-2 Giacomel: 1-5-1 Uldal: 1-0-3 Soerum: 1-0-2   Some interesting things happen, for example, Wright becomes sprint and pursuit world champion, Mandzyn gets a very rare podium for Ukraine at the start of the season. Horn and Frey get their first ever podium in world cup and Riethmueller gets a world cup victory.   For the nation medal table, Norway still convincingly takes first place:   Norway: 10-7-11 France: 8-11-5   And then everybody else fighting for scraps:   Sweden: 2-2-3 United States: 2-0-1 Italy: 1-5-1 Germany: 1-0-2 Slovenia: 1-0-0   Even without the Boes, only 9 countries on the podium, but Pidruchnyi for Ukraine comes in 4th for three times, other than that, only Finland and Switzerland were close to getting onto the podium. With how things are going, seems like it's going to be Norway's year next year too with all the hungry youngsters with two extra spots on the Norwegian team.
