Wait, what? Is this the first time in history USA can't field a competitive women's 4x100 freestyle team? I genuinely don't remember them not being one of the main medal candidates :yikes: (I guess my memory is wrong, of course, but still)

They only brought seven women. Australia also didn't field a team in the men's 4x100 free despite being reigning World Champions.

Huh, now that you mention it... :p

Thanks, I guess these oddly placed championships aren't that much of a high priority everywhere, as one would kind of expect :d

In order for :SLO to dislodge :IRL in the 4x100m, their target time is 3:41.74 - around 0.4 faster than they achieved in their heat swim.

German athletes, who finish top four at the World Championships, fulfill the criteria of the German federation and are officially qualified for the Olympics. Märtens already is qualified due to his medal last year. Those who don't finish top four here need to swim the official standard in spring.

It would be a major surprise if Slovenia dont take the quota here.

Let's say that both Wellbrock and Schwarz finish top 4 in the 800m freestyle. Does that mean that Märtens has no chance of swimming that event in Paris?
