Tokyo 2020 Day after Day as it could have happened

Looks Iike I will have less usual work as a lawyer in coming 3 weeks, so I may have more time for my olympic hobby. Maybe we could try to update our day-by-day predictions, but this time I will try to focus only on a few sports which I am interested the most. I don't feel I know much about e.g. archery, taekwondo, track cycling, fencing, shooting, weightlifting etc., so maybe our forum experts on that sports could add their thoughts, too. We will see.

I know June 2021 would be better time for this kind of predictions but I expect in June I will have to focus on my work, to be able to have 3 weeks off for the games.

Weightlifting is almost impossible to predict this time because of the probability that whole countries will be banned from Tokyo

Tatyana Kashirina of Russia will miss Tokyo. She's been suspended for doping and will not be able to compete in the final qualifying period.

On day 1 I would obviously focus on men's cycling road race. Previously I wrote here that Primoz Roglic will win that one. Now thinking whether I should correct that opinion or not. I will try to write sth on that topic soon. Because I remember there were strong recommendations for Alaphilippe and Evenepoel here as well. I hope they both will be healthy next summer, wish them all the best.

After cycling - I would focus on first swimming heats and men's volleyball POL vs IRI and FRA vs USA.

And - last but not least - I will try to predict in which events Poland will have a chance for a decent result on day 1.

Anyway, I must admit that sometimes making such analysis is even better than the real thing for me. ?

we could make the predictions of a sport per day like a calendar forward

Predictions for a day by day would be difficult. One day is not enough for a serious research for me these days. But maybe one day for Every week??? Starting Every Monday? We will see.

Predictions for Og it's difficult, terribly difficult. But it's a game, a funny game, in a moment with nothing, in Italy we are in lockdown...
So, let's play.

FIRST DAY- SAT 24 LUG
10.45 Shooting 10 mt AR Final: Young indians Valivaran and Chandela seems to be in fire, but chinese team is strong and solid.
1. Chandela (IND)
2. Zhao (CHN)
3. Coman (ROU)

11.00 Cycling-Men's road race: To hell, this race is one of worst hellish. May rider can win, many possibility are in. First of all, the road is so difficult? LEss than Rio, for me. And in Rio was a balance race, with climber and classic's specialist with equal possibility. Second question, what will the conditions of Evanepoel be? Everything can happen. Third question, can Ganna resist on last climbing and recover in the last 30 Km?
1. Van Aert (BEL)
2. Alaphilippe (FRA)
3. Evanepoel (BEL)

13.50 Weigthlifting -49 Kg F: This is easy.
1. Jang (CHN)
2. Ri (PRK)
3. Mirabai (IND)

15.30 Shooting 10 m ap M: Welcome back in the hell. If women's shooting have some values, in men's shooting there are so many wonderful shooters...
1. Park (KOR)
2. Verma (IND)
3. Chernousov (RUS)

16.45 Archery Mixed team final Here gold seems easy. Seems. I think Korea, in Japan, don't win so many: but probabilly mixed team is one of that
1. Korea (KOR)
2. India (IND)
3. Chinese Taipei (TPE)

18.28 Judo Women -48 Kg In judo, Japan wins in so many categories... This is the first for me.
1. Tonaki (JPN)
2. Kransiqui (KOS)
3. Bilodid (UKR)
3. Mughabat (MGL)

18.59 Judo Men's -60 Kg And this is second
1. Nagayama (JPN)
2. Chivimiani (GEO)
3. Mshivobadze (RUS)
3. Luvtillaev (UZB)

20.00 Fencing Womens' epee  Women's individual epee: crazy girl in hell! :)  I think chinese's Sun (NOT YANG) is the n.1 favourite, but really everithing can happen
1. Sun (CHN)
2. Popescu (ROU)
3. Fiamingo (ITA)

20.30 Fencing Men's sabre  A weapon with many youngs talent, which of them will have a cold head?
1. Szilagy (HUN)
2. Apithy (FRA)
3. Oh (KOR)

21.30 Taekwondo women's 49 Kg Here, a few number of competitions make all very hard. But..
1. Sim (KOR)
2. Bogdanovic (SRB)
3. Wongpannakit (THA)
3. Wu (CHN)

21.45 Taekwondo Men's 49 Kg A final written, an end not written
1. Dell'Aquila (ITA)
2. Jang (KOR)
3. Tortosa (ESP)
3. Ahdipour (IRN)

    • the basic is the same but with different tricks, different strategy etc. it's a mixture of frestyle and Greco because you can't dive for a single leg attack.    I'm surprised to see ~20 wrestlers in each weight. hopefully that doesn't tempt UWW or IOC to try this in major events. as a wrestling fan I find this very unwatchable !
