Any predictions for the top 3 (number of confirmed cases when all of this is over)?

My prediction would be: 1) USA 2) Germany 3) Spain

Also: Anyone else worried about Sweden? Their strategy seems rather "optimistic" ...

Brazil surely will be in this top 3. I have no doubts after the last president speech

Finally, pharmaceutical giant Roche has decided to share their recipe for a crucial fluid needed for testing, meaning the number of tests can finally be increased relatively soon...

Meanwhile the prime minister kept going with the pretty unprecedented advices for people's daily life. This time specifically he stressed how important it is - now more than ever - to stay healthy and fit, so he urged everyone to, quote, "Get at least 7.5-8 hours of sleep, eat healthy, make sure you go and get fresh air and excersise if you are able to do so". Heeded his words and went for a one hour run: fresh air (apart from the fields where farmers have just spread cow shit around to make things grow better) and excersise :p

I'm sure @Gianlu33 or @phelps can confirm it, but I'm reading 969 (!) new deaths in Italy in the past 24 hours..?

unfortunately, yes (even if 50 of them are a late addiction from yesterday, nontheless 919 is always the worst or second worst total of the entire period)...

but despite the number of deaths (most of them are people who entered the hospitals at the beginning of the month), the curve of new cases is starting to slow down its increasing phase (as day after day more tests are performed, so the percentage of new positive results goes down)...

however, the main focus since yesterday here is on that part of the EU idiots not only doing nothing to help the Countries with more problems, but even trying to take advantage of the situation and trying to finally destroy Italy and Spain (and sadly I have to notice that the leaders of this criminal group are Germany and the Netherlands, followed like sheeps follow the shepherd by the rest of the North and Eastern Nations)...

tonight our President Mattarella pronounced a very touching speech about the whole situation, with words of condolence for all the Italian people who lost a beloved family member or friend and with words very soft in the form but very tough in the deep meaning against those european (not so good) friends...

I fear we're yet to see the true disaster coming off this virus...and it won't be related to the health system and the number of deaths directly caused by it...:hairpull:  :wall:

Yeah, also countries who did manage to build up more significant financial reserves than those who are all the time having financial troubles are having their own big virus troubles by now, so it's not a simple matter of just shoving stuff around, even though people like to think it is. But yeah, it's a rather hard issue as to how to deal with this. Populist politicians going around and saying "this and that country are out to destroy us!" are a nasty bunch, using this for their own political gain once this thing has settled down.

As I said to some one a few days ago, Italy and the EU is like two persons sitting atop of a big pile of high explosive, where both persons hold a cigarette lighter in their hands and threaten the other with finally using the lighter. As both are going to explode no matter which lights up the lighter, the better course of action is maybe doing something else :)

This is going to be very hard to resolve yes, but in the end both parties are interested in not to escalate this.

The collapse of the €-zone is going to hurt everyone in Europe (not only those who use the €), and the disruption caused by that would make the current crisis pale in comparison, so it is common interest for everyone to work to avoid that.

Short term electoral politics is going to influence all this, sadly (There are elections in GER next year, i think also in NED, there can by an election any time in ITA), which will affect the leader's ability and willingness to compromise. But compromise will have to be made by both sides.

no, it's not a question of populist politicians...

this situation is a shared situation between all the Continent, it's not something related to the bad management of the State (in that case it would be understandable and maybe even "logic" to make a difference between bad and virtuous behaviours and to take some precautions to save them from being contaminated by the results of the mistakes of the "bad guys")...

but this time we're all on the same boat...nobody can afford to say "we don't want to share the financial risks of the crisis brought by this virus" or pretend that the Countries hit harder by that have to basically sell their souls and their people to a bunch of rules that were stupid when they were thought in a relatively happy season and proved completely wrong everytime they've been applied...the Greek case is there, in front of all eyes (I suggest every people in Europe to read some interviews released by Yannis varoufakis in the last days about EU and their behaviour in that circumstance and in this one)...

    • the basic is the same but with different tricks, different strategy etc. it's a mixture of frestyle and Greco because you can't dive for a single leg attack.    I'm surprised to see ~20 wrestlers in each weight. hopefully that doesn't tempt UWW or IOC to try this in major events. as a wrestling fan I find this very unwatchable !
