Swimming FINA Short Course World Championships 2021

Recommended Posts

Didn't even know where to post this, but Rūta Meilutytė :LTU jumped back into the pool after a three year hiatus yesterday.

Today she won the 50m breaststroke in the Lithuanian Championships with a time of 29.33 and that is 0.1s faster than the World Champion here :p

Rūta still doesn't know if she wants to compete and commit to being an athlete again, but she is darn capable to come back still if she'd like to.

Can these races be seen anywhere? I don't see any regular live stream and the finals videos on YouTube are swiftly deleted all the time.

Our mixed relay team made the final with the 6th best time and a national record. Still no medal for us, this is our third final so far, I really hope we can win one this weekend.

The full sessions are up on the FINA channel on YouTube if they're not geoblocked in your country. Here's the finals from yesterday:

And I just saw they're on Eurovision where you can rewatch everything (because live is no option for me, definitely during the work week) :cheer:

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
