  1. @Vojthas Did the ISU publish the “stand-by” list for reallocations yet. The qualification document says they are supposed to by October 30. It would be nice to have because it appears we will have a few reallocations...
  2. Well, I found some sad news from the UIAA today. “There will now be four World Cups, not five. North American World Cup(s) are now scheduled for 2020-2021. Consequently, there will also be no North American Championship. The Ice Climbing showcase scheduled for the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne has been cancelled.” This season was set to be the biggest, and best ice climbing season of all time. There would 3 continents visited on the world tour and 3 continental championships for the first time. However, it appears the UIAA has had to downsize the season . The good news is that it looks the US West Coast will still get its event. Hopefully I’ll be able to attend in 2020 or 2021. It’s also official that Ice Clombing will not be a demo sport at the 2020 YOG . However, the UIAA are putting in a major effort (at least from what I’ve heard and seen in the media and on their website) to get Ice Climbing into the 2026 Winter Olympics I believe. I really hope the IOC give us natural track luge and ice climbing in 2026.
  3. I know this lady wasn’t an Olympian, but I feel like Paralympians count for this thread too. She will be missed:
  4. I think groups B and D are the only ones where the quarterfinalists aren’t known
  5. The Astros have become a villains of the World Series in the US. Anyone, not an Astros fan is cheering for the Nationals now. Odd situation all around, and totally despicable behavior from the Astros organization. Also, remember that last year during the World Series, it was their players who made racist gestures towards a Japanese pitcher.
  6. No, just regular saiyan
  7. Jacquline Moarao
  8. Sorry, I’m not the Paris 2024 logo of your dreams
  9. It makes me very happy to officially welcome the much talked about @brunamoura to the forum!! Your fan club is happy to see you on here
  10. I happy to let everyone know that myself and @bestmen have decided to become the first couple
  11. Didn’t really workout from the looks of the draw...
  12. Yeah, I’m getting a sense that Canada is becoming much more sectarian. Quebec is peak Quebec right now. The West ain’t happy, and the East is chill. Pretty soon our North v. South v. West Coast, will be your French v. West v. East.
  13. Lebanon has been seeing major protests this week. However, unlike the continent of South America, there’s have stayed more peaceful. They’ve labeled themselves as “the happiest depressed people”, and made their movement a peaceful one. I think this video sums up a good way to find light hearted moments in protests:
  14. We generally see eye to eye around, but I must disagree with this. The IOC and the IPC have a memorandum of understanding. They work to cooperate and share resources. Both understand that they are equally important organizations. I can’t really hold it against the IOC for wanting to support their event more, it is the whole reason for their existence after all. The relationship is beneficial for both. To the second point you make, absolutely no. Many para athletes would get overlooked and shutout in that scenario. If we look at games where Para-Sport and Olympic sport are combined (Commonwealth Games, World Games, Mediterranean Games (and a few I may be forgetting), the host country generally only choose classifications, sports, and events in which they will win. There would be no para-sport at this point. There would just be some free charity medals. The games wouldn’t promote inclusion, though I very much respect your desire for that, they would promote exclusion and sectarian divide. The Paralympics are fine on their own. They are rapidly increasing in popularity and TV time/audience. The games do a lot of good for people with “disabilities”, and I’d hate to see that taken away. Also, and should get their own NOCs tbh. Faroe Islands NOC now has recognition from and I believe. Both are also technically independent countries in free association.
  15. Well I gave up on running, but so far it’s paid off well for my climbing and skating Last night I topped a 5.10a (6a) route in my gym for the first time. I almost climbed another 5.10a last night too, but fell off 2/3 the way up. The 5.10a I did too was probably the best climbing I ever did and the best route reading I ever did. Last week I also skated around 20km in one day (because I had meetings at odd times). Next week I’m hoping for my first 5.10b (6a+) Route, or my first V3 (6a)/V4 (6b) Boulder at the gym. Also, I’m working on getting a pair of professional grads inline Speed skates.
  16. Chinese team disqualified in Orienteering for a “extensive cheating operation”. https://orienteering.sport/swiss-and-russian-dominance-at-a-dramatic-cism-military-world-games/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
  17. From what I read the big winner last night was The Bloc. Also, quite a few political pundits saying that Quebec may leave Canada, and Alberta and Saskatchewan may leave Canada. Overall, Trudeau stays PM, but with weakened power. I’m also happy to see that the PPC did terribly. The Greens also got a mighty 3 seats
  18. Cigarettes do not cause cancer (at least according to the people that supposedly pay me)
  19. I remember this morning only yo totally forget about them until I saw this. Any exit polls you can share? That should tell me all I need to know
  20. Yes, the one where 2,000 years of oppression was punished, and then very quickly became barbaric and out of control. I think that Marianne stands for more than that though, and that wasn’t what the designer or organizers were going for.
  21. It happened on that comment. It took forever for the page to load, and for my comment to send.
  22. These two comments accurately some up the international reaction from what I can gather. About 50% don’t like it or hate it. Then about 25% love it like myself and @vinipereira , and another 25% like @intoronto and @hckosice hate it. Honestly it is what it is. There will never be a logo that will make more than (at most) 60% of people happy. What matters is that many French fans seem to like, so good for the organizing committee. I think the symbolism is only matched by Rio, and those are my two favorite Olympics logos.
  23. Said the man who comes from a country of checkers ?
  24. Chernobyl. Now there’s the show of the year.
