IMAGINARY SUMMER OLYMPICS RESULTS SUMMARY
rafalgorka replied to rafalgorka's topic in Totallympics Polls
Updated after Event #7 (Poll #5). -
Poll #5 has ended. The results are: Event #5 - Gymnastics Artistics - Women's Uneven Bars 1. Nadia Comaneci ROU 2. Aliya Mustafina RUS 3. He Kexin CHN There was a tie (7-7, Mustafina vs Comaneci) for the first place so according to my rules I had to choose the winner myself. But one more question to @dcro here. You told us your opinion on Mustafina before. But what you think about Comaneci? Uneven bars - was it her strong apparatus or not? Event #6 - Canoe Slalom - Men's C1 1. Tony Estanguet FRA 2. Michal Martikan SVK 3. Benjamin Savsek SLO Here was another tie (1-1, Savsek vs Chanut) for the third place so I chose the bronze medalist. This choice let me postpone the decision whether we should use the nowadays qualification criteria in our polls or not. (2 medals for France in this event would not be possible in Tokyo). Event #7 - Wrestling Greco-Roman - Men's Super Heavyweight 1. Mijain Lopez CUB 2. Aleksandr Karelin RUS 3. Rulon Gardner USA 3. Aleksandr Kolchinsky UKR Here I needed to choose the second bronze medalist (2 bronze medals should be awarded in this event, like in boxing or judo). @MHSN I wonder what you think about these results??? Our medal table and our results summary will be updated soon. You will find them in the links below. @Sindo is there a chance to put all the threads connected with this series of polls in one place here (easy to find)? I put everything in my so-called "signature" here but it takes too much space already and there may be more than 100 polls in this series. Anyway, thanks for the votes in Poll #5. You can now vote in Poll #6 (link below). Greetings for everyone. Stay safe and healthy, please.

Hmm... I have a small problem with voting for Canoe Slalom C1 now. I was worried this kind of problem will happen sooner or later. At this moment it looks like: 1. Estanguet FRA 2. Martikan SVK 3. Chanut FRA But if these Imaginary Summer Olympics should be some kind of build-up to Paris 2024 games - should we use the nowadays athelete participation criteria? We are not certain how it will look in Paris so for the time being we can use Tokyo 2020 criteria. That means only one athlete per NOC could participate in Canoe Slalom M C1 and there shouldn't be 2 medals for France in this event. And if so, and there is a tie for 3rd place, anyone's vote can give bronze to somebody or I will have to pick the 3rd place by myself when voting ends. What you think? PS. Personally I think that previous rule, until Athens 2004, allowing 2 athletes from one NOC to participate in each individual canoe slalom event was better. But maybe we should stick to nowadays rules. @hckošice your thoughts on that?

You can still vote in the Poll #5: Gymnastics Artistic, Women's Uneven Bars - Canoe Slalom, Men's C1 - Wrestling Greco-Roman, Men's Super Heavyweight. Voting for these events ends on Wednesday 9 a.m. CET. https://totallympics.com/topic/12853-imaginary-summer-olympics-poll-5-gymnastics-artistic-womens-uneven-bars-canoe-slalom-mens-c1-wrestling-greco-roman-mens-super-heavyweight/ But here comes Poll #6 already. These are olympic champions in certain events. Imagine that all these champions are on the top of their game at the very same moment in time. Who would have won gold? Be aware that the voting ends at Saturday March 12th, 9 a.m. CET. These pollls are like event start lists, who would win, what you think? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_medalists_in_cycling_(men)#Time_trial,_individual https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_medalists_in_cycling_(men)#Keirin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_medalists_in_cycling_(men)#Cross-country Be also aware that these Imaginary Summer Olympics take part in Poland - Warsaw and around. So I think individual time trial route will be rather flat with some small hills on the way. But I believe we can find quite difficult, hilly terrain for MTB cross-country race in the woods around Warsaw. (additional question for the Polish users: where would you find the TT and MTB routes around Warsaw? Their profiles - how would they look like???) Below you can find our results summary and medal table. Let's vote then!

I have decided to speed up things even more. You can still vote in the Poll #4 - Badminton, Men's Singles. Voting for this event ends on Sunday 9 a.m. CET. https://totallympics.com/topic/12828-imaginary-summer-olympics-poll-4-badminton-mens-singles/ But I may not have time to prepare a new poll on Sunday so it's already here. As I told you earlier, from now on there will be 2-3 polls a week with 3 events in each poll. These are olympic champions in certain events. Imagine that all these champions are on the top of their game at the very same moment in time. Who would have won gold? Be aware that the voting ends at Wednesday March 9th, 9 a.m. CET. These pollls are like event start lists, who would win, what you think? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_medalists_in_gymnastics_(women)#Uneven_bars https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_medalists_in_canoeing_(men)#C-1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_medalists_in_Greco-Roman_wrestling#Super_heavyweight @thiago_simoes any tips for gymnastics? @hckošice canoe? @MHSN wrestling tips? I have listened to your previous advice and I have decided that first wrestling poll will be Greco-Roman Super Heavyweight, looks like this is the most interesting wrestling event. And one more thing. After a very long deliberation I have decided that because these are our IMAGINARY Summer Olympics in an IMAGINARY world with no wars and no violence, all the former olympic champions from all over the world are allowed to participate. So there will be no ban for Russian or Belarussian or Saudi or North Korea or any-other-NOC-you-may-think-of athletes. Despite what is going on now here in Eurasia and despite my strong belief that ban for Russian and Belarussian athletes in real sports these days is a really good and rightful decision, I think that for the purpose of this series of polls... everyone's invited. These polls need to be fun and relief, a tiny chance to forget about real-life struggles, so that is how I see it. So... let's vote!

@SindoI have written here before that this week I will prepare another series of polls here, a kind of contest for users, with predicting the results of certain events, points to get for it, sth similar to what I've done during Beijing games. But unfortunately, due to a lot of work at the court, and being quite involved in some activities helping Ukrainian refugees here in Poland, I am not able to do it. I will do it later when things settle down. For now on, I'll stick to the imaginary olympics series, maybe it's not the best moment for this either, but I also need some kind of relief and joy these days. So I will keep making these polls even if not many users vote in them. Have a good day everyone, stay safe.

I think we need to speed up a bit. At this rate, we will not make the polls for all 329 events before real Paris 2024 olympics get started. So this polls ends on Sunday morning CET. And after that there will be 2 or 3 polls every week and there will be 3 events in each poll. Do you think it's a good idea? Let me know. And god bless civilians.
