  1. My today's evening TV schedule: CNN, BBC News, TVN 24, i24, France24, Euronews etc. etc... The olympic games has ended, the dark times has started, feels like 1936 somehow...
  2. If I were you, I would think more about Ukrainians than Russians at this very day, today. Russians ordinary people are not the one who seeks shelter from the bombs falling on their heads today, you know. Safety first, then we will think about poor people who will suffer from "economy sanctions". At least noone will shoot them in the head, you know.
  3. I have never understood why Dutch hadn't kicked all the Russian business out of the Netherlands after they shut down the plane carrying so many of your homies. Business first, isn't it? Don't be angry at me, that's nothing personal, I just don't understand this thing.
  4. Take care, @Illya all the best wishes for you and your close ones
  5. Ice hockey? Really? After Tokyo, I thought you're land of golfers now ;-)
  6. Thanks a lot. Here is English translation via Google Translate, if anyone's is interested. Niklas Edin Now Niklas Edin can also bet - on billiards Of: Linus Norberg , Hans Abrahamsson , Mattias Karlsson , Tomas Ros Published: February 19 Updated: February 19th SPORTBLADET BEIJING / STOCKHOLM. They have won everything that can be won. But Team Edin has no plans to quit - but the skipper may also invest in billiards. - I play a lot of billiards, says Niklas Edin. Most World Cup and European Championship gold. And now also an Olympic gold, the only thing that was missing in Lag Edin's prize locker. The Swedes have now won everything that can be won and are one of the world's best curling teams of all time. If the win in Beijing was the final destination for the close friends? - No, we have not said that. We will see what the life situation looks like for us, but right now it indicates that we are tough as usual, says Oskar Eriksson and continues: - We have not said what we want to do, we will evaluate it after the season. Right now we're just going to enjoy the moment. "Have nothing else for me" The next big championship is the World Cup in Las Vegas in early April. Christoffer Sundgren also believes that there are no plans to close down. - There is probably a lot left to win. Well, we can pull it off again. We have not actually discussed anything. But I have nothing else for me. You can make more money on an engineering job that I have studied for, but it is more fun with curling. Can bet on billiards However, skipper Niklas Edin may make a small career change. To also bet on - billiards. - Yes maybe not instead but it would be fun to combine a little, I play a lot of billiards which is a little more gentle on the body. It has also given a lot to challenge the skull a little more than curling, which is a mixture of mental and physical sports. But I will probably continue with curling as well, it's a bit too fun.
  7. A new thread: How did your NOC perform in Beijing? Was it better than expected or was it worse? What were the ups and downs, what were the highlights, what were the biggest disappointments? What were the most emotional events for you? Who made a suprisingly good result? I think everyone here is interested in every other user thoughts. Waiting for interesting info, sth you can't read anywhere else ;-)
  8. Ok, thanks. Nice to hear that. You didn't put that info in your profile here on totallympics though ;-) So - as I constantly break the rules in this series of polls - I have decided that everyone whose nationality was unknown, represents Belgium in this competition :-) Because... why not? :-) But now obviously we will change your flag. Greetings, thanks for particapation!!!
  9. There will be no competition between the users in this series of polls. I'd like to open a discussion only (who was the best super heavy boxer???) and I'd like to make a medal table. Another series of polls, sth similar to Beijing 2022 olympics, with points for users and some predictions of future events is also planned but I think it will be available here next week.
  10. Hello everyone, I have a proposal of another series of polls - kind of buiding up to Paris 2024. It is similar to the poll #25 in Road to Beijing series - I know it may be found stupid or crazy or too complicated. But let's try it, let's do some kind of "imaginary olympics". These are olympic champions in certain event. Imagine that all these champions are on the top of their game at the very same moment in time. Who would have won gold? I will try to prepare around 10-15 polls like that, maybe twice a week or sth like that, we will see if you are interested in it, and then we will know if I shall continue or I should not waste your time... We could prepare a medal table after each event, we could discuss why we choose one athlete and why we don't choose another one, we could put here some youtube videos of certain events etc... We will see how it works. Similar boxing super heavyweight poll was here before, but now I changed the rules a bit and we'll see if you are interested.

  12. Final results & summary postponed due to me coming back to real work today and having much more files on the desk than expected. But stay tuned!
  13. Hello, everyone! First of all, congrats to all our Finnish users for a hockey win! I would like to be in Helsinki now!!! And secondly, looks like we have our polls-winner!!! Provisional rankings show that @Wumo won the whole thing. And that was pretty close - looks like the decisive move was predicting that Victoria Carl will finish 12th in 30k cross-country race. Man, how the fuck did you know that??? Congratulations @Wumo There is a bottle of best Polish vodka prepared for you. Well-frozen. You'll find it in the post. Enjoy! Congrats for @mrv86 and @phelps for the other medals. That was so close!!! Don't give up, maybe next season... But I would like to say it loudly that @Wumo is such a deserved winner here. I have written this earlier in these polls series, but I will repeat it now - I would like to THANK YOU for all the efforts in your prediction contests. I can see now how much time and work it takes, so big respect for you from me and all of us, I guess!!! I think there may be some minor mistakes in the peleton scores but a winner looks to be certain. If you find any mistakes, please let me know. You will find the provisional rankings table attached to this post in a doc file. I have promised a Super-Sunday for my family today, after all these 16 days in Beijing, so the final rankings with all these fancy flags&tags will be published rather later than sooner, forgive me that. It will be here altogether with all the behind-the-scenes reports, special honorary awards and doping violations summary. Thank you all for your participations, that was FUN!!! Have a good Sunday, everyone... and now let's only hope there won't be a war next week or later on... i am just too afraid to watch non-sporting news these days... how the fuck could we all get that close to this shit? so everyone, stay safe, please... Bye! 22.02.20 final poll.docx

  15. Time for a final Poll #16. Be aware voting ends at 2:05 CET, start of W curling final. 1 pt for each event 3 bonus pts for 3 correct winners and 2 x 2 bonus pts for writing in comments who will get 9th and 12th places in W cross-country freestyle 30km??? race. So still 10 pts to get.
  16. Looks like an-hour break on live tv. Nothing's going on live. What to do now? ;-)
  17. Congrats Dear Swedish users, please share later on any links to Swedish media (newspapers) interviews with Edin. We can always translate the texts into English via Google Translate ;-)
  18. Very sad to hear that, I very much like the whole story about him in David Maraniss Rome 1960 book.
