  1. Well, 'new' is relative, I guess
  2. It's still a shame there's not some somewhat fat, bearded 60-year old riding on his noisy motorbike ahead of the keirins anymore
  3. You're roommates or you're not roommates I guess
  4. Yeah, so far Mayer has lost on all three events compared to his forecast, whereas Warner only lost marginally on one and won on the other two (especially shot put). Difference is still small though, but Mayer does need to pick it up.
  5. Nagy bows out with 218kg in the CJ. Warmup weight for Kuworge!
  6. So they made a ski slope, with the plan of that being given back to nature in the years after the Olympics, and now it's given back to nature after the Olympics? Well that actually sounds excellent!
  7. Yeah, there goes their last semi-realistic chance On the other hand, it does increase the chance for a Syrian medal, which should be not much of a problem now without any major issues for Asaad. Would be only their 4th ever medal and their first since 2004.
  8. Today is the day, history for the Netherlands! Enzo Kuworge will be the first Dutch weightlifter at the Olympics since Piet van der Kruk in 1968! Van der Kruk was the Dutch Eurosport commentator from 1992 until 2016, but sadly passed away in June last year. I find it heartbreaking that he, a true lover of the sport, didn't make it long enough - by a year and a bit - to finally see someone follow in his footsteps Meanwhile the B-group snatch finished, 180kg as best lift(s), which is the PB of Kuworge from earlier this year. Who knows what's possible in an A-group with only seven athletes, only three of which are really a whole class above the rest. I'm hoping for 6th for Kuworge.
  9. A little surprise, I'd say, not huge
  10. I doubt she'll ever reach the mega hype of Schippers, since Bol didn't even have her own RACE ALERT promo video, but she is infinitely more likeable (although Schippers not being anywhere near her best anymore somehow made her a lot more likeable than when she was all testosteroned up like a bull seeing red ), so it'd be really good.
  11. I am so nervous for this race
  12. Severe hamstring injury for vdPlaetsen
  13. Plus he'd be a very valuable part of Canada's 4x100m team (although of course he'll be exhausted after the decathlon).
  14. Not really 5-10-20-25-50 all sort of make sense, but 35? Nah
  15. Like testicular cancer wasn't enough.
  16. Warner is in amazing shape.
  17. 35km?! What the heck, I thought it would be just 20km from now on (bad enough). 35 is so....random
  18. Van der Plaetsen looks injured
  19. Decathlon and heptathlon on the same day, 50k being gone after this week (or will it have a goodbye at the world championships next year?)....someone really needs to kick down WA.
  20. I think I've heard her being mentioned quite literally once so far
  21. Rodriguez crashed and is carried off
  22. Decathlete running 10.12 Not surprising for Warner though!
  23. That's a preview instead of a forecast though In the multi-events, there used to be an awesome website which had all the participants and their best results of the past two years or so, in such a way that you could change them yourself and see what a certain result on a certain event would mean for the standings. That way you could actually get a sense of how things going, instead of the usual thing where people/media are like "He's in 1st place after day one, so it's going well!" without taking in account if that actually means it's going well.
  24. By the way, apparently Hassan's last 200m in the 5k went in 27.7 while Mu's last 200m in the 800 went in 28.0 Too bad there was no potential quadruple
  25. There's not any good forecast website for the multi-events anymore, is there?
