  1. Because four freestyle relays is really, really way more than enough
  2. Why even have life guards, one might wonder then...luckily at least the coach was paying attention.
  3. So Anita Alvarez became unwell after her routine in one of the finals yesterday (7th) and sank to the bottom Thankfully her coach was very well aware of what was happening, jumped right in and picked her up from the bottom of the pool. When she was coming up, someone from the organization jumped in as well and helped her to the side and out of the pool, where Alvarez regained consciousness.
  4. Sure, they're letting a woman die in order to make absolutely sure there's no abortion because....reasons/religion/whatever, but hey, at least she won't be burning in hell for having her (as good as dead) baby aborted ! https://www.bbc.com/news/world-61898437 Hopefully enough pressure can be put on Malta in time or at least they manage to get her out of that hellhole of a hospital.
  5. Another issue is that there's no set order, which results in one big chaotic mess for 375 meters or so, and only then you get a bit of a picture how things really are going.
  6. Realistic in the sense that in places where you get some form of financial support once you stop working (like here, but I'm not sure how it works everywhere), it stands to reason that when the average life expectancy and such goes up, people work a little longer. Just to use some extreme examples: if people, on average, live 50 years, and are physically too weak to work from 40 years old, it would seem normal to have a lower retirement age than if people on average reach 110 and are physically strong for 90 years. There is improved efficiency, to be fair. Looking at a local bakery, for example: they might work almost the same hours as when the bakery started, 150 or so years ago (not exactly as much), but instead of being able to sell bread to a few adjacent streets, they can now sell it to the entire town and people from outside. And yeah, desire for profit of everyone involved (including a lot of the regular working people) definitely plays a part, as it has always done and it always will. If speaking for myself: I do want to earn a nice living and in the ideal situation, which of course I'm not sure I will reach, a majority of what I earn is not simply for food and living costs, but mostly for 'fun' (which one can argue is a form of profit)
  7. Obviously, but yeah, people are not often known to vote for realistic things It might destroy the economy and everything, but people would vote for a retirement age of 40 if they could
  8. USA 6,66 seconds under the WR pace at the first exchange in tonight's circus event
  9. Which is quite funny, considering retirement age already seems to be rather low in France, so raising it seems rather...normal Not much wrong with somehow tying it to life expectancy.
  10. It's not new though. Swimming championships seem to have been pushed away gradually for a few years now (before 2020).
  11. This should be Olympic yesterday already!
  12. TISC vibes in the PowerShell course I'm following this week Wonderland
  13. Yeah, everything seems to be streaming only. It's not on Belgian TV, Dutch NOS will start an hour after the session started, not on BBC (TV), doesn't seem to be on German TV. It's like every channel is ignoring the existence of the FINA sports nowadays. How are people supposed to get interested in such an incredibly invisible sport?
  14. Huh, I'll be damned. The switching of the team information when they change sides confused me, I guess
  15. Here that just redirects to aquatics.eurovisionsports.tv where most of the videos aren't working. There's one or two heats which have a 'Watch now' button, the rest just has a red line in that place So basically, there's no funtioning on-demand option here, since Dutch NOS only broadcasts the finals sessions on their website (which can't be watched on-demand).
  16. Who thought of these graphics that don't show the set standings and so don't show whether it's the first, second or third set?
  17. That would be such insane bullshit.
  18. And Matteo Trentin was quite busy making fun of (his friend) Bettiol after that Nice to see Sagan finally take a win again He went from the 'he won again, oh well, snow is cold' territory (where for example Jakobsen is in now, in sprints) to 'it'd be cool if he can get a win again!' territory
  19. If you're still reading this: good luck @Agger!
  20. That Corvette was whiped out by the #83 with François Perrodo behind the wheel. That is the AF Corse LMP2....basically teammates of the AF Corse leaders in GTE Pro. Hmm.
  21. Well and that's a very broken #64 Corvette (which was on the way to catch the Ferrari for the lead) Thanks to a sleepy LMP2 just outright whiping them into the barriers.
  22. Being the GTE Pro leader this year seems to bring about a curse, so AF Corse better prepares Both Corvettes and the Porsche #92 all had major issues when in the lead.. Meanwhile the #7 Toyota had an issue for a bit, but after a reset they were back on their way.
  23. That's an excellent one indeed! Personally I've always used the ones by Andy Blackmore, which are similar but fit on a single sheet of paper (if you print on both sides): https://spotterguides.com/ He doesn't do it for Le Mans anymore (financial issues I think), but a Polish guy has taken over in basically the exact same way https://spotters.guide/ Matter of preference and what you're used to I think
  24. The doping thing seems more like an excuse, but other than that this is not at all a bad development. Not that it will make much of a difference, I suppose.
  25. Since that was their WCh selection, that makes sense Too bad for McColgan though, having to do it all on her own because of that.
