  1. Well damn, that is some world record. And now we don't have the situation anymore where the OR is faster than the WR
  2. I think I just heard them pass through the sound barrier.
  3. Alright, now we know quite a lot more about what the German time means Still, this is with a mediocre Dygert, so let's see the Brits. Should be an clear medal though, although that was probably clear already. Edit: mediocre Dygert was a bit wrong, she destroyed the team because she was too strong.
  4. Where did you hear that? There's a disappointing amount of information on that on Twitter
  5. We'll only get a real sense when GBR and USA are on the track (and USA only if Dygert is somehow better than last week), unlike ITA and FRA Germany was actually considered a medal contender, albeit only a little more than NZL and this NZL performance is way under par anyway
  6. Definitely. In the 2032 Olympics the women will be riding 3:55
  7. Because this is the first actual big event for which tons of money is invested on a specific target since then (world championships, meh)
  8. And that's the WR gone by three seconds....by a team that's not one of the two big gold medal favourites
  9. This track is FAST, or are Japanese meters shorter?
  10. That WR is going to be absolutely destroyed if these are already the French and Italian times.
  11. Stephanie Morton retired last year. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2020/nov/24/stephanie-mortons-retirement-marks-transition-phase-for-australian-cycling
  12. Right, time for some other things while waiting for the team sprint to be back
  13. Should be Germany - China for gold and Netherlands - ROC for bronze (assuming no weird stuff happens in the first round, of course) and both could be very tight.
  14. Dutch women beat Russia in qualifying of the team sprint Doesn't mean that much yet, but still.
  15. We're underway Apparently Kristina Vogel, nowadays sadly paraplegic after her crash, is doing commentary for German TV, that's cool. Nice that she seems to be doing well nowadays, considering the circumstances.
  16. Yeah, I believe you once told me there is a strong suspicion of him losing non-Olympic finals and probably gaining money that way to help his very poor family? If that's truly the case, I could definitely find some sympathy for that, assuming that Cuba is not a country where you will lead the rich, sponsored life... I find it so amazing to see Lopez in action and playing around with these 130kg guys as if they are a children's toy. Truly one of the most impressive athletes of the entire Games, if not the most impressive.
  17. Too bad it won't inspire Thom de Boer for a 30+ medal, since he already said before the Olympics he'll retire after it, since he can no longer combine his regular job with his part-time swimming
  18. I'm positively surprised how quiet this thread got after a pretty worrying start Sad for the two mentioned above though
  19. This got me curious, so: four out of these six were in the Rio final, two of which were in the London final, one of which was already in the Beijing final, where Ralf Schumann took his 5th consecutive medal, illustrating the point even better, besides saying something about Schumann's quality of course
  20. At least in the skeet/trap events you can actually see something being hit and in some of them (like the mixed trap event) the score was shown all the time. I get that you can hardly show a 0,5mm target well, but surely at the very least something like in biathlon, where you can see the results of multiple people at once, isn't impossible in this day and age? I just genuinely don't understand it.
  21. Ah great, I was hoping we might be able to see this in a decent way, but all we get to see is the athlete shooting and a small score graphic after said athlete shot, instead of actually showing the targets. The horror show continues. Time for IBU to be given some control here
