  1. Arriba Espana! Gold for Miguel Angel Lopez in the men's 35k race walk... Germany on their way to silver, Italy should end up with bronze... Karlsson boiled & missing in action... pretty boring races and hyper-messy organization with men and women on the same circuit at the same time...
  2. Just getting the most benefit from Russia's ban...
  3. she has a great fighting spirit...she also won a great race at the recent Commonwealth Games against some African specialists...
  4. the problem is that it combines technique with pure strenght... to succeed in shot put, people necessarily need to be very big and strong and it's not easy to find many women with both size and athletic skills to reach some kind of measures... not to mention what used to be the common practice in the fabulous Eighties... with all its troubles, anti-doping right now is a very serious thing if compared to those years...
  5. It's a small plant of a species typical of Southern Bavaria, symbol of the energy transition towards "green energy". at the end of the event the plants will be planted in a designated area of the Olympic Park...and the athletes who will go personally to make the gesture will have a plaque with their name next to the future tree in memory of their contribution to a better environment.
  6. I'd like to see her and Ponzio having dinner together...
  7. so, Ehammer is leading the Decathlon with a huge margin... and considering that he's good to great in the 110m Hurdles (13.48 PB), pretty good (5.10m PB) in the Pole Vault and not so tragic in the 1500m (4.42.x PB), he only has to survive a very poor discus throw (39m PB) and a modest javelin throw (55m PB) to take the gold medal home... I don't think there's room for Kaul (nor anybody else) for a comeback...
  8. Dester wasn't running...he was jumping like a kangaroo in the last 50 meters of the decathlon's 400m...
  9. p.s. you can try SVT play (with a vpn)... they have the whole session ondemand... https://www.svtplay.se/video/35677773/simning-em/sim-em-langbana-15-aug-18-00
  10. the men's 50m backstroke was a good one (and very close)...I think it's worth watching... the women's 1500m free was a Quadarella one-woman show, with silver and bronze medallists well separated from themselves too...maybe this one is skippable...
  11. quite a good championship for Italy, great among the girls (1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze, all 9 in the top 7), not so exciting among the boys (1 5th and 1 7th place only)... what's good in the boys' section is the fact that the best result came in the -100kg category, with our guy only losing to the eventual gold medal winner in the semifinal bout (and in the bronze medal bout)... what's not so good in the women's section is the fact that our super-talent, 18 year young world champion, plays her judo in the -52kg class, where we already have our 2-time olympic medallist Odette Giuffrida (and there's no chance to put one of the 2 girls in a different weight class until 2024 at least)... in general, Japan returned on the world scene after last year's absence and they did it in style by dominating the field with 6 gold medals in the 14 individual events and then in the team event (of course)... the remaining 8 gold medals went to 8 different Countries (6 from Europe, 2 from Central Asia)...

  13. nice try by Dongmo, but still 42cm behind Schilder...
  14. so, he's justified whatever he does... oh, Pichardo has decided to take at least 1 serious jump in the triple jump qualis...
  15. he's really a character... he may really be on the cast of a tv series like that... p.s. he once said that his diet goes up to 12000 calories/day...
  16. it goes way beyond that... most of these athletes spend a lot of time training in Spain/Portugal e often they really choose to live there 365 days/year because it's way better than in their native Country... the fact that they also earn their money by being under contract with local clubs helps, no doubt, but rarely it's the true reason behind those switch of nationality... and definitely it's not a supermarket-like buy as the Gulf Nations/Azerbaijan and a few other Countries do...
  17. Schilder just killed the competition... gold has taken a flight to the Netherlands...
  18. a bit OT...first diving competition and guess what? Italy won the Gold medal...
  19. it was top 8 from each heat to qualify, however... by the way, we have troubles with the clock once again...
  20. yeah, this is a discipline available to all the boys & girls in the many gyms all around the Country, so it's quite easy to try and have a go at it... unfortunately, it looks that most of our people practicing sport climbing don't like Bouldering, so we don't have the same amount of kids to choose from... Lead instead is a completely different thing...you have to come from (or at least go to live to) mountain places to develop the necessary skills... luckily we have a very good tradition (and a lot of mountains), so we have quite a good "factory" of specialists...
