I'll definitely dip in every so often. I was not at all sad after Tokyo finished as 3 years sounded like no time at all but for some reason 4 years seems like an age. There wont be much Olympics sports news until the Summer of 2026 when Sports bodies announce their qualifying criteria and the first trickle of qualifications start (Triathlon, Equestrian). Even World Championships next year will be missing competitors who will be taking breaks etc.

You could be right. The RTE crowd were all saying on Monday that she was looking around because she was so comfortable but to me it seemed more like she was worried. Maybe the false start made her anxious or maybe nerves got to her and in the final she can run free. She could get the bronze or she could end up 5th. On tonight’s show Naser will get gold.

Rowing was our 6th. Athletics, boxing,sailing,swimming, equestrian came before. And even tonight I am still frustrated by the thrown away medal in Sailing!!!

I thought this forum would be hectic all week but a lot of Irish contributors have disappeared. Wonder are they actually at the games? I miss Ogreman and his boxing and rowing analysis.

People forgetting that Rory put himself in medal contention today with a great round. Definitely in with a serious shout of a minor medal.

Even though I didn’t expect our 49er Sailors to medal at the outset todays debacle has me seriously deflated. All they needed was to finish 7th of 9 to medal and they lost it. They literally threw away a medal. I k ow they must be distraught but ffs! . We need both Wiffen and Rhys to medal now or we will not even win a record 7 medals. I can’t see any medals after Sunday barring Adeleke being the superstar I think she just might be.

Our performance in boxing is not hard to explain. All boxers except Moorehouse were simply beaten by a better fighter on the day. I’d have expected Gráinne Walsh to have beaten the Hungarian before the fight but she fought poorly. Aoife O’Rourke wasn’t robbed as she fought terribly on the day and in no way looked an medalist. The rest can have no arguments about their losses. Qualifying 10 was a great achievement but most people I know expected at most 2 and maybe on a good day 3 medals. The class is just not there. I’d be telling the three Walsh’s, O’Rourke, Lehane and Clancy that LA is not in their plans.

I think we just bottle it. We just dont get enough clear rounds in the big competitions. Some of the other competitors seemed to soar over tbe fences with a foot to spare.

I think we will be lucky to have 2 more first round winners. O’Rourke should and I’d think Moorehouse will win too (just about). Our team is probably spread a bit thin.

We lost 4 out of 7 in the first round in Lindon yet won tw medals and within a whisker of a third. Two again would be great.

For some reason our womens crew are underperforming a tad. I thought thd doubles would make final and the fours to be closer than they were. I’d be very iffy on the womens pair tomorrow.
