  1. The women have nearly 4 seconds over the 19th placed team. I can’t see them being caught.
  2. I must say I had thought the same. She just says she is not giving up on Paris which I take as trying for the qualifiers. Its a big ask for Lisa to make the weight at 66kg so she may just be waiting for 2028. I'm sure Zaur has all worked out.
  3. According to her Instagram account Amy Broadhurst is staying amateur and trying again for Olympic qualification next year.
  4. How is the Diving qualification going to manage to stay at the quota of 136? Synchronised Competitions 64 Continental Quotas 20 2023 Worlds 48 2024 Worlds 48 Thats 180 quotas. Obviously Countries like Japan, GB, Mexico will be doubling in spots but that will hardly bring the figure from 180 to 136. Will that mean the 2024 Worlds might only have 4 or 5 nquotas available instead of 12? Its a bit unfair on athletes who finish in top 12 in quota but may not make Paris.
  5. And hopefully Ciara Mageean on Friday night in the Mile. A bit disappointed in our divers thugh Both Ciara McGing and Jake Passmore got to the finals in the European Games but were well down the field at the Worlds. 28th and 45th. Granted Europe is not the strongest for divers bar the UK and McGing should have a 50/50 in Doha I still would have hoped for Top 20 here. Which they would have if the acheived similar scores to the EG. Really looking forward to seeing how good Wiffen is. He could be a huge name in 10 days time.
  6. Wellthey havent given up as much as Team Ireland. Highly unlikely that we qualify a\for Paris in Triathlon so thats us down one sport at least.
  7. How on earth did we manbage to lose two women scullers to Team GB? Both Molly Curry and Rachael Bradley competed for Ireland up to 2021 but switched to Britain in 2022. Now both are selected for World Under 23 Championship. Are we really that rich in talent especially sculling?
  8. Positive enough regatta from Ireland. Looks like our pairs (both), Mens Double and Lightweight Double are in strong contention for Qlympic spots. Probablt the womens double as well. I am not as sure about the Lightweight women or the womens 4. Both may have to wait for the FQR next year. I wouldnt worry at all about the Lightweight mens been beated. Paul is only back a few weeks and will be match fit by September. As of now I am going for 5 boats qualifying at the Worlds.
  9. very good summation. Today did look good in fairness and I am less concerned with medals rather than getting to finals and be in qualification spots. The women’s lightweight as of now, don’t seem to have advanced this year. I’m still anxious about the 4 and Sunitas injury is worrying. Qualifying 7 boats would be wonderful in my view. The pairs and doubles in both women’s and men’s should qualify with 11 spots available. If we did qualify a men’s pair are they allowed to race in the FQR as part of a 4 seeing as the qualifying spots go to the NOC rather than the individuals?
  10. Ireland is now not sending a crew to the final World Cup event in Lucerne. This would seem to indicate that they are not going to try and qualify a mem 4 for Paris. Disapointing seeing as the men were 8h in last years world championship. I hope I am wrong but our rowing team in Paris might be a lot smaller and a lot less competitive than we hoped for at start of the year.
  11. No. It’s explicit that once qualified you cannot send anyone to the rest of the qualification tournaments at that weight class.
  12. Well Thankfully you were wrong. Another quota for
  13. That’s a very impressive number for Would be surprised if we don’t get 5 quotas. In fact we could even get a quota in all 6 women’s events. Imagine that!
  14. Whover loses will still have a huge chance of winning the final qualifying tournament. No top class teams will be there.
  15. After getting to the 2nd Round in the World Championships Rachel Hawkes is now in a qualification spot by virtue of a continental quota..
  16. If things remain this way, one would expect Samoa, Uruguay, S Africa,USA and Japan to get Continental quotas. GB and Ireland to battle for European quota with loser strong favourites to get last spot at the FQT next year.
  17. Thanks for that very thorough synopsis of our qualifying chances. Glad to see someone esle found our Tokyo rowing regatta below par. There seems no reason for the W4 disappoinging performance at last years WC. Also the implosion of our M2X in Tokyo has never been explained either. We qualified in 18 sports in 2020 but I can see at least 6 sports this cycle where we will need a lot of luck to get a qualifier..Hockey, Canoeing. Pentathlon, Judo, Triathlon and shooting.
  18. It’s been a quiet Autumn for qualification from an Irish viewpoint. Both Rugby 7s are in qualification spots so that’s a positive. Hockey teams too both seem to be improving too. When qualification windows start opening in the New Year things will start to move. Love following the qualification process and seeing how our shooters are faring in Obscure World Cups. Wonder will we have a few new faces appear whom we had never thought of as qualifiers.
  19. The countries that take the Eights seriously are mostly English speaking too. Along with Germany and Romania. IOC will try and remove the Eights with such a low spread. 126 Quots gone in a swoop.
  20. New Zealand don’t intend to enter an eights boat in Paris. Only 6 boats entered for the woman’s eights here. Eights rowing seems on a downward spiral.
  21. I'd agree with all that Dodge has written and I imagine he will be proven right in 2024. I think that we will 5 medals in Paris. (2 rowing, 2 boxing and 1 other) I think we will qualify somewhere between 90 and 100. We will also qualify in a fewer number of sports that 2020. Its great to see Irish Athlethes reacing the European finals but to even get to an Olympic Final would need big improvements for the likes of Israel and Rhasidat. Perhaps 2028 might be their year. Kate O'Connor has the potential to be World Class but seems dogged by injury. A few thoughts on individual Sports>> Rugby Sevens: Both teams seem to be doing well and I'd be very surprised if both dont qualify for Paris especially now as France are automatically qualified. Gymnastics: Hopefully I am wrong but Rhys's stumble in Tokyo seems to have dented his confidence as he has made other errors in finals since then. Hopefully he will prove me wrong staring this Sunday. Cycling: The Road Race has been reduced to 90 from 130 and based on current rankings we wouldjust qualify one rider. I cannot see us qualifying any more than 2. Our mens track team seem to hve disapperared since 2021 and unless JB Murphy gets a artner we wont qualify any men. Pentathlon: Our glory days in Pentathlon seem over. Natalya seems to have retired although she did say she was taking a years break but her Social Media has basically gone dark. Triathlon: Carolyn Hayes is on a break but is still posting about Paris24 so hopefully she will return Hockey: Our womens team have regressed since 2018-2019 and I would not be confident they will qualify for Paris. I'm a lot less confident about this Olympic cycle than the last one, particularly regarding team size. Its quite possible we will fail to qualify in Judo, Pentathlon, Triathlon, Hockey and Shooting and I don't see any new sports having qualifiers. We will again be relying on Boxing and Rowing and a bit of luck in the 'on the day'sports like Showjumping, Golf and Gymnastics for medals. If we did win 5 medals that would be very satisfactory but for a country our size we really should be targeting 7-8 especially in a European venue.
  22. It’s great news. Years of failure to qualify a jumping team and last gasp qualifiers for 2020 so it’s a massive thing to be qualified at first attempt. On to our eventing team now.
