  1. According to sources here there is no change in the situation. Ireland still keeping the spot. It’s wishful thinking by the Greeks
  2. Whoever wrote that article should be horse whipped. ‘Gossipy Irish’?
  3. All three of the women are definitely medal contenders.
  4. I was always a tad suspicious of 1/100 of a second on home soil. That may be unfair on my part but it didnt smell right
  5. She was ranked 20th in the world in Trap and Ireland has no shooting quota so I would think high.
  6. That’s zero consolation to the affected divers and will rightly lead to court action.
  7. Even FINA themselves said the top 18 at World Cup qualified for Tokyo. https://www.fina.org/news/2129485/watson-making-history-for-ireland
  8. There's still a reallocation available in Women's Trap. Any idea who this will go to? Does have a chance?
  9. But an NOC can have more than one quota in Trap? The quotas are for the shooter not the NOC?
  10. 3 of that Team will be in Tokyo anyway so that’s something. Hopefully Hyland gets a qualifying time this month.
  11. That’s heartbreaking for Ireland. That’s sport I guess!
  12. The Chef de Mission of Team Ireland was on radio this morning pointing out that the case levels in Japan are half what we have currently in Ireland yet we are opening up. She said the feedback they are getting from places where the Irish Team will have training camps in Japan is that there in are no issues with them hosting athletes etc. Its election year in Japan so people need to bear that in mind. That said the IOC need to be doing more to reassure the Japanese people that every precaution is being taken. A good start is that the IOC themselves need to ensure that there are no junckets etc and that the bare minimum of officials attend.
  13. Zero chance the Games will be cancelled at this stage. Japans cases are lower per head than Irelands and we are opening up again. All the test events in Japan have ran without a hitch. Most of this is just 'noise' from internal Japanese politics. There is an election this year after all.
  14. Few if any, swim meets left in Asia that I can see. There are Canadian trials and time trials later this month so the Canadians may be giving it a shot.
  15. Is the cut off date 31st May still? Canada and Korea the dangers but I’d be surprised to see two countries pass us.
  16. LW2x have 3 quotas available because of a reallocation from the Americas.
  17. Why would Switzerland decline the quota? Cant see it happenning
  18. Brillant News. Will come as a big relief to our prospective Olympians.
  19. If there are 56 places available in the 200m and 10 countries are awarded universality places does that mean only 46 other places are available? In 2016 about 20 universality places were awarded in 100m alone. Surely that would mean lots of good athletes missing out?
  20. I expect 3-4: Rowing: 1-2 Gymnastics 0-1 Boxing 0-2 Taekwando 0-1 Sailing 0-1 Then again I expected 3-4 in Boxing alone in Rio and we got none.
  21. Is it official that they have withdrawn? I expect the IOC to give them time to change their minds.
  22. There will be an extra spot available at the final qualifier in LW2X.
