    That was always going to be the position in fairness.

    Thanks for the Ogreman. It shows there is a wafer thin margin in Ireland wing medals and winning none. A couple of bad decisions could make all the difference. Still hoping O’Rourke can win Gold but am worried about Kellie. She’s keeping a very low profile.

    Daniel Coyle is from Ardmore in Derry, Noel Hendricks and Eve Higgins from Kildare. Clancy is Sligo andMax McCusker has family connections from Monaghan. Nobody from Westmeath.

    I was happy enough with our women’s double who have a fair chance of reaching final. Liam Jegou scraped into semi final which is as well as could be expected. Hockey team disappointed (well me at any rate), Swimmers didn’t set world alight but they would have been our weaker events. E enter had their usual dire dressage. Main thing is Rhys and men’s doubles qualifying and looking strong medal contenders.

    GBs canoeists and rowers are staying in a hotel close to the venue rather than the village.

    Seems to be far more mini villages than any other Olympics. Surfers and Sailors are not near Paris. The shooters are staying in Chateaurouk. The rowers and canoeists are staying near their venue in Vairies Sur Marnes and basketballers in Lille. Presumably the equestrian contingent are staying out in Versaille.

    I think the opening ceremony uniform is horrible.

    After lots of soul searching and thinking I am predicting our medal haul as 7. 1 Gold in Gymnastics 1 Gold in Boxing (the Rossie) 1 Silver in Rowing (lightweight double) 1 bronze inSwimming (1500m) 1 bronze in boxing ( 60kg women) 1 bronze in boxing ( 66kg women) 1 bronze in rowing ( mens double) 4th Adeleke 4th Womens Pairs 4th 1500m swimming 2 last 8 in boxing 5th Rugby 7s men 6th Mixed Relay Disappointments in Equestrian, Golf and Taekwondo

    Ireland's NOC has booked 45 Rooms outside the village for athlethes that are finished in competition but want to experience the Olympic Experience. The main reason they want athlethes out as soon as the finish is not to disturb those yet to compete. Seemingly the behaviour in the vilage got more raucous as competions finished.

    True. I cannot understand the rush to get the Sevens done so early. 96 men will be out of the Olympics before it starts!!

    Where do the coaches, physios etc stay? Are they in the Olympic village as well? Also is there a seperate village for judges and referees?

    Today I am convinced we will get 10. Tomorrow I’ll be back to 6.

    Am I correct in saying that if a swimmer is selected under Universality rule but has an OCT in another event he can swim both competitions? Even if this means a swimmer with the OCT and a higher ranking loses out? John Shortt is ranked 9 in 200m Backstroke but received no invite as this went to Morales of Puerto Rico even though he is ranked 12 but was selected for the 100m under universality. That seems very unfair.

    He’s the only PR male selected in swimming so they must give priority to universality when inviting OCT swimmers. But thats not in the qualifying rules. Morales should have been selected under universality rather than OCT. Same with Ferguson. I think our lads got shafted. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Two Irish Swimmers failed to receive invites for having the OCT while swimmers below them in rankings were invited. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Both Conor Ferguson and John Shortt failed to get OCT invites (or Swim Ireland refused) which seems strange as swimmers ranked below them were selected. Unless these swimmers were selected under the universality rule. Which is not in qualification document.

    Mystery solved. Swim Ireland are accepting Shane Ryans OQT in the 50m Free so he is not a relay only swimmer. No OCT invites for Shortt or Ferguson.

    Except the relay only swimmers have to swim at least once.

    World Aquatics still not making any attempt to list the OCT and universality qualifiers. Two weeks out!

    Would i be right in thinking one or two of those wont get a run in Paris?

    Nothing more from Swim Ireland. John Kenny the swimming commentator doesn’t seem to understand the qualification process at all. Quality of sports journalism outside of Athletics for the Olympics is very underwhelming

    Is there anywhere we can find a final list o qualifiers in Swimming? World Aquatics site is absolutely useless.
