I want to drop by and say hello and good luck to the Netherlands team in the 2020 Olympics.

Looking at the qualification performances and rankings of Dutch athletes in various sports, I can see the Netherlands having possible their best summer games ever.

I can see the Netherlands winning more than 10 gold medals, possible around 12-13 if things ago right of if their athletes can maintain their performances to 2019-2020 in sports such Cycling, Sailing, Rowing, Women's Handball, Athletics, etc.

I also can see you guys winning around 30-40 total medals, which would be your best overall haul in a summer Olympics.

I don't know what your local press say about your team in terms of medal expectations, but I want you to know that I have high hopes for the Dutch Olympic Team. Good luck and do your best.

Oranje = NLse atleten (poulefase teamsporten, series, etc.)

    Kortom: heerlijke voorpret gehad!

Nothing is ever safe, but I'd go for this:

    1. Women's road race --> Basically all four women have an excellent chance to win the gold. I hope it won't happen, but even a double or triple medal win is not unrealistic (although of course it's the road race, a ton can happen)

    2. Women's time trial --> Basically the same sort of thing, although with Van der Breggen and Van Vleuten there's only two and there's always Dygert. I hope Dygert is all recovered and fit, in which case she's the clear favourite (but still a Dutch medal should be fairly safe).

    3. Women's 1500/5000/10.000m (whichever Hassan runs) --> She's a gold medal threat in whichever event she chooses to run, and a nearly safe medal bet as well. Gold is a different thing of course, but it's hard to imagine three women beating her.

Bonus: Men's mountainbike --> A pretty open field, but a 'normal' Van der Poel really should be a nearly safe medal threat.

Forgot women's field hockey, that should be a fairly safe medal as well. Same for certain track cycling events, but there we'll have to wait and see which super round wheels the British will show up with

I'd say  has a few safe gold medal picks:
Track cycling, men's team and individual sprint (Harry Lavreysen) Field hockey, women's team Sailing, RS:X men (Kiran Badloe)
Track cycling is a little hard to say because there has been so little competition, but they were far enough ahead of the rest that I'm still confident. And Lavreysen is still young.

Some options that I consider 'safe medals', but not necessarily safe gold medal picks:
Road cycling (women's road race and time trial) Mountainbiking (Mathieu van der Poel) Rowing (LW2x and M4x)

It is nonsense that the protocols were made in November and December 2020. During the second wave. But since then, the behavior of athletes has changed completely, a million different competitions held under completely different rules. And now they are returning to the rules almost 9 months ago. Nonsense. Especially since most athletes are vaccinated,

Update of my prediction from earlier this year:

    Archery: 0-1
    Athletics: 0-3 (was 0-2)
    Cycling road: 2-3 (was 1-2)
    Cycling track: 3-5
    BMX: 1-2
    Mountainbike: 1
    Field hockey: 1-2
    Artistic gymnastics: 0 (was 0-1)
    Handball: 0 (was 0-1)
    Judo: 1-2
    Rowing: 3-5
    Sailing: 3-4
    Swimming: 0-3 (was 0-2)
    Suprise medal: 1-3

    Total: 16-34 (was 15-33)

    Changes:
Athletics: added Femke Bol Cycling road: another women's cycling medal. I really think they could get 3 medals in 2 events, Van der Breggen, Van Vleuten, Vos and Vollering are unstoppable (except by Dychert). Artistic gymnastics: removed Zonderland, I sadly don't see it happening anymore Handball: removed women's team, their preparation has been messy and results in friendlies disappointing Swimming: added a third potential medal for our contenders Kamminga (100m/200m breast) / Kromowidjojo (50m free)/ Weertman and Van Rouwendaal (10km open water)

Dinja van Liere celebrated her selection yesterday like this.

And today she finds out she can't go as her horse Hermes, is in fact, listed as German owned and therefore ineligible.

In that case, disregard what I said about the Netherlands and I think also Croatia will benefit in men's doubles.
