  1. Would be lucky if even one of them is competitive in the Semi
  2. There is still World Qualification tournament
  3. Agree about Laser events. 3 for Asia is high. Africa and Oceania have giveaways in a lot of sports. There is scope for improvement, merger of some continental quotas. We can’t compare with Canoe Sprint, which is basically European sport only.
  4. 1 is confirmed: Laser Women 1 is more or less confirmed: 49er Men’s 1 is toss up: Laser Men
  5. Yes, there are 2 quota places in Laser and Laser Radial but a NOC can win maximum one quota. No NOC can enter 2 boats in the same event.
  6. No. Elavenil is going to participate in 10m in place of Anjum. The only way Apurvi, Elavenil and Anjum could have all been selected if they traded a quota in Pistol events for a quota in 50x3 Rifle. And honestly, nobody in Shotgun deserved the quota more than the three mentioned before.
  7. Bhai not everything has to be written/said. Apurvi and her coaches are aware of the problem (loss of weight leading to ill-fitting gear) which has led to her dip in form. They are working on it. If she is not able to solve the problem and/or the solution doesn't lead to better scores, then federation has many levers to ensure that Apurvi herself withdraws in favour of reserve shooter. But, as of now, federation is backing Apurvi to regain the form. All our past shooting legends have time and again reiterated that one can't equate the scores in trials with that in WC or Olympics. Abhinav wasn't even shooting regularly in run up to Rio but we all knew he was a medal hopeful because of his experience. Apurvi was at top in 2019. So, backing her is not a wrong decision. Basically, we can make a case for Apurvi, Anjum and Elavenil all three. No matter which two were chosen, someone would have missed out. Same in 25m Pistol. In Air Rifle Men, Divyansh was sure selection but behind him Sandeep, Babuta, Aishwary were good in recent trials but were way behind Deepak in 2019.
  8. There is still time for Olympics. She had some equipment issues which will be sorted by the time of Olympics. If her form doesn’t improve closer yo Olympics, then she can be replaced by reserve shooter then. She has shown that she has the temperament to be among the top shooters.
  9. 1) No. 2) You are free to try. Raninder Singh is there on Twitter and he does engage with fans. 3) Count me out of any such campaigns. I am happy with the team.
  10. Personally speaking, I am happy with the squad. This was my pick before Covid. Anjum in Mixed team while Apurvi in Individual is a bit of compromise that was done, due to the fact that we had so many good shooters. Plus to accommodate Anjum in 50x3, we needed Manu to start two events. And Manu is the only one who can be expected to shoot 590+ in 25m Pistol. So, it was basically between Rahi and Chinki. Rahi’s experience won. Regarding Men’s Air Rifle, Deepak has been consistent for quite some time. Even in Delhi WC, he was not bad. Basically, if you want to dislodge the quota holder, you have to be consistently be better than quota winner. All tie-breaks go in favour of quota winner. Only Elavenil could achieve that domination.
  11. Isn't the Colombian lifter provisionally suspended? Also, there is a chance CHN might skip this event. (They have a meagre 10kg lead here while they have 20kg lead in other weights).
  12. Why do you want to give heart attack to @MHSN
  13. In the last update of qualified athlete, ITTF has already confirmed Suthirta’s quota. Will confirm Manika’s quota in next update based on April rankings.
  14. We don't know who is going to win coin toss in China. I think with no Russia and no North Korea, China has big lead in 6 of the 7 weights (Taipei girl in 59kg being the lone exception).
  15. Honestly speaking, Olesk doesn’t care if Vijayveer qualifies for Olympics. And it is true for almost all the ranking quota winners. They don’t care about those who are behind them because there are so many good shooters ahead of them.
  16. Peeter Olesk of is the top ranked athlete in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men. If he wins the European quota, next in line is Vijayveer Siddhu of Sandra Bernal of is the top ranked athlete in Trap Women. If she wins the European quota, next in line is Safiye Sariturk of Irrespective of today's finals result, Mauro de Filippis of will be top ranked athlete in Trap Men. If Kynan Chenai of wins Gold in today's final, he would be next in line to inherit Mauro's ranking quota if any Italian wins the European quota, otherwise Andreas Loew of would be next in line. Of the Europeans who are in lead to get ranking quota, I feel only Mauro in Trap Men, Aneta in 10m Air Rifle Women and Amber in Skeet Women might participate in European qualifiers. In case of Mauro, there are other excellent Italian shooters who can win the European quota, so he has to participate. Amber might participate in the hope that she and a teammate can win 2 quotas at European. And for Aneta, it is a combination of both. For others, I didn't find any strong national competitors who might win their quota in Euro qualifiers, so they might skip it. Of course, there are two big 'ifs' in this. One, I have by no stretch of imagination, good knowledge of shooting scene in those countries, and the shooters might want to take part in Euro qualifiers, regardless to get some good practice. Edit: And it will be Andreas Loew of who will be next in line in Men's Trap.
  17. To me, it seemed like Peni was being petty. But, I don't know anything personal about Peni or Sidi, so am not the best person to comment on it.
  18. ISSF has clarified that Sidi was not cheating. After Peni objected, they rechecked Sidi's rifle and came to the conclusion that he was using bipod as a weight. Basically, everyone except Peni thought that since bipod was glued and can't be moved, classifying it as a bipod is technically correct but a bit silly. And for once, organizers sided with common sense instead of literal interpretation of law.
  19. Nope. German has 900+ points. So, Kynan needs to win Gold to overtake him. In the women's section, behind Poland is Irish girl at 350ish points. So, we may qualify if we finish 4th and top 3 are Poland + ineligible and Poland wins European quota.
  20. In a bizarre incident, forfeited their gold medal match in 50x3 Men's Team because Istvan Peni and Zavan Pekler raised objection on Peter Sidi's rifle. ISSF officials had no problem with the rifle but the two Hungarians refused to take part in finals alongside Sidi. Now, the final will be played between and . Link
