  1. So, basically Han (or Jeremy) would miss out on Olympics because Deni had an affair.
  2. Most likely yes. BWF is expected to make a statement soon.
  3. Singapore Open also cancelled.
  4. My assumption was COL getting suspended.
  5. Also, I think it will put in top 8 and will take the Pan-Am quota.
  6. Just to clarify, I think there are couple more lower level events in Europe (unless they are cancelled as well) but don’t think many who are chasing qualification would be participating in them.
  7. No. Jeremy in 67kg is active but not in green. Those in green are born in 2000. Maybe they are no longer junior but are allowed since, we didn’t have a Junior championships last year.
  8. What use will be extra time when even that will be scored by passivity. I have not seen a large number of Greco matches so my observation may be completely off but to me it seems that most of the points are scored directly from the par terre position. Out of the remaining points, pushouts are majority and only a small portion are, to use football term, from open play. This is the main problem. But again my dataset is small. So, maybe that is not the case. Maybe, that is a conscious decision. I don’t know but it limits the viewer experience for a neutral.
  9. To add to what @dcro said, ideally speaking those who didn’t fulfill MER requirement at end of qualification period should not be qualified, like it was team events. But, the additional time that individuals got to confirm their MER is to increase number of NOCs at Olympics. Basically, some leeway for universality quotas. (Lets be honest, these continental quotas are like universality quotas only).
  10. And that completes Mongolian Women’s team.
  11. Anshu Malik and Sonam Malik who qualified for India at Asian qualifiers are 18 and 19 years old.
  12. Unless BWF amends qualification rules , very very less chance of that happening, yes.
  13. Yes, just saw they have updated the qualification document. Now, you need only 4 participations and none of them have to be in 3rd period. Your final ranking is best results from period 1 and 2 and next 2 best results. This will change the qualification rankings a lot.
  14. No, we are not thinking of pulling out of Olympics. Infact our federations are working on vaccinating and shifting players to other countries to ensure we don’t face a problem if Japan bans Indians from entering. Though, by the time of Olympics, we expect that the present wave, which has started to peak, would be over and there won’t be any travel restrictions on Indians. I have read multiple reports that both AstraZeneca vaccine and Bharat Biotech vaccine works on the variants presently wreaking havoc here.
  15. Though I don’t think he will lift 320 kg to qualify for Tokyo, his Twitter feed suggests he will take part in World Juniors.
  16. No, it doesn’t work that way. Just because 20+ websites reported it, it doesn’t become true. It would be egg on face only for Olympic channel. For rest, it would be one more time they were wrong.
  17. It is FIG job to be clear about qualifications. Even if nobody claimed they qualified, it is still FIG’s job to come out and tell if Asian championships are going to be held or not and if they aren’t being held, who will qualify. And now that Olympic channel has also made the mistake, it is even more FIG’s job to clear the air. And as you said most of these fake claims and twists are spread because they think nobody would know the difference. They are for domestic consumption. They don’t think they can fake-news their way to Olympics by hoodwinking IOC/ISFs. In present case, I honestly think Pranati/her coaches and federation are so incompetent that they have wrongly interpreted the rules. At worst, they know they are wrong and are still doing it for some media attention in India. They are not some masterminds trying to scam IOC/FIG into naming them as the qualifiers. But even if they are trying to scam, FIG owes it to the gymnastics community to be clear about the qualification events and process.
  18. Also, a lot of athletes/coaches/federations make absurd interpretations of qualification rules. Are they all trying to fake-news their way to the Olympics? Or this is a special case?
  19. Let us assume Pranati/India are trying to fake-news their way to the Olympics. What is preventing FIG from telling the world the truth?
  20. How hard is it for FIG to issue a simple statement declaring if Asian Championships are cancelled or not and if they are cancelled who all qualified?
  21. I have very low opinion of Indian journalists (specially sports one) but in this case, if even IOC is fooled by their wrong interpretation, they deserve respect and IOC/FIG should be ashamed.
  22. Can’t confirm but my understanding is Asian qualifiers are cancelled and we will have zero gymnasts in Tokyo.
  23. And at this time the great progressive democratic USA is blocking commercial deals, not grants but commercial deals, that would supply India with raw materials for Vaccines. And that too for a AstraZeneca Vaccine that is not even approved in USA. But, as Dr. Fauci said It is in the interest of the world that USA is vaccinated first. Sab yaad rakha jayega.
